The day just dragged on. It was so obvious what was going on when
Sirjath's normally brownish/muddy-green hide kept getting brighter and
greener. She drew in male dragons attention, she basked in that
attention. Yet the actual event seemed to never come. It was making
Uetia snappish and irratated. **Are you ever going Rise?** she
demanded from her in one point.

}:When the moment is right. :{ Sirjath's reply was surprisingly calm.

At least uncle U'das had plenty of time to take Zackariath out of the
weyr and her brother knew better to show up when Sirjath was due.

When the moment finally came, the sun was already setting.
** Blood only!** Uetia reminded when she rushed to the feeding pens.
Not that it mattered, since Sirjath was green and didn't clutch. But
the flight was more enjoyable to all if she wasn't bloated with meat.

Leith never had the need to blood before chasing. The blue was just as
fast and light as he needed to be. Growling, he came down when he saw
Sirjath was getting ready. The green was young and plenty worth
catching.

Yalith had yet to catch a green since he and S'yei had arrived at
Rivers Bluff so when he saw the beautiful Sirjath head for the feeding
pens he pushed off from his weyrledge and headed immediately for the
weyrrim to wait for the green to take to the skies. Stretching out his
dark blue wings, Yalith's eyes whirled quickly as he focused on
Sirjath.

Down in the Weyr, S'yei had just been finishing up lunch in the Dining
Hall when he felt Yalith's intentions to fly. Striding out, S'yei
noted Sirjath's rider, Uetia, heading towards the pens so he changed
course and followed her.

**Sirjath again?** K'mai teased his blue when Sebeth made his
intention clear. K'mai joined the loose circle of riders forming
around Uetia. He wouldn't mind winning her flight again, not at all.

D'arvn too felt the flush of lust from his lifemate and dropped the
meatroll he just bitten into his half empty plate. When he got the
picture of Sirjath though the lust haze of Falzeth's thoughts he
hesitated for a moment but Uetia was his weyrmate's cousin. So, he
rose and hurried toward the pens.

Y'gel shook his head as Aug announced he was chasing yet another
green. He was in the middle of a dragon anatomy lecture to his latest
group of apprentices. He handed the pointer to one of his Journeymen.
"It appears we're chasing," he told the greenrider. "Please continue
the lecture. I'll be back to quiz you all," he added sternly before
hurrying off.

Sirjath finished blooding and looked around. There seemed to be plenty
of males, blues, browns and bronzes. She hissed challengingly and took
to the air. She was strong flyer and gained height fast.

As soon as she went up, he shot after her. Blue wings picked up the light
and made shadows on the ground below. Clearing the Star Stones, he was
quickly trying to put distance and speed between himself and the other
chasers.
Leith knew this green-she was wily and had turns of chases behind her to
learn from. That made the game that much more interesting.

Falzeth was off the ground as quickly as the other blues beating
swiftly after Sirjath. She was a beautiful green dart and he was
determined to win her. Leith might be slightly ahead but he wasn't
gaining any ground on the other blue.

Sirjath found an air current that took her high and far. She wasn't as
fast as some of the greens, but she had more endurance than the more
graceful green dragons. She
enjoyed the flight and mocked her chasers:, }:You'll never catch me
before I let you!:{

}: Of course Sirjath! You know I would never do such a thing.:{ Leith
hurried to
assure her. She knew better than him. Leith?s eyes watched her from behind.
She had such nice flanks and a good wingspan. Her hide almost glittered. He
couldn?t help but want to touch it, to stroke it. Losing himself in
thinking of her, he almost let one of the other chasers pass him by.
Shaking his head,
Leith roaredband put the speed back on.

}:I will chase you fast and far,:{ Sebeth said, keeping up with a few
other blues. }:Choose me, I will make you feel good again.:{

Aughashyth leaped into the air after the green and while the blues
darted ahead following her weaving path he settled in changing his
direction only when necessary. He crooned his desire after the glowing
green.

Suddenly Sirjath just dropped altitude and speed, so that she was flying so
low the waves were brushing against her belly. It was very amusing to her to
see all those males shot far over and past her! She wondered who would be
fastest to react.

}:Crackdust!:{ Leith thought to himself as he quickly corrected as only a
blue could. He had to be careful about his dive, though. He was heavier
than she was and couldn?t stop as quick. Hurtling toward the water, he
pulled
up and skimmed across it, his wing muscles going again. He was going to
hurt come the next day, but for now it didn?t matter.

Falzeth swooped down, hot on her tail and stayed inside her curve
though he wasn't quite on the right tangent when she shot across the
waves.

Aug wasn't about to play silly games with the water. She was just
going to have to climb high again if she planned on mating today.
Falling from the sky entwined didn't leave any time at all if one were
already skimming the waves. He watched as the blues followed her down
mindlessly.

Sirjath made 90 degree turn and started to gain altitude again. She
didn't want to be caught this near surface. She wanted Mating Flight,
not mating dive! She ducked few of the faster blue and got to the
proper flight height again.

For once the bronze's plan worked almost perfectly and as she rose
swiftly back into the clouds he shot down from the heights to grab her
in the clouds. Aughashyth twined his neck with Sirjath's and Y'gel the
big dragonhealer picked up Uetia and carried her away.

Leith saw it happen and was almost dumbfounded for a moment before
the loss sunk in. The blue growled at the injustice of it all. He had done
all that work and then the bronze just had to swoop in and catch! Snorting,
he headed back to the Weyr.

Sebeth was quite disappointed he hadn't caught Sirjath again and he
rumbled his loss as he turned back for the Weyr. K'mai stumbled away
from the circle of men, looking for someone to burn off his lust with.
It wasn't a total loss, as far as he was concerned.
