Getting out of his bathing tub, Karhal gave a jaw stretching yawn and
rubbed the water from his face. Just returning from a five day journey
to his parent's cothold, he was exhausted. His mother had given him
proper scoldings for not informing her earlier that he had been
courting anyone, leaving her unprepared for any news that he might be
getting married once again. His father had simply nodded and pulled
him aside to make sure that his son was not entering into another
loveless union. The day long visit, they had complained, was not
enough, but thankfully they understood his duties and the necessity of
the prompt return.
Prompt. He gave a soft sigh. He had left a message for Loella, telling
her only that he would return as soon as he was able. He would have to
make sure to make his apologies first thing in the morning. Wrapping a
thick towel around his waist, he lit one of his lamps and made his way
to his bedroom.
Loella hummed to herself as she crossed the courtyard with a laundry
basket full of clean clothing on her hip. Karhal had said he would be
gone a few days and she'd missed seeing him even if it was usually
only a short visit for dinner in the evenings. She'd told herself
she'd make sure his cot and clothing were all clean when he finally
got back.
But when she came in the door she saw a light coming from the bedroom. "Karhal?
She set the basket on the table and rushed into then next room. "Oh
my," she said and blinked.
In the process of drying his hair with another towel, Karhal spun at
the call of his name. His eyes widened as Loella rushed in and he
froze, his breath caught and he felt his stomach muscles clench in
immediate response. He said nothing, and just looked at her.
Her mouth opened and closed a few times before she spun so her back
was to him. "I'm sorry," she gasped. There had been little left to the
imagination and the sight of all those muscles, part of them wet, was
burned into her brain. The little towel around his waist had hidden
part of his anatomy but what she'd seen left her breathless.
There was a quick rustle of cloth after she turned and when he finally
approached Loella, he wore light linen sleep pants, tied loosely
around his hips. He was still mostly damp, but at least he was
semi-clothed. A light hand fell on her shoulder. "It's safe to turn
around." His voice was soft, but there was warmth there. "Eventually,
you'll have to get used to seeing me like this, you know."
"I know," she sighed. "It was just... a surprise." She tried to keep
her eyes on his face her fingers itched to reach out and touch some of
those muscles. "I want to get very used to seeing you like this." A
smile slowly spread across her face and she stepped a little closer
and put her arms around him. Turning her head she laid it against his
chest and just listened to his heart beat for a moment.
The fact that she pressed against him was a surprise although a
welcome one. He looked down at the brown hair tickling his chest and
couldn't help a smile at the sight. He carefully wrapped his arms
around her and stroked her hair with callused fingers. "You will."
"I don't know how much longer I can wait," she sighed. She couldn't
believe her father was making them wait for three whole months and she
was impatient beyond belief.
There was a low but understanding chuckle. "Believe me, it's not easy
on me either. Especially having you this close." He unconsciously slid
his hand down to caress her shoulders and back. She was warm and soft;
it was a struggle for him not to pull the laces on the back of her
dress.
She pulled her head away and looked up at him. "Why do we have to
wait? We're going to be married. Its just..." She could feel her body
react to his touch and lifted her face for a kiss.
He went still for a long moment as he looked down at her. It sprang to
mind that there were several reasons. Something could happen to him
before the three months was up; it wasn't appropriate...it wasn't...he
stared down at her lips and suddenly all of the arguments fled his
brain. He groaned and with a light grunt, lifted her catching her
bottom on his arm and found her lips with his.
Her arms went around his neck and she gave him her heart in her kiss.
She'd loved him for so long that each moment they had to wait to
finally be together was like torture. When he picked her up she gave a
small exclamation of surprise but renewed the depth of her kisses.
He steered them back until the back of his legs hit his bed and being
careful, he sat, keeping her astride him and on his lap. He pulled
away and caught her cheeks in his palms to make her look at him.
"Loella...if you give yourself to me now, nothing will keep me from
making you my wife. Nothing. There'll be no other lovers between us,
either. I won't share you."
Her response was immediate. "There has never been anyone but you for
me Karhal. I have but one thing left to give you and it has always
been yours and will always be yours." Her eyes were wide and guileless
but full of sincerity. "Please take it," she breathed.
He knew that they shouldn't be doing this, not yet, and as his hand
trailed in a caress over her neck and shoulder, he took a slow breath,
bending to place a light tender kiss on her lips. He pulled back and
with slow, deliberate pulls began to loosen the ties at her neck and
back. He met her gaze with his own, holding her attention. He wanted
to give her the chance to tell him to stop, but kept going until the
smooth skin of her back was bare and the cloth around her shoulders
loose. He bent, moving aside the cloth to press gentle kisses along
her neck and shoulder as his hands slid the material off of her arms.
Her body seemed to rush with feeling all over in a way she'd never
experienced and she bent her neck to give him greater access. Her
breathing deepened and she helped him pull her arms from her dress.
His hands were oh so warm against the cool air.
He pulled the cloth down to her waist and pulled away with a hard
swallow as he took his first look at her bare flesh. He took a soft
breath. "You're beautiful." He met her eyes and pushed her hair from
her face. "Do you trust me?"
Loella sucked in a soft breath as the cool air puckered her nipples,
but she nodded. "I trust you," she smiled.
He moved her off of his lap and with gentle hands he smoothed the
remainder of her skirt and dress off her hips to pool on the floor at
her feet. Before she could attempt to cover herself, he gripped her
wrists lightly and placed her hands on his chest. The tightness in his
jaw betrayed how much he had to control his impulses; the need to
simply pull her back to him and relieve his own aches. He had to make
this good for her more than for himself and considering her innocence,
he desperately wanted not to frighten her. His hands left her wrists
and began caressing her bare flesh, familiarizing himself with the
curves of her waist and the smoothness of her thighs.
She trembled but she knew she wanted this, wanted him. She was not
uneducated miss though she was still untouched, she knew what was
supposed to happen between a man and a woman. His hands were gentle
and she felt herself calm down from the sudden disrobing. She stepped
forward between his knees and because of the difference in their
height barely had to lower her head to kiss him.
He met her lips eagerly and then wrapping his arms around her tiny
waist, half picked her up and turned to lay them both on the bed, him
at her side. His fingers brushed over her nipples, then followed the
path his hand had traced with his lips. "I promise I'll make it good
for you, Loella..my wife. My beauty..." Presented with the lush
beauty she offered, he began to worship the sensitive, delicate points
of her body that would bring her the most pleasure.

Her lips curved up as she lay cradled against his side. Her love had
finally found it's ultimate expression and she'd enjoyed more than she
could ever have imagined. Despite the moment of pain the experience
had gone beyond her wildest dreams. "That was wonderful."
Karhal's face was more relaxed than most people ever saw. He kissed
Loella's brow and nodded. "Yes." He rubbed her arm slowly, keeping her
close. There was a smidgen of guilt lingering in him, for taking her
innocence before they were properly wed. It hadn't been what should
have happened, but he couldn't change it, nor could he regret it. He
was mostly thankful that he hadn't hurt her too greatly. "Was it what
you expected?"
"No," she said softly with an impish grin he couldn't see. After a
long enough pause she added, "better."
At first he paused, and then chuckled deeply, his chest rumbling
against her. He then looked up at a window and frowned. It was getting
late and her parents would not thank him for allowing her to stay even
later. He sighed. He was comfortable and she was a pleasing armful.
"It's late."
She sighed. She wanted nothing more than to just lay there in his arms
and savor the experience but she knew she had to get home soon. She
was certain her mother had dinner ready and would be expecting her. "I
should probably wash up first. Though I wish I didn't have to wash the
smell of you off me. My parents would probably notice."
He sighed, frowned and sat up, pulling her up gently with him. "You
should. And I wish you could too, but it's not possible. Not yet." He
turned to face her. "We can't make too much of a habit of this,
Loella. Not yet. I want you, but we have to be careful. "
"Alright, " she pouted for a moment but she knew he was right. There
were so very many reasons he was right. Yet it didn't change how she
felt. She got up and quickly washed and dressed. Still a little shy
she avoided looking in his eyes as she did.
He sighed and watched her, but noting her avoidance, lifted her chin
to look in her eyes. "Never be ashamed or embarrassed, Loella. " He
bent to give her a longing kiss. "We belong to each other now."
