Briata

After seeing Parme and admitting that she was going to be having a baby
with Ioven, Parale couldn't help but think of someone she wanted to
tell. She had already done some blankets and needed to send them
anyway. So she managed a small package and sent it by runner to the
Weyr.

'Briata-

Here are some things I made for the little one. Hope they are suitable.
I have some news of my own to share as well-apparently I'll be having a
baby after you will.

-Parale'

It was quick and to the point, but she didn't know what else to say and
she needed to send it as quick as possible.

The message was received and when she read it, a smile broke out over
Briata's face. Parale was going to have a baby! Well, it meant that
she could do something in return for her new little one. Immediately,
the young weaver sat down to pen her own note.

'Parale,

I am so happy for you! Congratulations to you and your husband! I hope
that the pregnancy is an easy one. When did you find out? Do you have
an idea as to when you are due?

Thank you for the blankets, they are quite lovely. You are so good to
me. How is your family? How are you feeling with the pregnancy?
Please keep me up to date.

Briata'

The note was secured on to Jewel and the little gold sent on her way to
deliver it.

When the firelizard appeared, Parale was in the middle of a project. She
put things down and moved to find something to offer the little queen.
When she coaxed Jewel closer and read the message, she was quiet as
she thought about what she could say.

It was a long while before she had what she needed down there and she
was thankful for the firelizard waiting around.

'I was sick and still am sometimes but I don't have anything to compare it to to know what easy is. I admitted it to myself about a month past, but I
may have been for longer due to irregular female times. I haven't told Ioven yet. Things are still uncertain after our last argument. He will know soon, regardless.

I must see the healer when I can. Enjoy the blankets.

-Parale'

She quickly wrapped it up and sent it to Briata, understanding that
neither of them could travel so they were left with this at the moment.
****
Briata looked up from her work as Jewel returned. The gold chirruped
and she rewarded the creature with a bit of jerky that Briata kept for
treats. The young woman opened the message and read it. Her lips
curled down and it was her turn to take a few moments to think about
what to write back. She took a deep breath, then took up some more
parchment and penned a new note.

"Dear Parale,

I hope you will tell him soon. It is best to be honest with one another,
to share with each other. If you have had an argument, step away and
come back to it. Letting it lie will only make things worse. I really
hope that you will work things out with each other. You are in my
thoughts. Please let me know if you need anything or if there is
anything I can do to be of help.

-Briata"

Of course, with their distance, there wasn't anything she _could_ do.
Especially since she could not travel, not without incurring some risk
and she would not dare do such a thing. The weaver attached the
message to the gold and sent the creature on her way.
-----------------------
After reading the note, the holder sent Jewel back without a reply. At this point, there was nothing more to be said. She would decide what she was going to do, though she realized she might as well tell Ioven soon anyhow. She just had to pick her moment. And she wouldn't let go of her fervent hope that this baby would have a good life.
