Arippa or Faldrimme

Arippa

Qorri was still feeling her way around the hold, meeting people and
getting used to who did what and how they did it. She didn't want to
exert her authority just yet. She needed to make sure these people
respected her first. No, she had time to study the situation while
just handling the management part of it for now before she made
changes. Of course when someone came to find her to let her know that
the Lady wanted her, she didn't think anything of it. Perhaps Arippa
wanted to discuss the menu or some other domestic chore she had an
idea for. So Qorri headed to meet her, not expecting what awaited her.

Arippa stood looking out onto the snow covered square in front of the
hold. Her small salon was warm and cheery but somewhere out there was
her husband. Someone had him and someone was going to pay when she
finally found them. "Come in," she said absently when she heard the
knock at the door.

Entering quietly, Qorri shut the door behind her, a scrap hide in hand just
in case she needed to take notes. Her keys jangled some on her belt, but
she didn't sit. They might be going somewhere, after all. "Lady Arippa, you
sent for me?"

Arippa turned from the window with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"Yes Qorri," she said and moved toward one of the chairs motioning the
Headwoman to take the other. "I need your help."

Sitting down easily, Qorri still didn't have reason to be alarmed so the woman
had a curious expression. "Very well, what do you require?"

"I know it may sound odd, but I want a set of dragonrider leathers," she said.

"Oh? You mean the pants and jacket right? Cause I doubt you would have use for
a harness." The girl probably didn't need a harness, for sure.
Leathers were easy
enough to come by. Any tanner could manage it.

"Yes," she nodded even scandalizing herself at the request though the
Headwoman seemed to take it in stride. "Trousers and jacket and any
other appropriate apparel. For myself," she added.

Qorri couldn't help but wonder just whose dragon the Lady thought she
was going to ride. As far as she knew none of Arippa's kin at Amber
Hills had Impressed recently and neither had any of her husband's. Of
course that wasn't her business. She was just hoping the girl didn't
make any foolish decisions so early on in her marriage. Dragonriders
weren't a scrupulous lot when it came to that. "Very well. I'll need
to take your measure, but it won't be a hard task to accomplish."
Wondering if that was all, she continued to watch the young woman,
observing quietly.

"I have a friend at the Weyr," she said. "Her name is Jeyme. Do you know her?"

"Aye I do." Qorri remembered checking on her when D'hol had been indisposed
and absentmindedly wondered if the girl had ever figured out things with the
Wingleader. "She is from the main Hold here-came to me as a candidate." Of
course Qorri knew all of her candidates. "Impressed green and ended up
pregnant."

"Yes," Arippa nodded. "We met at Emerald Falls before she went to the
Weyr and before I married Reven and came here." She nodded, "she's
been to visit a few times." Her voice trailed off. Then she took a
deep breath. "Do you want to take my measure now?"

"Please stand dear." Qorri waited till she was comfortable before
approaching. It wasn't hard work nor did it take long to get the
measures and scribble them on
the hide she kept hanging from her belt pouch for notes and things to
do. "Perhaps you and the holder can attend a Hatching."

"I certainly hope so," she said and stood.

"Very well, if that's all...I'll go meet with the tanners and see
about getting everything
started." Qorri had so much to do, but it was a good thing. It kept
her busy and her thoughts away from missing her folk.
