It had been some time since he'd seen the little weaver student and it was
beginning to cross his mind every now and again. With duties and Werenn and
the last hatching everything had blurred together. Maybe it was time to see
how she was doing. So one night E'rae showed up at her door-literally.
"Knock knock."
Lifting her head, Bahji blinked at the familiar voice and rose from the
chair at her small desk. Turning, she smiled brightly, but blushed at the
same time, memories of their night together immediately rising in her mind.
She forced the memory away, but the blush still stained her cheeks. "E'rae?"
"Aye it's me. Curse your keen sense of hearing," he teased as he waited for
her to let him inside, lest he come in before she was ready. The bluerider
wondered what she had thought about everything and if she had been getting
along in the Weyr. He also wondered if she was okay, but he didn't want to
admit it.
Her eyes twinkled merrily. "I have to rely on something, you know." She
moved carefully towards the door and opened it, her smile bright. "Come on
in. I've not seen you in a while."
He chuckled. "Bahji, you've never seen me." It was hard to resist and he
couldn't help it. It was so easy. Walking inside though, he looked around
and felt a bit strange in such a small space. He supposed she didn't need
much though.
She put her hands on her slim hips and drummed her fingers against them.
"That was just wrong." She then laughed and shook her head. "But also very
correct. Okay, I've not heard you in a while." **Or felt you**, she mentally
added. "How have you been?"
"Mmm same as usual. Went hunting a bit and got some good fish too. Have all
my wingriding duties to contend with, Threadfalls, Werenn on occasion. Then
we had the Hatching and everything but I guess I didn't see you." He
scratched his head and found a corner to lean in. "You?"
"I've been busy. I've met a few new people. I've met the Weyrleader. He's
very nice." She kept her smile, but her face followed his movements. "The
hatching...well, I tried to go, but all of the humming and noise was a
little overwhelming." Bahji admitted ruefully. "A very nice drudge brought
me back here. It was okay, though. It was nice and quiet." She tilted her
head as she listened to him in the corner. "You can have the chair if you
like."
"No it's okay, I've been sitting in a Wing meeting. The Weyrleader hm? He's
my Wingleader so I see him a lot. How'd you meet him?" That was curious,
though Weyrs weren't as large as Holds so folk could meet each other after
awhile.
"I was walking by the lake in the morning and he was there. I didn't know he
was the Weyrleader at first. But he treated me like...like I was perfectly
normal. It was nice. We just talked for a while. I've met some other riders
too, but mostly I've just been here or in the weavers' area." She stopped
then, refusing to sit, crossed her arms over her chest. "Well, if you aren't
going to sit, do you want to take a walk?"
"That'd be fine if you want." He pushed off from the wall, waiting to see if
she was going to put on a sunhat or something. The bright orb was
particularly brutal during this time of the day. "Glad you've been making
here and there friends. Learning anything new about weaving?"
"It's up to you, E'rae." She paused and finally spoke softly. "E'rae, you
haven't visited or tried to see me in sevendays." She tilted her head up
slightly. "What are you really here for? Not that I mind, you know I
enjoy your company."
Shells but she was direct, wasn't she? Putting a hand on his other arm, he
looked like he might not answer for a moment but then changed his mind.
"Well honestly, I enjoy yours too. I didn't want you to get the wrong
impression...I mean, I'm not really the weyrmating type and all that
but...you're not just some Weyrgirl either so I didn't know what sort of
expectations you had so I thought it might be best if I just gave you some
time and space to figure that out." And now he was here to see what she
had figured.
Bahji blinked slowly as her brow furrowed. "I know you didn't make any
promises to me. I didn't have any expectations of commitment, E'rae. You
gave me freedom, and I was glad to take it." She paused and let herself show
a smile of mischief. "I was just hoping it would be more than one night."
"Ah well...that can be arranged." His eyes had a bit of a glint to them and
he was thinking about how things were different when it was the sighted
leading the blind. Very different.
There was an evident blush staining her cheek at his words and Bahji's lips
lifted upwards. "Can it, now? Well..." She took a step forward, feeling more
bold than she really should have. "Arranged how often?"
"Hmmm...." **K'mai-you don't know how much I wish you were here to hear this
right now** Considering the offer at hand, it was hard to come up with a
concrete answer since E'rae was still trying to see how it went, but he
finally came to an acceptable result. "As long as I don't show up to drills
sleepy and I get my chores done-you're more than welcome to show up
at the weyr when you want."
"Any time I want..." Bahji suddenly giggled. "E'rae...I don't know where
your weyr is. Last time we went there, we went up on your dragon."
"Well that's true. How...umm...what do you do to find something? I mean..
like the dining cavern and all that? Is there a way?" He was trying to
figure this out. Unique challenges this was presenting for sure.
She couldn't help but giggle again at his confusion. "Usually, I get
someone to take me a few times so I can memorize the way. It
can take a while, but eventually, I'll count the steps and remember them."
"Well actually it's easier than that. You just need to make it to the Bowl
and find a weyrling to take you. They'll know where." Scratching the back of
his neck, he smiled as he realized this situation was not one he saw himself
in. Still, he remembered it being worth it. "So were we walking now then
or..."
"I can do that pretty easily as long as the weyrling is patient with me.
I can't rush along and you know how I am with new places." She tugged
on her ear in thought, the idea of her being so bold as to go to his weyr
in search of -that- was a little thrilling. "Or what?" She gave a playful
grin. "You could always be the first to walk me to your weyr, you know."
"See I could do that..but it's going to take a bit to walk there. That's why
it's easier to get a weyrling ride. They have to do it, you know, as part
of learning to fly. We can walk, though, if you want." He didn't have a
problem with it but it would take more time that way. The other alternative was a much
quicker hop on Leith.
She couldn't stop the giggle as a bit of mischief danced in her expression.
"Oh, E'rae, you are doing wonders for my ego. You sound as if you're
eager." She tilted her head towards him, a blush flushing her cheeks
brightly. "It does make me feel as though I did something right."
"Well it's not the same old same old, you know. It's fun letting you explore
and figure things out." He smiled, though she couldn't see it. And it was
hard for her to know, that wasn't really the usual expression for the bluerider.
"Either way let's head in that direction then unless you'd prefer not to go
anywhere?" Her cot was nowhere near as nice as his bed, but he could manage.
Her blush deepened as she reached for him, her hands finding his
chest before sliding down to take his arm. "Lead the way, good bluerider."
Leading her was not hard though E'rae did have to take his time. Once
they arrived at the weyr, though, he led her inside and stood there. "We're
here," he announced, wondering if she was going to orient herself again or
if she remembered.
"Hmm.." her brow furrowed as she kept hold of his arm, her fingers stroking
along the skin idly. Her mind searched her memory for her last time here,
but it was mainly taken up by the other things they had done and not where
everything was, so she simply kept a light hold on the rider beside her.
She felt her stomach give a little tremble at the memories and turned her
head towards him. "So, this is what you wanted to see me for?"
"Well there was that whole make sure you were okay with it all thing and the
fact that you're interesting company but I'd be lying if I didn't say I enjoyed it."
E'rae knew already that she wasn't looking for more-at least not right now so
he wasn't worried about telling her that.
Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Oh, you weren't the only one that enjoyed it..."
Her voice cleared and she lifted her head. "It's still new to me, though. You'll
have to guide me through this 'having a lover' thing."
"Ah well my body is yours to do with what you will. I think most of it is just
to take pleasure from each other to be honest." And there was fun to be had
as well.
"Then show me again."
