Reven

Arippa sat at her dressing table finishing up her nightly
preparations. If there was anything her Aunt's had taught her it was
the importance of skin care to help keep a woman's beauty in the long
term. Of course she'd learned to brew her own lotions and creams and
did so with a light fragrance of Lavender.

But now she was just finishing brushing her long dark hair when she
heard her husband coming down the hall to her room.

Reven whistled softly to himself as he walked from his office to his
wife's quarters. He rarely ever spent the night in his private bedroom
as he preferred to share a bed with Arippa. After all, that's why he
had married her! When he walked in to find her sitting in front of her
mirror he smiled, "Good evening, darling."

"Good evening," she smiled into the mirror. "How was your day?" Hers
had been a little eventful but more productive than anything else.

"It was good," he came and put his hands on her shoulders and dropped
a kiss to the top of her head, "but it is better now."

"I'm glad," she said and she truly meant it. For the first time in a
long time there was no reservation no muttering beneath her breath.
"It was beautiful today. But winter's on the way. I could feel some
snow in the air."

Reven massaged her shoulders lightly, "I like the winter," he bent and
spoke directly in her ear, "it's just another excuse for me to cuddle
with my wife beneath the furs."

"Well," she smiled up at him in the mirror and reached up to touch his
hand with one of hers. "Be thankful this isn't Amber Hills or we
wouldn't be able to dig out for all the snow." She turned and stood
up. Walking into his arms she put hers around his waist. "I'm sorry
I've been distant lately."

The holder gladly gathered his wife in his arms, loving the soft
bundle that she made against him, "Is it the rumors?" He asked softly,
reaching up to cup her face with one hand while his thumb traced the
silky skin of her cheek.

She sighed and laid her head against his chest. "I probably should
have just ignored them. But it was hard." She wasn't proud of her
reaction. Her time under Felyna's mentoring should have taught her
better and she knew it. The Lady Holder of Emerald Falls was every
inch a Lady at all times and had taught her many things in her short
time there. She lifted her head and looked up into his eyes. "I just
love you too much."

Smiling, Reven bent his head and kissed Arippa, "You have no idea how
happy I am to hear that. I know some men don't care if their wife
loves them but... I have never wanted a marriage like that, I don't
know how Lord Corowal manages with a wife and a mistress."

She shivered and closed her eyes savoring the kiss and his words.
"He'd never limit himself to just two."

More than two? Reven just didn't understand those kind of men,
although he knew plenty of them, and even had few friends that would
rather "spread the love" rather than settle down with one woman. "My
wife is all I need." He assured her, trailing his fingers through her
silky hair.

Her lips quirked up and she gave a happy sigh. Then in a bold move
she'd never have contemplated earlier in her life, her hands moved
from his waist and down his lower back to cup firm buttocks beneath
his tunic. It was a very sure sign of what she wanted.

Reven flashed a toothy grin, "Why Miss Arippa, I do believe you are
trying to tell me something." Before she could answer, the holder bent
and swept his wife into his arms, one arm hooked beneath the crook of
her knees, the other supporting her back as he carried her to the bed
that they shared.

She giggled and nodded then whooped when he picked her up. She felt
safe in his arms and threw hers around his neck lifting her face for
another kiss.

The man happily complied, kissing Arippa warmly before depositing her
on their bed. Taking only the time it took to cast off his boots,
Reven joined Arippa, his body covering hers as he claimed her lips in
another kiss.
