Tell me, have you seen her?

A frenzied worry was slowly overtaking all Sinla's thoughts as she marched
through the hallways. Worries about her daughter, what she had seen, what
she might say or do about it. The way Genna had looked at her, the absolute
horror and disgust in her eyes, oh it was just too much. When she had
failed to catch up with her daughter in the Hallways, she had started a
list in her head of places Genna might run to and one of the very first
places on that list was the Infirmary, where her brother was supposed to be
working. She knew Genna idolized her uncle and it was a good bet it was him
she wanted to talk to most at this moment. But oh, if Chupsin knew.. It
would ruin her. It would probably ruin him as well. She walked as fast as
she could without raising alarm and soon burst into the infirmary, looking
around in hopes of spotting her brother.

At that moment, Chupsin was actually in his quarters, eating his lunch. The
junior journeyman on duty could handle it for that long. Kicked back on his
sofa with a soup bowl in his hands, he was oblivious to what was going on
around him. Tourniquet was curled up by the heater.

Sinla rushed around the Infirmary, checking for a sign of either Genna or
her brother and finding none. When a somewhat uncertain apprentice informed
her Chupsin was in his quarters, she took it to be a sure sign he was
talking to Genna in there and she all but stormed in. "Hello? Anyone in?"
she called for good measure, her heart pounding unhealthily fast.

"Yes, for Faranth's sake. And thankfully I have my clothes on." Chupsin
stood up from the couch, hearing the worried tone and wondering if this was
an emergency. "What's going on?"

"Have you seen Genna?" she asked without bothering with pleasantries,
looking around as if he was hiding her somewhere. He didn't look like he
had just heard his sister was an adulteress, though. For a moment the panic
washed away, until she realized that meant she still had no clue on where
her daughter actually was.

"No why?" He was beginning to get curious now. Something was indeed up. And
by the look on Sinla's face, it might very well cause problems. Chupsin had
enough to deal with, he didn't need family problems as well.

"We.. had a fight, she ran off," Sinla said, trying to calm herself with a
deep breath. "I have no idea where she took off to."

"You had a fight about what?" Chupsin was the younger sibling, true, but he
had been the only boy. That meant he was used to getting his way with his
sisters. So he didn't think twice about demanding answers from Sinla.

"It was personal," Sinla frowned. "Anyway, if you see her, tell her that
I'm looking for her." She really did hope she would see Genna sooner than
Chupsin did. Maybe if she did find her before she told someone what she had
seen, this crisis could still be averted.

"Personal? I'm a healer. I deal with personal all day." His face changed
then. "Sinla, what have you done?" His sister had frustrated his niece many
times over the turns but never enough for her to run off. Something had
happened.

"Who says it was something I did?" Sinla frowned. "Never mind, alright?
She's probably at one of her friends'."

"Because you have that guilty look on your face that means it's something
you did." Now he was hoping that he did find his niece. Silently, he sent
Tourniquet to see if the bronze could spy her somewhere. The firelizard
launched from his perch and disappeared.

Sinla shook her head, anger flaring in her eyes. He had no idea! "Well, I'm
sorry I bothered you, I'm going to see if she is at one of her friends'."
And with that she stormed off, cutting any chance for discussion short. If
he started questioning her, who knew what he would get her to admit?
