Worth A Second Chance

Description: Sarban and Lisadi take some steps to try and mend their relationship
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 12, day 15 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: Miranek, Corowal

Lisadi had enjoyed the short walk around the gardens. She'd needed the
exercise to help work out the stiffness in her leg. The healers had
recommended that she walk for a few candlemarks throughout the day so
that the injury wouldn't tighten up and cause her more distress. Her
leg, however was feeling rather shaky and unsteady at the moment. She
spied a bench just up ahead and knew that it would take her about 20
measured steps to reach it. **You pushed yourself too hard today,**
she scolded herself as she began what should have been a short walk.
However, after only a few steps, she felt her leg giving way. **Not
now. Get to the bench," she thought as she gritted her teeth against
the pain that was running up her leg into her back. **You can do it,**
but she wasn't sure she'd make it on her own.

He saw her and it was clear she was struggling. Again, he felt that irrational
anger that he had nowhere to direct. Putting his hands in his pockets, he strode
up the path and made noise so she could hear his approach. **Had she seen a
healer? What exactly was wrong? Maybe I should ask Miranek to look into it**

She turned when she heard someone approaching, nearly losing her
balance. "Oh, hello Sarban," Lisadi replied, shifting her weight to
her good leg before her other gave out on her. She tried not to show
the strain on her face as she stood, her eyes darting to the bench
that wasn't far away now. **I've missed him,** she thought with a
sigh. She still didn't know exactly how he felt about her return, and
she knew she couldn't blame him. "I was just out for a walk to stretch
my legs." She shifted and her leg nearly gave out on her. Without
thinking she reached for his arm to steady herself.

"What is wrong with your leg?" He had always had a habit of directness
but right then it was something he needed. He had to be straight with her.
He needed to know. If she tried to keep from answering...

She turned her eyes to him questioningly, "I thought I told you I
broke it during my fall." She thought back to their conversation but
as that day had been rather overwhelming for her, she couldn't
remember what she had and hadn't told him. "Can we go sit first?" she
asked, her hand still on his arm, she pulled it slightly toward the
bench. Her steps were a bit labored but it was only a few and then she
eased herself down with a sigh. Lisadi looked up towards Sarban,
waiting for him to join her.

He didn't sit just yet, preferring to look down at her leg. "Was it not
set then? Did you travel with it broken?" The expression on his face was
pure confusion and it was clear he was trying to reason it all out in his
head.

She looked up at him, sighing with relief now that she was no longer
standing. "I'm not sure really. They _did_ set it, but it has always
hurt since then. The healers there were not as knowledgeable as they
are here. I don't remember all of it, but I know they were discussing
how to best set it. Apparently it was broken up here somewhere,"
Lisadi rested her hand near the top of her leg and hip area.

"After I started recovery a few of them expressed that perhaps they
should have done something different, but they said it was too late
then. They recommended I walk a lot to help it heal, but it hurts when

I walk long periods of time still. I knew I shouldn't have pushed
myself so hard this morning." Lisadi frowned at the thought, hating
that this part of her body was holding her back, hating that she had
made the decision to leave that had led to this.

"Have you seen Miranek about it?" Leave it to him to focus on the one
area he might could do something about and to avoid all the other confusing
topics.

"Not yet," she replied. "I should do that, though from what the other
healers had said, there was no way to repair things any further," she
sighed. She wanted her old life back, wished she had never left
Emerald Falls in the first place on such a foolish quest. Yes, it had
turned out mostly alright in the end, but she'd lost that connection
with Sarban she'd had and for that she was sorry.

"I would rather you had a Master's opinion on it," he commented as he
considered his next words. It was so hard trying to find things to speak
about. He had lost that easiness with her and it was hard to find a way to
get it back.

"I'll go see him then," Lisadi replied, feeling the awkwardness
between them. She didn't know how to cut through what hung between
them. All she could hope for was that time would heal the wounds that
her departing had caused. That or they would both learn to move on.

"I heard you saw the children." He tried again, hoping that would be an easy
topic. Too late, he realized his mistake. She had left them just like
she had left
him. Sarban had tried to spend time with them, but he had been working so it had
been difficult.

She nodded, a slight smile easing the corners of her mouth. "I did. It
wasn't easy, but they have both agreed to try again. Dareera was much
easier to please, but Trewlin has decided I'm worth a second chance. I
only hope to be worthy of that second chance with him," **And with you
if you will give me one,** she slightly pleaded in her mind as she
looked up at him.

"That's good then. It will give you something to do. I have to go to
Green Valley with Corowal soon, but ah..maybe I can come by and see
them." He was trying,
really.

She smiled, then. It was a small, but genuine smile. "I would like
that Sarban, and I know the children will as well. And in the
meantime, I will seek out Master Miranek like you suggested." Perhaps
there was hope for them after all....only time would tell.
