Y'gel came out of his office in preparation to meet Im're and Gormth.
The blue had really come along and he knew the boy hoped his lifemate
would be ready soon to return to his fighting wing. He had a suspicion
it wouldn't be long but they needed to prove to him Gormth had full
range of motion and he was strong enough.
Im're was feeling bit nervous when he and Gormth headed for the dragon
infirmary. If they cleared this check up, Gormth would be probably
declared fully recovered. Then they could get back to the fighting
wing. The blue was even chasing again, although without success. Of
course, didn't actually have any success cathing _before_ the injury
either.
"Hello, master Y'gel," Im're greeted when he stepped in. Gormth
followed, in a good mood despite his rider's nerves.
"Im're," he greeted the young rider. His eyes were all for the
handsome blue. "Gormth, How are you feeling." He always talked to his
patients knowing they could hear him but expected his answer from the
rider or Briata if she was around.
Gormth replied with a snort that was almost like laugh.
"He's in a fine mood today," Im're replied for him.
"Good, good, And the muscles? Has he been flying in the queens wing a
full half of the Fall?" Y'gel knew the answer from his meeting with
the Weyrwoman, but asked it anyway.
"Full Falls, unless they've been unusually exhausting, like strong
winds," Im're replied.
"Good, good." He walked closer to the blue. "Gormth, can you extend
your wing for me please?"
Gormth obeyed and spread out his wing. Im're almost held his breath.
He could see the scars in where Thread had hit him. They marred the
perfect blue of his hide.
Y'gel nodded and reached up to feel the tendon's and the joint. Then
he ran his fingers lightly over the scar. All the hide was fully
regrown and appeared healthy and flexible.
"Looks good to me," he smiled. These final exams always made the rider
much more nervous than it ever did his patients. He reached around to
stroke the side of Gormth's neck. "You look fit as new to me Gormth."
Then turning back to the rider he smiled again. "I'll make the
Weyrwoman aware you're ready to return to your fighting wing Im're.
But watch him carefully and don't let him over fly. It's far better
for you to leave the Fall early than risk further injury."
"Yes, sir," Im're said, feeling bit light headed with the relief. Or
maybe it was because he had held his breath too long.
}: Don't faint on me, :{ Gormth said, sounding amused.
Y'gel placed a hand on the bluerider's shoulder. "You alright son?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Im're replied with a sheepish grin. He did feel rather silly.
"Well then," he patted the young man's shoulder paternally. "I have a
report to write and give to Rhosyn, don't I?"
"Yes, sir!" Im're repied with a grin. Finally they would be returning
to fighting wing!
