Notes:After some time, I've decided to 'retire' Lisadi, so this is her
farewell post.
With her bags in hand, Lisadi looked around the quarters she had shared
with Dareera and Trewlin. There were many great memories here and it was
hard to imagine leaving them behind. Glancing down at the token in her
hand, she found her heart clenching. It was even harder to imagine leaving
Sarban behind.
Lisadi had had no one for so long in her life, yet she always responded to
the call of duty. Her only living relative had sent word that she was ill
and needed Lisadi's help. She had wanted to refuse, but she knew she would
never be able to live with herself if she did. She hoped that the stay
would not be a long one, but it was a far journey. At most she hoped to be
gone no more than a half-Turn to a Turn, but even that long seemed like too
long to her. She had begun to make a life for herself here at Emerald Falls
and Sarban had even mentioned marriage.
Everything had been in line for them to pursue a life together, until she'd
gotten that letter. She knew she couldn't marry him and go off to tend to
her relative for such a long time. It had seemed better to put things on
hold. She had promised that she would write as often as she could and
return as soon as possible. She only hoped she would be able to come back.
Hefting her bag, she turned and slipped out the door, glancing back one
last time and recalling the moments she'd treasured here.
"I'll be back, someday," she whispered to herself as she closed the door
behind her.
She and Sarban had already said their goodbyes, she couldn't bare to face
him this morn as she left for good.
"Goodbye Sarban," she whispered as she touched the walls of the Hold on her
way out. "Goodbye Emerald Falls. You were a wonderful place to call home."
With those words, Lisadi walked out the doors of Emerald Falls for the last
time and joined the caravan that was waiting for her.
