**Good Riddance,** she thought even as she stood there smiling and
waving her hand. Nothing could make her happier than watching the
backside of her eldest brother as he rode back to her family home,
far, far away from here.

**One Turn,** she mused as she watched him turn round and check on her,
before kicking the runner he used and heading off for good. **If I
don't find myself a husband in the Turn, then I'll be forced to return
to _that_ place.**

Danrina made a vow that day that she would do _everything_ in her
power to find someone to marry her that she could stomach. She _never_
wanted to return to her family again. In fact, the less she saw of
them, the happier she knew she would become.

Now that her bothersome brother had finally left, she turned and
looked around. She'd been settled now a few days, but Morise had
insisted on remaining to make sure all was well. Finally, though, she
was free. Free of the strings of her family and the ties to their
small Hold. Free to live, at last, and not be smothered by the
falseness that had surrounded her all her life.

"Today is going to be a _good_ day," she declared quietly to herself.

"Indeed it shall," said Bryvin as he passed the young woman on his way
down the steps to his own mount. He gave half a smile as he turned to
look up at her. Quite a lovely picture at the top of the stairs. "Is
your brother gone then?"

"Oh, yes," Danrina replied, happy to note that she could no longer see
him. "I'm _finally_ free." She tried to smile towards Bryvin, but it
came out more like a grimace. Smiling had never been easy for her when
talking with others. "Thank you for your help in getting me settled. I
imagine Morise was a bit of a pain. I know he can be," Danrina
couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"Free?" One elegant brow lifted as did the corner of his mouth. "Your
brother was concerned for your welfare and has entrusted you to our
protection." Whatever his own opinion of her brothers whiny
performance, he was her senior and worthy of her respect. "I trust you
won't let that 'freedom' go to your head?" He'd hate to think the girl
reckless or headstrong. That wouldn't bode well for the process of
matching her and without a Lady Holder to guide the process, he'd find
much of the ensuing headache on his desk.

She frowned, not liking his tone or words. "I won't," she replied, her
words clipped and to the point. _This_ was why she disliked other
people so much. They assumed things. They gave rules and treated her
like a child. She'd had enough of that at her family hold. She had
hoped things would be different here.

Although Bryvin didn't much like Darina's brother he couldn't argue
with the man's assertion that the young woman was a handful. A corner
of his mouth lifted.

"I tell you what," he said. "Would you like to ride down to the port
with me tomorow and look around the warehouse? We have a shipment of
goods that just came in today and hasn't yet been shipped off."

Now _that_ was an interesting offer. "I would like that very much.
I've never done anything like that before," Danrina replied, finding
herself curious and eager at the same time, traits she hadn't often
displayed before. She _did_ have a whole new place to learn about and
explore, _and_ this was her chance to try and make a whole new life
for herself. She could start with this little adventure with Bryvin.

"Alright," he smiled slapping his gloves against his leg. "Then we'll
go right after breakfast tomorrow."

Danrina nodded. This would be interesting. Could _he_ be a candidate
for her? Perhaps she would find out more tomorrow.
