Description: The Weyrwoman meets the new Weyrlingmaster and they discuss the Hatching.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 19 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Solieira, Eirlira, M'galec

The Weyrwoman had heard tell of them having a new Weyrlingmaster but with
all of her fever and recovery and then pushing to get her duties back on track, she
hadn't had a free moment to meet the man. Now with a clutch coming, though, it
was imperative especially as she sought to know that the candidates were ready
and all that went into making a Hatching successful. So she asked Orlaith to
let the man know to be in her office after midday meal. She'd be full then.

Rilarth informed H'vack of the message from the Weyrwoman. Curious to meet
the woman he'd heard so much about in person, H'vack arrived at the designated time.

"Good day, Weyrwoman," he greeted her when he arrived. His eyes scanned her
form and figure. Her hair was what struck him first. The copper color seemed to
shine with the hints of sunlight that filled the room. She was attractive, though in
a much subtler way than some women.

"I am H'vack, at your service." His job was closely tied to hers in so many
ways and he knew it.

"Well met, H'vack. Please have a seat since we have much to discuss." She
made a gesture that it was due partly to her own illness, which was true, that
this meeting had been delayed. "You may call me Rhosyn of course. And we
both know my queen will be having a clutch on the sands soon. So that means
we need to make sure the candidates are prepared."

She was direct and to the point. He liked that about her. Taking a
seat, H'vack nodded at her words.

"Yes, I knew the eggs were due to arrive soon. I've been meeting with
the candidates since my arrival. They seem to be well prepared from
their previous studies. I'm working with the ones who need some extra
assistance. We've started extra training sessions to build strength
and various other _extra_ classes and practices to get those who need
it in top shape for the Hatching." He gave her his little report and
then added, "Most Weyrs allow for egg-touching close to the hatching.
Will that be allowed here?"

"Aye my queen will permit it. We do have some new arrivals, however, that
I fear will need special attention to get up to speed. In particular,
I've assigned special duties to the one called Eirlira. She needs to be around the
injured, firestone...the dirtier parts of dragonriding. And to be observed to see if she
handles it well." Rhosyn hoped he caught her meaning.

H'vack actually grinned at that, "I see we have the same feelings on
the girl. I met with her already and have required her to attend my
extra training sessions. Let me tell you, she was not pleased by the
idea of lifting and hard-core work. I'll make sure I add the things
you suggested to her training straight away."

"Solieira has their chore lists and all of that." Rhosyn was thinking in
her head, then she departed from her current line of questioning. "H'vack,
what sort of Weyrlingmaster are you? What do you hold most important?"

"Respect," the answer was immediate and swift. "We _must_ respect each
other in the Weyr at all times, respect the dragons, respect the
responsibility we've been asked to carry on. I'm not easy on my
weyrlings. I can tell you that. In fact some of them may hate me during
the training itself, but when they learn what they need to survive
each and every day as a rider, they change their tune rather quickly."
He was direct and to the point, just as she had been. It was something
he liked about her the moment they'd met.

"Well enough. If there is ever anything you need from me, ask and you may
have it." She shuffled her hides for a moment, considering the situation. A
good Weyrlingmaster was necessary for the Weyr to function. "I'll warn you,
though. Your second...you should meet him as soon as possible and judge for
yourself."

H'vack frowned. He hadn't worked with the man yet. He'd heard the man
worked mostly with the Healers if there wasn't a set of weyrlings to
train.

"I'll do that," he replied, a frown creasing his brow. He wasn't sure
what the Weyrwoman was getting at but clearly there was something
about his Second that he needed to find out.

"Do you have any questions for me then?" Curious, she wondered what the man
would require.

He paused and considered that, "How accommodating is Orlaith to
visitors once she Clutches? I need to prepare the candidates as best
as possible and all queens react differently. Will you be with us when
we visit the Clutch? Will we have one visit, more than one?" He
contemplated what else he might need to know to best do his job.

"She's fine as long as they are respectful and behave. Future visits would be
determined on the success of the first. I'll most likely be there." Rhosyn knew
it would be better to judge her queen's mood before she allowed the candidates
near.

"Very well," he was pleased with her response. He much preferred
working with goldriders who were open to the fact that they needed to
get the candidates in to visit with the eggs. They never wanted a
dragon to hatch and not be able to find a lifemate. That was one of
the worst things he'd ever experienced.

"Well Weyrlingmaster, I trust you'll keep in touch and I know you need
to meet your staff so I'll let you get to your duties. Seems as if I need to
get back to mine too." Frowning slightly at the number of hides still on
her desk, Rhosyn wondered if a drudge could bring her some rolls.

H'vack nodded. "Thank you for your time Rhosyn. You know where to find
me if you need me." With that he rose and headed back to his own duties.
