The boat had just rounded the last bend. Famell, standing near the bow
sighed with welcome relief at the sight of the Dolphin Hall. **Home,**
he thought happily. It would be nice to return home again. Hopefully
no more lengthy trips North would be needed anytime soon.

He was antsy to be back on land, but mostly just eager to be back to
the comforts of his own home and to see a certain person he'd missed
greatly during his travels.

After what seemed like forever, the boat was pulling up to the docks.
Famell could see some of the Hall had come out to greet him. Thanking
the captain, he quickly made his way off the ship to greet those
ashore.

Thayde could feel the anxious trembles practically rolling off of
Shilara from where she stood beside of him, anxiously waiting for
Famell's return. The dolphins had swam ahead earlier to inform them of
the ship's soon arrival and now Thayde and Shilara, along with
Jylanya, waited patiently on the docks.

When Shilara caught sight of Famell's familiar figure disembarking hot
tears pressed to her eyes.

"Oh fiddlesticks." She muttered, pressing her fingers into her
eyeballs to try and stem the moisture.

Thayde only smiled and put an arm around her shoulders, "It is okay."

"No it's not." She said around a sniffle and then she shook her head,
"You two go ahead... Just tell him I will be waiting for him in his
office." Shilara turned and darted back toward the Hall.

The young Master Dolphineer glanced at Jylanya, "She's not been
feeling well lately." He said, to cover Shilara's odd disappearance.

"Mmhmm," Jylanya smirked. She was the headwoman and little escaped her
notice. But until something was said it wasn't her place. Her look
told him so too. She waved to the Hallmaster and called a greeting.
"Welcome home!"

"Ah," Famell breathed a sigh of relief as he stepped foot upon the
ground. He waved and smiled at the two who stood to greet him.

"It is _such_ a wonderful feeling to know I'm standing on Dolphin Hall
ground once again. I've missed this so very much, and I told the
Hallmaster from the North that I hope we don't have to have such a
long journey again anytime soon!" He grinned, happy to be home. The
next big trip should actually be when the Northern Hallmaster came
down to tour the southern pods, but that wasn't due for some time now.

He nodded first to Jylanya, and then turned to Thayde, extending his
hand. "So, how have things been going?" He inquired, eyebrow lifted a
slight grin still evident on his face, as he also winked towards
Jylanya. He'd asked the other masters and a few other key people, like
Jylanya to report to him frequently on Thayde's progress as temporary
Hallsecond, but now he was eager to hear what the younger man had to
offer. "Oh, and did I see Shilara when the boat was docking? I thought
I did, but I don't see her here now?" He glanced around nodding to the
few others who had gathered in the background to greet him.

Thayde shook the Hallmaster's hand, "She wasn't feeling so well,
Shilara said that she would meet you in your office." He glanced
quickly at Jylanya, and then moved on from that topic, "Things have
been going smoothly in your absence. No big storms, or other upsets."
The young Hallsecond looked to Jylanya to confirm this information.

She nodded her agreement and then pointed at a pair of workers to
retrieve the Hallmaster's trunks from the ship. "We did hear of a bad
squall taking the Lord Holder of Sunstone Seahold but the Seacrafter
Hall took care of the salvage," she added.

Famell frowned at the news. "I'd heard such a rumor as we rounded the
last part of the coast for home. I'd hoped it wasn't true. I will
check in with the pod there to see if they were able to offer
assistance. I'd mentioned to Master Relik that we would provide
additional dolphins and dolphineers to assist the new Hall. Perhaps we
should see to that sooner rather than later." Famell paused and turned
toward Thayde, "Why don't you go through the list of who might be
available for such a transfer and come up with about 5 good
dolphineers we could send?" It was a good job for a Hallsecond to take
on.

With his things being taken care of he walked with the pair back
towards the Hall. "I've missed my home. I'm so glad I won't need to
leave again anytime soon and hopefully never for so long. The pods in
the North were upset by unusual shifts in the currents. They felt it
could lead to some devastating effects on the climate around all of
Pern if they continued. It wasn't something we wanted widely known, so
I'm sorry you were left in the dark." He looked to them both as he
spoke. "Thankfully, it seems it was just a fluke based on a
convergence of storms never witnessed before. The problem has passed,
but they will continue to monitor it. We, too, must watch the currents
more closely to note if anything seems amiss and alert the Northern
Hall if it should happen."

Thayde listened with interest to Famell's description of his time
spent in the North. It sounded as if it had been a long and tedious
trip and he was sure that his Hallmaster was more than ready to retire
to his quarters and enjoy some rest. With that in mind, Thayde stopped
as the trio entered the Hall, "I will get to work on that list of
dolphineers and get with you the day after tomorrow when you have had
some time to rest."

"That would be excellent. Thank you Thayde," Famell replied, pleased
with his new Master. If all went well he would make the young man's
promotion permanent very, very soon.

"I do think I could use a bit of time to myself," **and to find
Shilara,** he added silently. "It was a long trip. Thank you both for
all you've done to keep the Hall in tip top shape whilst I was gone."

Jylanya smiled and nodded. "Your quarters are all prepared for your
return sir," she said. "I'll make certain your luggage gets to your
rooms right away and will have someone unpack for you probably
tomorrow so you can rest." She dropped a short curtsey. "So if you'll
excuse me," she nodded and made her way back into the Hall
