Date: month 2, day 1 of Turn 7

"Come on boys, let's make the most of this!" D'naz chuckled, slapping
an arm around T'mar's shoulders. He hadn't had a night out with his
closest friends in some time. They'd all been so busy. Tonight,
however, they were headed a nice small tavern they frequented for some
drinks and some dragonpoker.

Turning, D'naz called, "F'aen. come on. I _know_ you'll enjoy this."
D'naz had invited the younger rider to join them. He wanted F'aen to
get to know his friends. D'naz wanted F'aen to be around _all_ the
time. Besides, after what had happened with the weyrlings, D'naz
needed _all_ the support he could get to get back on his feet.

F'aen was, and always had been, a very social person, so he was not
opposed to hanging out with D'naz's friends. The only problem was that
most of the bluerider's friends were much older than F'aen. He felt
like a child among adults. Still, he knew that D'naz was still
emotionally vulnerable after M'lak's death and so he smiled back at
his lover.

"I am sure I will have all of your marks by the end of the evening."
F'aen grinned back as he walked slightly behind D'naz, who had walked
ahead with T'mar.

D'naz grinned to F'aen. Then reached back his other arm and tried to
pull the greenrider forward. "We shall see about that. T'mar, K'pat,
and I have been playing dragonpoker here for _Turns_. We've gotten
_very_ good at it, right boys?" D'naz had already had a few drinks
_before_ they left to calm his nerves and allow him to relax.

F'aen rolled his eyes at that, a smile tugging across his face. Just
because he was young didn't mean that he hasn't played his fair share
of dragonpoker. He didn't like the possessive look that K'pat kept
sending his way, or the way the greenrider stayed close to D'naz's
side.

"We were playing dragonpoker before you were out of diapers." K'pat laughed.

"Come on," T'mar said encouraged, dragging D'naz into the tavern. It
was a dingy little tavern, well off the beaten path. There was a main
room and some smaller rooms scattered throughout.

"Ah! D'naz, Tmar, K'pat!" The beaming, rather broad tavern owner
declared when they entered. He hurried over to them. "Would you like
your own little corner again?" He asked, his eyebrows raising. "And
who is this?" He looked to F'aen.

D'naz grinned at the tavern keeper. He reached an arm around F'aen's
waist. "This is F'aen. He's with me." He grinned and looked to his new
lover.

F'aen couldn't help the flush of pleasure that he felt as D'naz
pressed him to his side. The greenrider hadn't realized how good it
would feel to have D'naz publicly acknowledge their relationship.

"Nice to meet you." F'aen tipped his head to the keeper while K'pat
and T'mar made themselves comfortable in their usual corner.

"Come on! We don't have all night!" K'pat called.

D'naz grinned. "Start the rounds my friend." He reached into this
money bag and placed a few coins in the man's hand. The man's face lit
up and he nodded eagerly. "That'll feed his family for quite awhile,"
D'naz whispered to F'aen. He looked after the tavern keeper with a
thoughtful gaze. "He has a nice family," D'naz added before K'pat
called him back to the moment.

D'naz tugged F'aen over and they joined the others at the table. The
tavern keeper brought them drinks and bread. He smiled at D'naz, who
only gave him a slight nod of the head to let him know he understood.

T'mar pulled a deck of cards out of his jacket pocket. "Alright men, anty up."

F'aen withdrew his pouch of marks and tossed in the required amount.
He was more interested in the ale that the keeper had brought to the
table and he eagerly grabbed a tankard and took a generous gulp. Ale
wasn't something that he drank often, but had been craving over the
past couple of days.

"Easy kid." K'pat snorted, earning a glare from F'aen as he set his
tankard back down on the table with force.

D'naz chuckled and patted F'aen on his back, "He's not a kid. He can
handle anything thrown his way." D'naz took a healthy drink from his
own mug. He tossed a few coins onto the table.

T'mar started dealing the cards. "I don't know about that D'naz. We'll
have to see about that. He _is_ young.. You know we've had a good time
in the past. Not sure he can keep up with us." T'mar winked at D'naz
and gave him a half suggestive grin.

F'aen couldn't stop the automatic tightening of his jaw at the
insinuation that T'mar was making. The sharp pang of jealousy
surprised F'aen. He was weyrbred, and had never been prudish or an
exclusive person. Yet it made him look at D'naz differently when T'mar
had that smug look on his face.

"Or keep up with _us_." K'pat interjected with a saucy wink.

"Now boys," D'naz replied with a shake of his head. "Enough of your
teasing. F'aen is strong and fast. Don't you worry about that," he
winked at his lover with a smile on his lips. "Let's play already."
D'naz looked through his cards as he took a drink from the mug. "Hmm,
I'll raise the bet one." He tossed a coin onto the pile.

T'mar matched his bet, but didn't raise it further.

D'naz's words eased some of the tension that had been gathering in
F'aen's chest. Tossing a coin into the center of the table, the
greenrider studied his hand. It was pretty lousy to say the least.
Hopefully he would be able to pick up some better cards to go with the
pair of bronzes that he held.

With a quirk of his lips, F'aen spoke to Scarleth.

**Ask Keluth to send this image to D'naz.** F'aen passed along a
particularly graphic imagine from earlier of him and D'naz.

D'naz who had been sipping his drink received the image and nearly
choked on the drink. He sputtered for a moment as his eyes flicked to
F'aen and a feral grin formed at the corners of his mouth.

"You okay there, D'naz?" T'mar inquired, looking at his friend with
concern. He caught the glance and had to stifle his own reaction. He
had always liked D'naz, but had known for some time that _they_ were
not meant to be more than friends. He flicked his eyes to the younger
lad. If he couldn't have D'naz he simply wanted him to be happy.

F'aen turned deceptively innocent eyes on D'naz, "Yeah, are you
allright?" He smirked a little, bumping the bluerider's foot beneath
the table.

K'pat rolled his eyes. All of this kiddie-love stuff made him sick.
What was D'naz thinking knocking around with some young whelp fresh
out Weyrlinghood? Shards, F'aen probably didn't even have to shave
yet, not with that baby face. The older greenrider was unimpressed
with D'naz's choice but figured his friend would outgrow the
relationship quickly. He would just remain as quiet as possible until
then.

D'naz nudged F'aen's foot in return and gave him a look that said he
would pay for that later, in all the _right_ ways.

"I'm good and I'm going to win all your marks, so you boys better be
on your best game tonight," D'naz said as the game continued.
