"Allright, Im're I want you on the left side here. Gormth should be able to cover what comes down. You'll be next to Vilarth since she?s the pivot there. Does that suit?" Rhosyn had lost a few wingriders and had to change things slightly to make up for it.
"Yes, ma'am, I think we can cover it. Running it through in drills would help though," Im're replied. He was still a bit nervous about their performance in the air. He didn't need crutches any longer and Gormth's injury was just a scar now. But getting over it mentally was turning out to be harder.
"Of course we will. And how are you finding things with the weyrlings when they refuel?" Of course Rhosyn didn't have to bother with sacks, but she knew that it was imperative that the weyrlings manage for the others, even with her wing being on bottom as it was.
"Well enough. If they can aim it anywhere near us, we'll catch it," Im're replied.
Looking at the other things she meant to speak to him about, she went down her list. "How did the last trip to the healers go?" Rhosyn had gotten the notes, but she wanted to hear it from him.
"It went good. I'm healing as expected. Still have some physiotherapy to go through," Im're replied.
"Good. That means we're doing things correctly then." Smiling at that, she sat back in her seat. "Was there anything we said we'd discuss left from the last meeting?" She tried to remember, also trying to think of what her other wingriders had told her about Im're's performance.
"No," Im're replied with a shake of his head. It made his orange-red locks bounce.
"Do you still need help with Gormth?" That was part of the routine that would help him heal, stretching his muscles. If he could do it on his own, so much the better then.
"Not any longer, thank you," Im're said. "He doesn't even remember it any longer," he continued with soft chuckle.
"Goooddd....." That took care of that problem then. "Glad you're getting better though I'll hate it when I lose you. You've been a great help."
"Thanks. I'm not leaving yet," Im're said and blushed.
"Are you looking forward to going back to your wing?" she asked curiously.
"Yes and no. I've made friends in this wing," Im're replied.
"You'll still be in the same Weyr." Rhosyn smiled, letting him know it wouldn't be goodbye really.
"I know," Im're nodded.
"Tell me something you've learned that you think will help you when you go back." That was important. Rhosyn had to send them back better than she got them. She didn't want the queens wing to be some joke where everyone went for vacation.
"Well, there's that maneuver in a side wind, never encountered that one before. And that where you quickly switch places with your wingman."
"Anything you want to learn?" She scribbled notes on his record hide.
"I've seen some greens do a fancy turn on a wingtip, but I don't know if Gormth is agile enough for it," Im're replied.
"Practice can probably fix that. I don't imagine why he couldn't with his size. Perhaps you can work with Lorma to copy the maneuver. That pair has it down pat, I think." The greenrider certainly seemed to do it often enough.
"All right, sounds good," Im're nodded. An added benefit was that Lorma was quite pretty too. Maybe he'll get a chance for closer acquaintance with her. He was still lacking experience with women.
"Hmm I think that's it for now then. I'll see you tomorrow. Go get something to eat. You look like skin and bones." The boy tended toward skinny, but Rhosyn was always afraid people were wasting away.
"Yes, ma'am." At the age of seventeen, you didn't have to tell him twice to go to eat.
