Description: The two riders take a trip to the Gather.
Location: Sunstone Seahold
Date: month 5, day 28 of Turn 6

"They are supposed to be having boat races," D'lorn remarked as they
walked away from the landing area. The greenrider looked around the
crowds, seeing the gather square easily.
"Hm, I'm really hoping the vintners have a tent set up." S'yei
couldn't help but remark, his eyes scanning the tops of the vendors'
tents to see if he could make out the colors of the vintnercraft hall.
Not that the bluerider couldn't enjoy the other festivities of the day
but he especially wanted to taste some of the latest things from the
vintnerhall and see if there was anything he wanted to purchase and
take back to Blayre.
"I'm quite sure they probably do. They'd never let something like this
go by without trying to sell some wine." D'lorn led the way to the main
aisle through the stalls, thinking that was likely a good place to start.
The greenrider kept his carisak close to him, intending to put the things
he wanted to buy in it.
D'lorn had a point and S'yei had to content himself with the thought
that at some point during the day he would make a detour to the
vintners' stall. Until then he was happy to look at the odds and ends
that they were walking past. Some vendors were pushing jewelry and
spices, while others had steaming plates of baked goods and bubblies.
"I love the smell of a Gather." S'yei said taking a large inhale of
the blend of spices and food that filled the air.
"Yeah it is a very unique sort of thing, I will agree. I always like
the opportunity to see the traders. My family doesn't come this way,
but some of the others do." Sometimes he missed the nomadic life, but
he'd never give his dragon up.
Ah yes, D'lorn had been a trader, S'yei had heard that once before but
since he was still sort of the 'new guy' he was still trying to keep
everyone's backgrounds, and dragon names, straight. Seeing a vendor
with a shop set up that was selling delectable looking roasted wherry
legs, S'yei had no choice but to stop. "I'm going to grab a bite to
eat. Do you want something or should I just catch up to you?"
"Oh no go ahead, I can wait. I might have a small sandwich." He was fond
of those since they were easy and cheap, but filling nonetheless.
Stepping in to line, S'yei smiled at the woman that was standing
behind the wooden counter, "Hello there, I'd like one of your wherry
legs and one of your small sandwiches." The woman quickly put together
his order and the bluerider paid from a leather pouch that he'd
secured to his belt.
"Here you are." S'yei said turning to D'lorn and handing him his sandwich.
He took it and smiled, smelling it. "Thanks a lot." Putting some
condiments from the jars set on the table onto it, he doctored it up.
Smiling to himself,
he took the first bite. "Good deal. This is some nice meat."
The bluerider couldn't even speak in return because he had the wherry
leg up to his mouth and was taking a bite as big as he could manage.
The swirling, hot juices of the meat washed over his tongue and S'yei
gave a little appreciative moan as he chewed the tender, dark meat.
"I wish they were this good at the Weyr." He said as he wiped his
mouth on his sleeve and took another bite.
"The holders probably keep the better meat for themselves. Of course
a lot of our stock was affected at the beginning of the Pass when they
got a disease apparently." D'lorn was quite happy with the Weyr's cooking,
though he wasn't very picky.
S'yei waved his free hand, "Don't get me wrong, the food at the Weyr
is fine, it's just not _this_." He said with a brandish of the wherry
leg he had in his right hand. As he worked on eating the roasted leg,
the pair continued to walk around the Gather. For S'yei it was
interesting to inspect others and see what they were wearing since
most people dressed up for Gathers.
