It had taken some time to organise. He'd asked about, finally finding a
place on the northern continent that one of his siblings had mentioned,
their dragon helpfully sharing the visual with Donneth.
As he walked into the Weyr he now shared with the Weyrwoman, he casually
asked, "Are you hungry?"
"Yes," she smiled and pushed away the hide she'd been reading. She
always felt a little guilty when he caught her working on 'their'
time, though he never complained.
"Well it just so happens that Donneth and I know of a lovely little
place..." He began. "How about you find something nice to wear, I'm taking
you somewhere special."
"Alright," she smiled and stood, ready to go into their bed chamber to
change. "Anything in particular you want me to wear?" He knew her
wardrobe by now so if he had something specific in mind, she'd wear it
to please him.
"That new dress you got, you've been wanting a reason to wear it."
"Alright," she smiled and disappeared into the sleeping alcove to don
the dress. It didn't take her long contrary to the appearance she'd
cultivated with N'vanik she was able to dress quickly when she wanted
to. A few strokes with her brush and a well placed fastener her hair
was twisted up in a neat swirl on the back of her head.
"Ready," she said as she came back through the curtains.
"You look amazing," he said appreciatively as he took in the sight of her.
He held his hand out to her. "Just perfect, and just right for where we're
going."
"Oh," she smiled with an inquiring look on her face. "Thank you, And
where are we going?"
"A little tavern I heard about up north, Donneth knows the way, he'll share
it with Panitath." K'deren grinned like a little boy. "I hear they
specialise in steaks, and fruity desserts."
"Oh," she said again with a little smile. Hopefully it wouldn't be one
where she'd be recognized right away. Her many Turn's in the north had
made both her and Panitath very well known there. She craved just a
little bit of time alone with K'deren. "I"m looking forward to it."
"I hope you enjoy it, apparently it has been there barely a turn , but long
enough to become known."
"Well that sounds like an adventure! Do I need an overnight bag?"
"If you want to," he said. "My wing doesn't have drills until after the noon
meal," he teased.
"Oh, I want to," she grinned and disappeared only to reappear a moment
later with a very small bag. "A change for tomorrow," she explained.
Though she didn't add that she hadn't included any night gown. He
could find that out later.
"Here's one I packed earlier," K'deren told her. "And as Donneth is ready,
once Panitath is, we can go."
"Good," she smiled and carried the bag out to the outer Weyr and
pulled her riding straps down from their pegs. Working as quickly and
carefully as possible she soon had them in place.
"Whenever you're ready," K'deren said, preparing to help her climb to her
seat, if she needed it.
Though Panithath offered her leg it was still awkward trying to climb up
into her seat and she grabbed K'deren's hand to steady herself. Then when
she finally got into her seat she strapped in. "We're all yours," she smiled
down.
"Then follow us, Donneth will share the visualisation with you two."
The brown sent a clear picture of a sheltered cove, with a pier and some
small fishing boats tied up alongside, and a small, yet properous tavern,
set back from the shore.
"Oooh," she smiled when she saw the picturesque cove. Looking out over
the land, she could see it was well farmed and could tell by the state
of the crops that they were in the north. **Please tell Donneth's
this is lovely,** She smiled toward where the big brown flew easily
beside them.
K'deren turned and waved, gesturing off to the left where there was a wide
grassy area, with more than enough room for two full grown dragons.
She nodded and soon they'd landed and she unstrapped. Dismounting
didn't seem to be quite as problematic as mounting had been and soon
she was on the ground. "This is great," she smiled up at K'deren.
"I thought you'd like it," he said, stowing Donneth's straps in his bag.
"It's such a lovely view, maybe they can give us a table outside."
"That would be great," she smiled and packed up her own straps. "Well,
lets go take a look then."
Offering his arm, K'deren turned in the direction of the Tavern, "After
you."
She started off toward the buildings and soon they were there. "Here,"
she asked and placed her hand on a chair. The table sat on a raised
sort of porch overlooking the view of the small harbor.
K'deren waived to a waiter. "Can we sit here?"
The man nodded, and came over. "This is free, and if you'd like I'll bring
the menu over in a few minutes."
"Thank you," she nodded and seated herself enjoying the gentle cooling
breeze felt wonderful after the constant heat of Dolphin Cove.
K'deren sat opposite, "I hope they have the seafood pie, I hear it's really
good here."
"Oh? You've been here before?" She smiled wondering if he'd come to
check it out before he brought her to see it.
"I've not eaten here," he admitted. "My sister Akessa was meeting our sister
Kesree here, and she asked me to bring her, and Kesree brought her back."
"Nice to have such a big family," she smiled. She'd always thought
her own to be large until she'd met K'deren and his father the
Weyrleader of Riverbluff Weyr and all his offspring. He'd been
friendly and welcoming of her in his son's life and not like a typical
bronzerider sizing up another goldrider but as what a holder or
crafter's father-in-law might.
She'd known almost immediately that Rhosyn had a far better Weyrleader
than she might appreciate, though she knew the woman was half in love
with N'vanik.
She reached out and slipped her hand into K'deren's. "Thank you for this."
"Anytime love," he said, gently squeezing her hand. "I just hope they were
right about the food."

**And they were right** was all she could think about when her mouth
was full of the delicious bovine in some sort of flakey crust and a
heavenly gravy. "Oh my," she said covering her mouth. "I'm going to
run out of superlatives for this place," she smiled at K'deren. "I can
see why some are keeping it a secret."
"I know," his own plate of fish pie was virtually clean, the mashed tuber
topping having vanished first. "I think it should be our secret too."
When their server came by to ask about dessert she reluctantly shook
her head. "It was so good I already ate too much."
K'deren had to agree. "Perhaps we'll save desserts for another time," he
said. "I think these meals have been excellent, would you tell them that in
the kitchens?"
The server nodded and left.
"Perhaps we might find a dessert of another kind later on?" he suggested.
"I like that idea," she smiled back at him.
"A walk first? After I make sure our room is ready."
"That sounds lovely," she said with a contented sigh and stretched. A
good walk would help the meal settle.
It took a moment for the brownrider to speak to the staff about the room
he'd organised, then her returned to the table. He placed his hands on the
back of Cyradis' chair, ready to ease it out for her.
She smiled and rose with his help, then started down the path toward the
beach.
"So peaceful here," K'deren said as he offered his arm. "Belior is rising
and lighting up the ocean, beautiful"
And he was indeed right. As they strolled she hugged his arm. The
rising disk reflected on the water will the light faded to a rosy
glow. She leaned her head against his shoulder. For just one night,
this one was... perfect.
"See Timor following as well," K'deren pointed up. "Such a sight." It was a
romantic theme from harper's tale, where they were. And best of all, no
interruptions.
She turned toward him and slipped both arms around his waist. Looking
up at the tall handsome rider who'd filled her heart with so much joy
over the last months she couldn't help but count herself one lucky
woman.
