Description: The bluerider reaches out to the young bronzerider.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 2, day 16 of Turn 7

"So congrats on winning Vilarth's flight and all that. Even if
it is a little belated. Okay maybe a lot belated." E'rae was sure he'd paid
respects at the Hatching, though. The bluerider would not have forgotten. Still,
seeing D'ren face-to-face at the wing?s table, it was the first thought in
his head.

"Thank you. I was very surprised." D'ren smiled. "Menanth and I
were very happy with the Clutch." It was amazing to think there were young
dragons that Menanth had sired that would soon be entering the fighting
Wings.

"Well I know most of us in the Weyr were glad to see Vilarth have a good
Flight. And your young man doing as well as he did was a welcome
relief. So count yourself in the Weyr's good graces. Good to have some new blood
too of course." E'rae chewed on some bread. "How do you find yourself doing
in the Wing?"

"I'm doing well. I've only made slight mistakes and no
injuries so far, thank Faranth." He did his best, but he also
knew luck played a role. He'd been lucky.

"Ah mistakes like what?" E'rae wondered if they were just beginners'
mistakes or if it was something he might need to correct quickly. The
bluerider had made an almost fatal mistake and he never forgot it.

"Sometimes I drift slightly out of position, especially on
windy days when I forget to compensate. It's happened in drills a few times,
but only once during Fall. Menanth and I are always extra careful during the
real thing." His bronze could be a bit excitable, but fighting Thread made
him focus. "And once I forgot which formation we were doing and
nearly caused an accident." D'ren smiled sheepishly. "Early morning drills after a late
night."

"Ah. Well I hope that lets you know that maybe you can't have late
nights when you have early morning drills. And maybe even...you know
you can ask your wingmates to hold you accountable? So if the man next to you
saw you drifting, he could have let you know." E'rae relied on his mates to
see where he couldn't.

"I didn't ask them to, but a few of them _have_. I
heard loud and clear that I was getting in the way." D'ren had
apologized, feeling bad about his mistake.

"Ah yeah sometimes we're not so patient with the rookies. Perhaps
if you approached them, asking for help, their approach
toward you would change. Maybe now they think you think
you know everything." It was often an issue, especially when you
were talking about a young bronzerider. "Probably didn't help you
were a transfer..so they don't know you, you know?"

"It was more difficult when I first got here."
Although D'ren still hadn't made many friends in the Wing.

"Then things are improving at least. That's a step in the right direction." E'rae looked at
his hand for a moment. "Look, would you come if I invited you to
some...social gatherings? Maybe if they saw you a bit more loose and in a
relaxed setting it might go better."

D'ren's eyes brightened. "Oh, that would be great. Although I don't want
you to feel that you _need_ to invite me." D'ren had never been too social,
but this had all been much easier before.

"Not a problem. Anything in the name of wing relations." **And maybe having friends in high
places**

"Thank you, E'rae."
