Location: Smith Hall (NPC), Vintner Hall

"Greetings," she began rather formally, but the tone of the letter soon changed.
"I thought I'd write to you to let you know that I really had settled at the Smith Hall at last. It isn't home yet, but I'm sure it will feel that way soon enough."
"Otrina is going to become a good friend I'm sure, and her brother Anar has already been to visit once. He's the Journeyman Harper. I'm sure Papa said how much he liked him when they visited us at our Hall. He brought a friend with him, and he seemed to get on with Otrina, it really was a nice evening."
"Something else happened that night, Arva rose again, and she was caught by a bronze this time. She clutched the other morning - there are eight eggs this time. Some of them I know who I'm going to give them to, I think Otrina would like one, and one of the apprentices here has become a friend, so I'm going to let him pick one."
"There is one thing that you could do for me, Hallmaster Daynar has put out some restrictions on firelizards, and I was hoping you might be able to find homes for a couple of the eggs at the Vintner Hall. There are riders bringing messages almost every day here, so I'm sure I could find one that's going back to you who could bring them."
"Please find them good homes, I'd hate to see them go wild, Fieayz"
The girl folded the hide, and called her flit to her. She gave her an image of the Hallsecond, and bade the flit to go find him.
Daigoro smiled as the golden flit landed on the corner of his desk. A letter would be a welcome distraction from the hidework he had been working on. He wondered, though at who the little golden beauty could belong to. His own bronze, Wort, flittered down from his usual perch and began chatting excitedly to his old friend as his human unrolled the message.
"Ah, you're Arva! Of course," he smiled as he read the name of the sender. With one thick finger he rubbed a golden eyeridge fondly as his other hand fished for a bit of dried herdbeast meat he always kept on hand for Wort. After given both a tasty treat he settle down to reading what the daughter of the Hallmaster had to say. It certainly had been quieter without her around, and he was glad to hear from her.
"So you've clutched again, have you?" Daigoro said with a knowing smile towards Arva as she chatted away at the bronze. "No wonder you two have so much to talk about."
He pulled a fresh piece of parchment from his drawer and threw a couple more treats in the flits' direction before beginning to write his response.
"My Dear Fieayz-
Greetings!
I was surprised and pleased to see Arva bringing me a message from you.
I have often wondered how you were doing at the Smith Hall, and I am happy to hear that it seems you are doing well. I'm glad to hear that you are making new friends and settling into your new home."
The Hallsecond chewed on the back of his pen thoughtfully as he wondered just what he should tell her about the goings on in the Hall that her father or sister might not have yet told her.
"You might not have heard, but last month I hurt my back in a bad fall.
One icy night I offered to help our cook, Cinale, to carry trays to a nearby cot. Come back to the Hall, poor Cinale lost her footing, and trying to save her from a fall I ended up slipping myself. Luckily, Cinale was not hurt, as my body cushioned her fall. The healer said I bruised my tailbone. Though it is healed now, I was stuck in bed for a good few days. I will never take mobility for granted again."
Daigoro was satisfied with his account of the injury. She didn't need to know the small detail that Cinale had actually tried to push him down. It wasn't her pushing that flattened him, it was the ice after all. And he was pretty sure she lost her footing first... Yeah, that's what happened.
"As far as your eggs, I would be more than happy to find them good homes! I would consider taking one myself, but I already have Wort and there are many others who would so like to have a flit of their own. I will be waiting for your dragonrider's arrival. Hopefully I will already have homes picked out from them. I'm happy to be of service.
"I am looking forward to hearing more about your life at the Smith Hall, and I hope that we can hae an occassion to meet again in the near future. Hallsecond Daigoro."
He gently blew on the page until the ink dried and carefully rolled it.
"All right, you beauty. Have you and Wort had yourself a good catch up?" Gently, he tied the letter to the graceful golden leg. "One more treat and off you go," he smiled as she daintily picked the small scrap from his fingers. "And give your lady our love."
