Description: The new Weyrlingmaster officially begins his duties at River Bluff Weyr
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 1 of Turn 7
It was his officially starting day. He'd been given this chance and
new start and he wasn't going to squander even a moment away. He made
his way to K'sedel's office to meet with the Weyrleader before
officially resuming his new duties as Weyrlingmaster.
H'vack knocked on the door and waited for entrance.
"Come!" called out K'sedel as he initialed K'reyel's wing fitness report.
H'vack entered. "Good day," he greeted as he moved forward. He'd
already met K'sedel briefly when he'd first arrived a few days ago,
but they hadn't had more than a moment for introductions. "The
celebrations went well, and I'm here to report officially for my new
posting."
"Take a seat," K'sedel gestured to a chair across from his desk. "I've seen
your transfer papers, but why don't you talk me through them?"
"Alright," H'vack replied, taking the seat. "I've been at Windswept
Islands since I Impressed. I've worked in both the weyrling wing and
the fighting wings. I was passed over many times for one of the
Weyrlingmaster spots as the Weyrleader and I didn't always see eye to
eye, so to speak." H'vack shrugged. He didn't want to go into details
about his past with the Weyrleader there. "Anyway, I'd heard you were
in need of a new Weyrlingmaster, so I requested the transfer. I think
the Weyrleader there was happy to see me go. Like I said, not seeing
eye to eye and all." H'vack shrugged.
"I'm a hard worker, and I will push the weyrlings hard, but only with
their best interests in mind. I _know_ how difficult it is to get out
there and fight Thread. They _have_ to learn the ways of the Weyr and
be ready for what lies before them. I may seem harsh on them at times,
but I assure you it will only be to make them stronger, better
fighters and fliers." H'vack stopped speaking and sat back, waiting to
hear the Weyrleader's response.
"I see," K'sedel nodded. The mention of a disagreement bothered him
slightly, could it be something that might happen again, and M'galec had
rather an abrasive personality. "This being passed over - did you let your
resentment show?" He couldn't have that sort of thing affecting the youngest
riders in the Weyr.
"No sir. I was disappointed yes, but I continued to do my part to
teach the weyrlings and fight Thread." H'vack replied bristling just
slightly but doing his best not to show it. "The issue was more of a
_personal_ nature." He hoped that would satisfy the question he'd
heard in the Weyrleader's voice, for he wasn't about to go into
details.
"I assure you, you will have no problems from me here," H'vack added.
He was often blunt and less than emotive, but he always got the job
done.
"I'll take that as your word then?"
"Yes, sir. And I _never_ break my word," H'vack replied sternly,
watching the Weyrleader the whole while. He hoped for a better outcome
here at River Bluff than he had at Windswept Islands, but only time
would tell.
"Then consider this an official welcome to River Bluff," K'sedel stood and
offered his hand. "I look forward to working with you."
