Description: L'maret and Leora spot each other in the Dinning Hall and try to decide what they are going to do next.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 8 of Turn 3

**It's good to be back,** L'maret thought, glancing around the near empty Dinning Hall of River Bluff Weyr. For the past two months he had been filling in at Dolphin Cove Weyr, and he had returned to his home Weyr just that morning. The change of scenery had been good for the brownrider. After his weyrmate Kesta left him things had been difficult.
His problems were only amplified in the knowledge that Leora was around, furious with him.

Although Leora was around - sitting across the hall enjoying a little klah while on a short break from the infirmary, in fact - she certainly was not heart broken over her affair with the brownrider anymore. She tied back her long hair and slowly swirled the contents of her mug, completely oblivious to L'maret's presence.

As his gaze shifted around the Dinning Hall L'maret began to pick out some of his old friends in the crowd. A greenrider he vaguely knew caught his eye and smiled. L'maret raised his hand in a half wave of recognition. More riders from his wing and Weyrling Class caught his eye, but he didn't feel like talking to any of them at that moment. Out of the corner of his eye L'maret spotted Kesta, his ex-weyrmate heading to the big pot of klah. He knew that he should go and talk to her. To see if there was anything he could do to make things right between them, but something stopped him. Perhaps it was brunette he had spotted at another table. The one whose face he couldn't see as she was concentrating on something very important, or perhaps just staring intently at her plate. He kept asking him self over and over again,
**Could that be Leora?**

Leora drained the rest of her drink and began clearing away her things when she saw him. L'maret. She didn't know what to think. After all this time she was neither mad at him nor willing to let him back in her life; she hadn't taken any lovers after L'maret left, but that didn't mean that she would pick things up with him again now that he was back. She hadn't even thought of him in a long while, but here he was.
**L'maret...** She turned the name over in her mind as though it was an old trinket rediscovered, familiar and yet somehow foreign at once.

L'maret watched as the girl looked up. **Leora!** He thought, his heart skipping a beat. Even though they had only been friends for a short period of time, and involved romantically for even less he was still elated to see her. He was just beginning to stand up when he remembered their last meeting. The kiss he initiated had pushed Leora too far away for his liking. In its aftermath he had been miserable and alone for the first time since he was 16 turns old. He had begun to drink heavily and had shared his bed with multiple greenriders. Finally, when the call for replacement riders came from Dolphin Cove L'maret saw his chance to escape. The good byes he had time to say were short, Kesta didn't want to see him, and all but his oldest child were to young to grasp the concept that daddy was going away. The brownrider had never found Leora before he had to leave, be he has a sneaking suspescion that she had been avoiding him.

Resting back on his seat L'maret decided that it might be best to see if Leora was willing to talk to him. Not that their last conversation had turned out the way he had planned, but L'maret knew that this time would be different.

**If he wants something , he can start it.** Leora finally decided, sweeping her hair behing her. She gathered up the last of her things and headed for the exit.

Watching the apprentice healer leave the Dinning Hall, L'maret knew that he had to do something. He knew that they would be good together, but he just didn't know how to go about it. He also knew that chasing after her would be no good. Having a public fight would just chase Leora even farther away. As he began to finish his dinner the brownrider decided that he would be patient, and wait until the right moment to approach her.
