Description: Ameala reflects back on the day she graduated to Senior Weyrling
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 2 of Turn 7
As she sat with her hands resting on her now large belly, looking
around their weyr, her thoughts drifted back to the day she was
finally able to have a home with Fitchan once more.
~Flashback~
"Finally!" Ameala declared, hurrying over to Fitchan, her new senior
knots proudly displayed on her shoulder. "I'm no longer chained to the
weyrling barracks!" She threw her arms around her husband and kissed
him, right there in front of the others who were just beginning to
disperse.
"I've been waiting a long time to do that!" She grinned, her slightly
rounded belly pressing against his. It was oh so nice to be able to
touch him and kiss him the way they had before her Impression.
Ingoth, meanwhile, now older herself, only basked in the happiness of
her rider. There was no longer any fear that her rider's relations
would be an issue with the young green.
His arms went around her, noting that he seemed to have to reach further
than before to hold her close. "I was so worried for you," he said. Part of
it had been the knowledge that some might not come back, combined with a
fear that they might not let her try, even though the healers had said that
she would be okay with just a quick trip to prove that she and Ingoth could
do it.
She hugged him tighter. "I'm _so_ glad it's over for now. I was so
worried about the babe, but, oh, it was an exhilarating feeling when
we re-emerged on the other side. It will be so nice when you, the
babe, and I can just pop anywhere we need to go! No more waiting on
transports for us!" Her eyes were alight with joy and happiness as she
spoke.
"Maybe we can go and see your parents, once the baby is old enough?"
"That would be wonderful!" Ameala declared. She missed her family
greatly and would love to see them again. "I cannot wait for them to
meet their grandchild." Her hand instinctively slid to her now
protruding belly.
"So, shall we head to our new weyr? Ingoth wants to get settled in and
spend some time with both of us. She has been eager to get to know you
better all along." Ameala had requested a low level weyr for them due
to her pregnancy. They'd been able to find a suitable one that was
large enough to fit them all but still have Ingoth plenty of her own
space.
"Yes," Fitchan said as he released his wife from their embrace, it was hard
for him to not used the word, even though it had been explained to them many
times that riders did not and could not marry. He reached out for her hand,
"We'll have to go and see my parents too, no reason for them to miss out on
all the fun." He stopped for a moment, "Unless we could get someone to bring
them here?"
"I'm sure that could be arranged. We could have them all here. Then we
could see them sooner since I really shouldn't travel /between/ on any
dragon now as the healer's said. I'm lucky we were cleared by them to
make this jump /between/." It would be nice to see their families
again she thought as they walked.
"Who would we ask to organise that?"
"Hmm," she mused, looking thoughtful, "I'm not sure. I can ask one of
the weyrling staff and see if maybe they can help. I'll talk to them
tomorrow!" That thought gave her a burst of energy. That, along with
all the excitement of the day. She grabbed his hand and dragged him up
the flight of steps to the low level weyr,
Standing outside the door she turned to him and grinned, "Our new
home! Ingoth is already on the ledge waiting for us. Shall we?" Her
things had already been transferred and she was eager to start their
new life _together_ as a little family now. Her, Fitchan, Ingoth, and
the babe. Quite a family it would be too!
"Yes," he said, pushing the door open. Anything had to be better than the
technicians quarters he'd been bunking down in. And while this place might
come with a big green dragon, it came with Ameala, which made it worth it.
Ingoth swished her tail excitedly and moved towards them both as they
entered.
}:I've been waiting for you! It took you too long. You should have
come on my back,:{ The green declared matter of factly.
**Oh little love, you know I had to walk with my mate. He and I have
been apart for so long.** Ameala shared the thought with the bubbly
green.
Ingoth turned and gave her a slightly saucy dragon grin. }:I want a
mate of my own. Can I have an egg with my mate like you are?:{ Her
eyes whirled with amusement and happiness. Ameala was happy. Ingoth
was happy.
**No, dear. You can have a mate, but you will not carry an egg. Only
the queens carry an egg.** Then realizing she and Ingoth had been
conversing privately, Ameala turned to Fitchan with an slightly
apologetic look.
"Sorry. I forget sometimes to speak aloud when talking with Ingoth.
She is happy for us and wanted to know if she could have a mate and an
egg like us. I was trying to explain it to her," Ameala rested her
hand over her belly. Then she reached for Fitchan's hand and placed it
there as well. She'd been feeling little flutters from time to time,
but so far nothing big enough that could be felt from the outside.
"Our little egg," she stated smiling lovingly up at her husband, now
her weyrmate.
"Is he, is that a kick?" he asked as he rested his hand over the bump that
was their growing child. "I thought, I'm sure I felt something."
"Ooo, It _was_!" Ameala declared excitedly. "I didn't know if you'd be
able to feel it!"
}:Can I feel it too?:{ Ingoth asked, edging closer to them and trying
to poke her snout at Ameala's belly.
Ameala laughed and remembered to speak aloud for Fitchan's sake. "I
don't think you'll be able to feel it, Ingoth. It's still so small and
the movements are so tiny, but maybe soon?" She honestly wasn't sure
if the green _would_ be able to feel the movements, but it was
possible.
Looking back to Fitchan she smiled and rested her hand on his. "Our
babe. I cannot wait for him or her to arrive. I'm just so glad we can
share these last months or so together. I've missed being able to
share it all with you."
"I've missed you too," he said, lowering his lips to hers. "The healers,
they said this was safe for the babe, right?"
She blinked up at him and almost chuckled, "A kiss? Yes, they said it
was safe _and_ so much more." She leaned in and whispered in his ear,
a slight blush creeping up her cheeks. "Shall we take advantage of our
new home? Ingoth why don't you go take a swim and come back a little
later," Ameala suggested outloud.
The little green huffed, }:Why can't I stay and watch? I've never seen
two-legs mate.:{ Her eyes whirled with amusement and mischief.
**Go for now. You'll still feel all of it, but this is something we
need to share just us for now.** Ameala told her lifemate. Ingoth
waddled to the ledge and was off to the Weyrlake to bask in the sun.
Reaching for Fitchan's hand, she grinned, "Shall we take the healers
up on what they said was safe? I've surely missed this with you all
these months."
"Lead the way," he said returning her grin. "Lets make up for lost time."
~ End Flashback ~
She smiled as she reclined with her feet up in their weyr. Her hand
resting on her stomach she realized that it wouldn't be much longer
before their special little one arrived. Yawning, Ameala drifted off
for a short nap with a smile on her face.
