Relea

Relea

Coran moved at a quick pace toward the Lord Holder's office, one hand
grasping the letter from his father and the other hand laced with
Relea's. His mind was still reeling from the news in the letter. He
tried to picture his brother's room torn apart and bloody. His father
and Arippa seemed to have some small, remote hope that Reven was just
missing and wanted a search to ensue. Coran had the horrible feeling
in the pit of his stomach that his big brother was gone... For good.

Knocking on Corowal's door, he pushed it open when he heard the Holder
speak, "Lord Corowal, forgive us for barging in. We just received word
from Green Valley. Reven is missing." He laid the letter on Corowal's
desk.

Relea followed her new husband into the Holder's room with a bit more
reluctance than Coran. She remained behind him, allowing the healer
to take the lead. After all, it was his brother - now her brother in
law.

"What? And who would you be?" Corowal asked. He gave the man an
annoyed look for barging in without appointment, before picking up the
letter on his desk.

"I am Coran, Reven's brother, this is my wife Relea. We just received
this message." He said anxiously.

Relea took a couple steps closer to Coran, silent, her eyes upon the
Lord as her perused the message.

Corowal gave discreet signal to the two guards stationed at his office
door. "Reven missing, presumed murdered? What the shells is going on
in Green Valley?" Corowal sounded angry but not at Coran. It had been
such a trouble to find Reven to hold the hold that he didn't want to
go thru that again.

"Go get Sarban and Captain Zandan," he told one of the guards who
saluted and hurried out.

All the healer could do was shake his head, "I don't know, sir,
everything was fine when we left." Coran had heard of this kind of
drama happening at bigger Holds but not as much at the minor Hold
level. Still, Green Valley_was_ a large minor hold and growing.

"Are you sure?" Corowal asked. The man was wearing healer's knots, so
he might not be as aware of hold's internal politicing than someone
from Steward's staff for instance.

Relea glanced over at her husband. How could he not be sure? He was
the holder's brother. Wouldn't Coran know more than anyone else save
maybe the hold's steward?

Coran cocked an eyebrow but kept his tone polite, this_was_ the Lord
Relea pursed her lips, but offered no commentary. First, no one but
Coran would understand her and second, she'd probably only make things
worse.

"Good," Zandan grunted. He glanced Corowal and they switched some
discreet signals, they were actually simplified sign language. "I'm
probably going to Green Valley personally, as soon as I've wrapped up
this end, and the started the investigation."

Coran didn't know what passed between the two men but nodded his head,
"Good, we are in a hurry to get back to Green Valley ourselves, as you
can imagine."

Relea canted her head to the side. The signals were familiar - very
familiar. Did they know her language?

Zandan nodded. "Let's not waste anytime then."

"Keep me informed,"Corowal asked of him. "I'll fill in Sarban when he
comes." There was no sight of his Steward, he must had gotten caught
up somewhere.

Coran took Relea's arm and escorted her from the Lord Holder's office.
He had only one goal, only one thought, and that was of his home and
his brother. **He has to be alive.**
