Hoping Y'gel had told the girl that she was needed quick, the
Weyrwoman waited in her bed. It was uncomfortable at best since the cream
they had slathered her with stuck to the sheets and made it hurt every time she
moved, pulling her raw skin. Not wishing this on anyone else, she waited
for Gelira's face to appear.
The dark brown hair of the dragonhealer's daughter appeared just moments
later. "I was told I was needed," she stated, bowing her head slightly towards
the Weyrwoman. She had heard that Rhosyn had taken ill and the message had been
that Gelira's help was needed. The girl had dropped what she was doing and
hurried to the Weyrwoman's quarters.
"Ah Gelira. Good. Here's the deal. I am...indisposed due to sunscorch. Massive
sunscorch. It hurts and I might get a fever and who knows what else. So the healers
tell me I have to stay in bed until my skin has healed enough. This means I need
someone to take care of Orlaith for a bit and probably to help me some." Her hazel
eyes rested on the girl, keeping in mind that she was trusting her queen to her. "You
are sworn to secrecy as to the reason I am in this bed since I don't want anyone
alarmed. Do you understand?"
"Oh," Gelira's face registered surprise. That was not what she had expected from the
message. "Of course, my lady Rhosyn. I would be more than happy to help in anyway
I could. Orlaith will be well taken care of, I assure you." Gelira moved closer
to the bed. "Do you need anything now?"
Rhosyn closed her eyes and tried for patience. "I am not a Lady or Faranth knows I
would not be in this position. I think I'm probably going to sleep some. They gave me
some fellis. You still have some of your dragonhealing and candidate duties to mind
but I?ve spoken with your father so it should be arranged. Just check in with me every
so often and I?m sure the healer will be doing the same. Orlaith will need bathing and
oiling in two days time. Otherwise, she can hunt for herself." A thought occurred
to her. "And Gelira, don?t let anyone else in here unless it's the healer, Weyrleader, or Headwoman.
No one sees me like this."
"I understand, my..." Gelira cleared her throat, "Rhosyn." She corrected herself. "I can
check back in a few hours and see if you need something. I'm sure if you do Orlaith can
let Aughashyth know and father will come and tell me." Turning as though to leave
she turned back and asked, "If anyone were to ask what had befallen you what shall I tell
them?"
"I told the Weyrleader he can tell anyone he wants that he broke me," she grinned to herself
before realizing she was telling a young girl this. A young girl who was the daughter of a man
who had she had escapades with over a desk... **Stop thinking that way. It's Orlaith's satisfaction
bleeding in**
"Oh," Gelira blushed a bit, not having experienced such things for
herself. Still, having grown up in the Weyr she knew what went on day in and
day out. "I see. I think I'll just tell them all to ask K'sedel then if they
have questions!" She grinned a bit sheepishly at the Weyrwoman, a glimmer of
humor in those fiery eyes.
"Good plan. Lenala will be taking over for my wing duties, but she'll be coming to meet with
me too from time to time probably so I know what's going on. Turnover's coming.." She swore again,
wishing the timing had been different. Rhosyn tried to remember if there was
anything else as she felt the fellis beginning to muddle her thoughts. "Oh and
the healer said I needed to always have some water nearby."
Glancing around, Gelira hurried over to the water pitcher and filled a glass. Quickly
placing it beside Rhosyn's bed, she waited to see if there was anything else the
Weyrwoman needed. Gelira could tell she was already starting to drift into
sleep. She knew sleep was one of the best means of healing a hurt dragon or a
hurt body. Sleep is what Rhosyn needed most now.
And sleep was certainly claiming her. Rhosyn's eyes shut and it wasn't long before the
Weyrwoman was breathing evenly. The lights were turned off with only a small
lamp beside the bed turned on though the sunlight shone in from the queen's ledge.
Gelira quietly slipped away, knowing she would be back
soon to check on the now sleeping Weyrwoman.
