K'sedel

K'sedel

Making sure she had everything together, Rhosyn packed Orlaith's saddlebags
and then stood back. The queen was freshly washed and oiled with the help of
some candidates and she had her best set of straps on. Rhosyn's gather
clothing was in the saddlebags. She'd change into it at the Hold. For now
she was in her good flight gear, complete with her Weyrwoman's jacket with
the Weyr's badge on it.

Mounting, she met K'sedel at the Star Stones, just as they would on a fall
day. Surveying the Weyr, she felt giddy at the thought of what was coming.
This was going to be great and she couldn't wait for the looks on their
faces.

"Is your wing ready?" K'sedel asked as he buckled the last of his formal
riding straps onto Nikornath. The Weyrleader wore formal clothing, a riding
jacket lay handy to don just before they rose into the air.

"Yeah Lenala has them arrayed in the Bowl. Now in this case, do you want me
with them or beside you in the center front?" Orlaith was huge and it would
suit Rhosyn no end to have her be the focal point of this little exercise.

"I think start with them, then come alongside us, make a point of it,"
K'sedel said. "Show them what she is capable of."

"Allright, I'll get down there then. I think everyone else is mostly here
and in position. We can probably go in a few more minutes." With a small
mental command, she and her queen went to join their wing. In position
and ready, she glanced at some of the other wings, arrayed and ready, as
they waited for K'sedel's signal. }:This is going to be very good. I can't
wait to show those holders what my Weyr can do:{
**I know and Morin better appreciate that we're going to all this trouble.**

K'sedel raised his hand, forming a fist as he pumped it into the air in the
traditional gesture used to signal the dragons to take to the air. Nikornath
led, waiting until the massed wings were airborne, before passing on the command
to go /between/.

They came out of the cold as one into the skies above Sunstone Seahold.
It was just as they would when fighting threadfall. Still, it was quite a
sight that most holders never saw-all of the wings of the Weyr arrayed in
formation at once. It was a calculated show of strength of course as well
as a ceremonial action. The dragons hovered there for a time before Orlaith
began her movement.

The big golden queen gracefully began to rise up through the layers of
wings, the dragons moving just so then back again to close ranks as she
went. It didn't take long to reach her place beside Nikornath, looking down
at the Hold to see if the people were looking like they were supposed to.

**Tell Orlaith and hers that it looks as though they had practiced that for
sevendays,** K'sedel asked of Nikornath.

Rhosyn was also looking down, though she spared glances at the riders
nearby. Dragonriders didn't often get to show off in such a way, so it was
gratifying to be able to. She couldn't help it, though. She was proud of her
Weyr, just as she felt whenever they went to meet threadfall. }:Their
watchdragon says we look very good:{ Orlaith commented before she
received Nikornath's compliment and passed it along.

}:Are we landing by wing then, Nikornath?:{ That's what they had agreed
upon since the landing field that had been cleared was not near big enough
to hold anymore. She trusted the bronze to give the landing orders, content
to hover up in the sky for as long as she needed to. It was so pretty.

}:My rider says Torrent to go first, then Rapids and after them Cascade,
followed by the both of us together,:{ Nikornath relayed to Orlaith. }:He
will ensure the wings know what to do.:{

Of course not all the riders of the Weyr were there, some had stayed to
take care of the weyrlings, currently too young to leave the Weyr, and
also to take care of the aged or sick. And there were still more who had
simply decided not to go. Still, enough of the riders were present to give
an impressive showy greeting to the new Lord Holder and his hold residents.

As the others began the landing process, the Weyrwoman's thoughts were
quiet as she listened to her dragon's. Orlaith was communicating with
several other dragons including Vilarth, the watchdragon, and Alabieth.
Her golden form shone easily in the bright sky and her great wings that
kept them up almost sparkled as the water below reflected off of them.
Her thoughts kept up a smooth rhythm just as her wings did. Rhosyn let
herself drift into that rhythm.

}:Now,:{ Nikornath relayed to Orlaith. }:Our turn.:{

Timing her motions to his as best she could, Orlaith began her descent. Her
size and her power allowed her to control her movements better than most.
When she touched down, she furled her wings as her head came around.

K'sedel dismounted, and made a show of moving to Orlaith's side and reaching
a hand up to assist his Weyrwoman. He knew she didn't need it, but it was worth
giving the holders a show.

Rhosyn took her time and dismounted, using his hands before she jumped the
rest of the way down. The Weyrwoman grabbed her carisak of clothing, then
headed off with her Weyrleader. They'd probably have to meet with Morin,
she suspected and she wanted to freshen up and change before then.
