Characters: Aileyan, Demalia, Ravyan
Description: Aileyan and Demalia try to catch up, but with Ravyan present.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 7 of Turn 6

It was late in the morning before Demalia found time to do something she'd
been meaning to do for a long time. **Tapheth, can you please speak to
Kjarliheth and ask her if her rider and the little one would like to have
dinner with me.**

Tapheth duly relayed the message, with luck, there would be an answer for
her rider soon.

Aileyan was always happy to meet with Demalia. They had been weyrlings
together and that had created bond of friendship with them. Nothing broke
that, even if their lives took them to different directions and they didn't
talk to each other for months.

"Let's go to eat with aunty Demalia," Aileyan said and pulled a jacket on to
Ravyan.

**Can you tell Kjarliheth's I've got us a table already,** Demalia asked of
Tapheth.

Aileyan received the message from her green. **Can you tell her we'll be bit
late?** She asked, because just then Ravyan decided he couldn't go without
Dagon and he couldn't remember where he put it. It was followed a fifteen
minutes of frantic searching until the stuffed toy-dragon was located (his
bed, under furs) and they could go.

It didn't seem that long for the other greenrider as she waited, then as she
saw them coming Demalia got to her feet and waved. "Over here!" she called
out.

"Auntie Demmy!" Ravyan cried and run to hug her. Aileyan followed with more
sedate pace, smile on her face.

"Hi Demalia."

Demalia gave the youngster the hug he so clearly wanted. "Are you taking
good care of your mother?" she asked him, before turning to greet her
friend.

"He's grown again."

"Yes, he is. Handspan in a few months," Aileyan replied with proud voice.

"And I bet he'll be tall, taller than us!"

"He better, can't do much shorter" Aileyan, barely past five feet, snorted
with amusement.

"And I bet he'll eat enough to match a weyrling dragon!" joked Demalia.

"Not quite yet," Aileyan said with a laugh and moved his glass of milk out
of the harm's way. Ravyan had tendency to reach for food and knock over
drinks.

"Well my mother made some of those pastries he likes..."

"Shh, don't tell him or he won't eat his main course," Aileyan whispered
with a playful wink.

"Well I also got that stew I saw him shovelling down the other sevenday."

"Oh good," Aileyan said. "Did you hear Rav? Demmy's mom has made all your
favourite foods," Aileyan told her son.

"Yummy!" He cried with delight. "Dagon eats too!" The toy was placed to
center of the table.

"There's enough for Dagon as well," Demalia told him.

"I hope Dagon is hungry," Aileyan gave Ravyan his food.
"So, what have you been doing lately?" she asked from Demalia when the boy
started to eat.

"The usual, drills, flying fall, an odd side trip here or there on transport
duty," she began. "And somethings not for little ears."

"Now that sounds intriguing," Aileyan said.
Her attention was on Demalia, while they chatted. She didn't notice what
Ravyan was doing until their discussion was interrupted by loud cry: "Momie!
Dagon drowns!"

She turned to look and found out that Ravyan's toy had now swimming in his
stew. "Oh, Ravyan!" she sighed, yet she was trying to suppress a laugh at
the same time.

"Here," Demalia passed a serviette to clean the toy up. "I think that this
toy might need to learn to swim."

Aileyan tried to wipe the toy clean but the gravy was too sticky.

"Dagon's dirty!", Ravyan was bawling with full force now.

"Not enough. Maybe we should wash it at the kitchen. Is your mother there?"

"I think so, if she isn't someone will help Dagon," Demalia held a hand out
to Ravyan. "Don't you worry, we'll make sure Dagon is going to be okay."

"Okay," Aileyan said. They went to kitchen and she washed the toy in a sink.
Then it was placed by the oven to dry. All the time, Ravyan was crying.

"Want that sweet pastry now?" Demalia asked gently.

He nodded through the tears.

"I know where my mother keeps the extra special ones with the redfruit and
berries in, with the cheesy pastry. Will that do?" asked Demalia. "I think
she might have made a few specially."

"I think that could do the trick," Aileyan replied while trying to get her
son to stop crying.

"I'll get us some," Demalia said. "And Ravyan can tell us if he really likes
them."

"You would like that, wouldn't you?" Aileyan asked and Ravyan nodded. "Don't
worry, sweetheart. After Dagon is dried out, he's good as new and much
cleaner."

"And these are tasty," Demalia said armed with a small plate of the
pastries. "When you've had one, then it'll probably be time to collect Dagon
and go back to your weyr."

You didn't have to tell Ravyan twice.
