Birthingday Wishes for the Hallmaster

The party was set. Famell was dressed in a nice tunic and pants. He
didn't know _all_ the details, but he knew they were going to make it
a fun night for everyone at the Hall. After the onslaught of
hurricanes and other things this month, it was time for the Hall to
just let loose and celebrate.

Heading down the main stairs, he could hear music already playing in
the large hall. He grinned. It sounded like some of the party-goers
were already having a great time.

Moving towards the room, he wasn't surprised when everyone called out
a "Happy Birthingday" to him as he pushed open the doors.

He grinned from ear to ear. "Let's not stop celebrating. Tonight is a
night for us all to party and enjoy."

Shilara stood back with the rest of the crowd, applauding softy as the
Hallmaster came into the room. After his declaration about continuing
the party, she walked up to him, her eyebrows lifted slightly, "Well
happy birthday, Hallmaster. You will save me a dance?" She winked.

"Of course," he smiled at her happily. "I think it will be the
highlight of my evening."

Veerona was happily ignoring everything. All she wanted was cake. She
kept eyeing it, thinking maybe if no one was looking, she could just
get a little taste. Maybe when the dancing started. She had to work
fast, though, before her bedtime.

"The cooks sure do a better job than us at baking, don't they?" Naton
said as he popped up next to Veerona, seeing her eye the cake.

"They'd better or I'd have to fire them," Jylanya whispered to the two
of them as she placed another plate of sweets on the table. "Not too
many," she said to Vee. "You're sweet enough already." She gave Naton
a look that said 'watch her.' Then she was off to see to something
else pressing.

Milga hung around near the wall, feeling out of the place.

Sirjath landed outside the dolphin hall and Uetia dismounted with a
look around. When was last time she visited her old hall? Before
Impressing Sirjath, way too long ago. High time she dropped by and the
Hallmaster's birthday was good reason as any for a visit. She took of
her helmet, shook her short blond hair out and removed rest of her
flight gear. She need to place to store them.

Kirten came into the room with a small present he'd made for the
Hallmaster. It wasn't much a bit of whittled ivory from something he
had picked up on one of his testing runs with Naton's lights. But the
pair of dolphins were polished with loving care as they jumped out of a
wave.

Having found a drudge to take her flight gear, Uetia walked in with
confident stride of dragonrider. She greeted warmly familiar faces
from her days as dolphineer.

Milga saw the gift in Kirten's hands and groaned. She had nothing for
the Hallmaster. No marks to buy anything and no skills to make
anything. Her only skills seemed to be swimming and diving.

Seeing the plate, she grabbed for them and munched happily, having
something to occupy her for a bit. "Ton, when is there gonna be some
musics?" Forgetting her manners, she might have been talking with her
mouth full if the garbled nature of her words were any indication. She
also might have put too much into her mouth, thinking someone was
likely going to take it away from her.

"Happy birthday, Hallmaster Famell, from the dolphineers of River
Bluff Weyr, who I have honour of representing," Uetia greeted the
hallmaster and offered him the gift she and the other dolphineers had
got him together. Famell hadn't been hallmaster yet while Uetia had
been apprentice here.

"And from Dolphin Cove," Pierka said from behind her. She visited the
hall fairly frequently so she'd known the party was coming and walked
from the Weyr instead of flying. Near her last month of pregnancy
Pierka was feeling ungainly but still enjoyed a good walk and a little
fun with the dolphins who always welcomed her.

"Thank you," Famell said as he greeted Uetia. "Come enjoy the
festivities. The music is about to begin and there are sweet treats
aplenty."

Then he turned his eyes towards Pierka. "Ah, Pierka," he eyed her
belly and his eyes lit with joy for her. "All of us here at the Hall
have been so proud of you and all you've accomplished." He pulled her
into a light hug as he greeted the former Hall resident. "I hope that
babe will grow to love the dolphins as much as we do." He winked as he
pulled away.

Then turning to the group he addressed all gathered. "Thank you all
for coming today to help me celebrate," his voice boomed over the
crowd. "Enjoy the cakes and treats and the music!" He gestured towards
a group who moved forward and began playing some songs for those
gathered. He was happy and content to see the people he cared about
having a joyful time together.
