It wasn't really like him. However, he had decided to be on his own instead of going wherever
K'mai was going. Pulling up to the bar, he grabbed an ale mug and began to drink. After some time of this, his lips got a little looser. And then time passed. Before he knew it...
"Oh yeah, K'lvin is so polite and he's so nice and better than me. I wish he'd just go drop off a cliff." E'rae shared a knowing look with the bartender. "I mean who does he think he is? Just because a man isn't there, he can just walk up and talk to your woman and make her think you're an idiot because you're not some fancy bronzerider.. Pffttt." Making a disappointed noise in the back of his throat, he emptied his mug.
"Don't you hate it when men do that? Maybe he didn't know she was taken though. You her weyrmate?" The man beside him questioned. The dragonrider had been surprised to hear the name 'K'lvin' come up in the conversation at the bar.
"Father of her baby. Till there was no baby..." His eyes got cloudy then and he was quiet. Then he picked right back up on his previous subject. "I mean okay I have duties and all of that so I can't be there every moment. Then the next thing I know I'm getting a door slammed in my face because I try to take care of her. I treat her like she's weak she says. I make her feel ashamed she says. Oh but K'lvin, he's just great. Real great guy. Just because _He_ eats with her one time and makes good conversation. The shells is that?"
The man beside of E'rae raised his mug up to his lips, taking a thoughtful sip before placing the cup back down onto the worn, polished wood of the bar, "Have you told her you want to be exclusive?"
"She wants to be a woman of the Weyr she says. That means nonexclusive. And anyway, there will always be Flights. And there will always be men." He shook his head. He was a dragonrider-he could never live like the holder he was. He knew that. "She puts herself up as a Flight moth without telling me. She doesn't want exclusive. She says she wants me and then she tells me to go away. And then she talks about how nice K'lvin is." Women were just confusing. Men were more simple.
"A flight moth?" The man spoke the words softly, surprise clearly evident in his voice before he lifted his mug again to his lips. "I wouldn't have figured her for that type." Especially since he knew that Bahji took great efforts to stay way from the flight weyrs. Shaking his head, the friendly drinker said, "You never can tell with women, Friend. Just treat 'em with respect."
"You never would have figured her? How do you know her?" E'rae turned around, catching that. He didn't know this guy..
"My name is K'lvin, nice to meet you." The bronzerider stuck out his hand.
The look that passed over his face was a study in contrasts. When all the thoughts connected and E'rae's alcohol-fueled haze was lifted, he realized what he had done. His first honest reaction was that he wanted to punch the man in the face. However, said man was a bronzerider and that thought was quicker than his reaction. So he swallowed his spit and stood up. He felt like a fool. "Goodnight." And then he walked away. **You are an idiot. Of course she would want that over you.**
K'lvin sighed as he watched E'rae walk away. He hated having enemies, especially since he hadn't done anything intentionally to the bluerider. K'lvin had no idea that Bahji was involved with anyone. He had never approached the woman, either, with the express intent of wooing her, he just found that he enjoyed her company. "Oh, well." K'lvin turned back to his cup of ale.
