Description: Relea needs her brother-in-law's help
Location: Green Valley Hold
Date: month 8, day 3 of Turn 7
Relea sought out her brother in law once more. She had been made
aware of the rumours by Coran originally, but considering he'd said
nothing to her since, they must have died away. So it was with little
concern that she trekked her way through the hold to pause before his
office door. A slender hand rose to rap lightly upon the wood and
since she couldn't hear, she waited a moment before she attempted to
twist the knob and open it. Her golden head peeked from around the
edge and she offered a tentative smile to Reven.
It was Reven's first day back in his office and already he had seen
more people than he would like to admit. Still, he knew he couldn't
hide forever in his wife's quarters, and he didn't yet feel
comfortable being in his own full time. And so that left him in his
office, which he had to admit, felt pretty safe... Especially with a
guard standing outside the door. He had also purposefully left his
door opened, he liked being able to see who was coming down the
hallway, and so the moment he caught a glimpse of Relea dread began to
build. Coran was still mad with him about what he had said to Relea,
even though he had apologized, and there was the fact that the last
time Reven had seen Relea she'd suddenly dropped to the floor and then
miscarried her baby.
Sometimes, Reven thought it was probably best if he and Relea just
avoided each other. There always seemed to be trouble when they were
in the same room.
"Come in." He signed.
"Hello Reven." At least he knew basic signs. Actually, more than
just the most basic, but he was slow and meticulous. She had to be
much the same or he couldn't understand you. "How are you?"
"Good," Reven answered back with the simple hand gesture, and then
asked, "how are you feeling? I would come by but Coran is still mad."
Whenever he signed he had to revert back to the simplest forms of
sentences because of his limited vocabulary when it came to Relea's
sign language.
Good? Relea didn't believe it and the frown that appeared upon her
lips said as much. She didn't want to argue this time, however, so
let it slide - for now. "I'm surviving." She would, at least, be
honest with him if he not with her. A breath was taken and Relea
took another step forward. "I need help."
"Please, sit." He signed, and then leaned back in his chair. Reven
couldn't imagine what he could help Relea with, but as her brother by
marriage he would do his best.
Relea lowered herself into the proffered chair, then signed, "I want
to tell Coran I love him." She just came out and explained, because
she really didn't know any other way to go about it. She just hoped
Reven didn't think her silly.
Reven's eyebrows furrowed. He didn't understand the problem, "So, er,
just tell him?"
"No. I want to tell him." Relea paused, then tried to explain more
clearly. "I want to say it. Speak it."
The man's eyebrows shot up, "I didn't know you could talk. Well, I
guess it makes sense that you_can_..." he realized he was rambling
and stopped. "How can I help?"
"I've never talked because I don't know what words sound like. I need
to be taught." Just three words. They were very important words, but
only three of them. Surely she could say three words. "I don't know
how to say it. Will you teach me?"
Reven knew nothing about teaching a deaf woman how to make the proper
sounds, but he supposed that he would give it his best show, "What do
you need me to do? I will try."
As if she read his thoughts, Relea admitted, "I don't know how to go
about this." She inhaled deeply and let out a slow breath. "Maybe if
I make sounds. We'll start with 'I'. And when I get to the proper
sound, you let me know?" She could tell from his expression that too
many of the signs weren't understood, se wound up writing it out on
her stylus in sets of words.
The holder nodded, "OK." He signed, a part of him very curious to see
what Relea's voice sounded like since he had never heard her use it.
"We'll start with 'I'..."
