Relea

Relea

She'd received word from Relea that everything was arranged and that
made her smile. Qorri had already gone through the supply rooms and had
made an inventory of what they had to offer. She'd had a few choice pieces
moved to the front that fit what they had discussed, hoping Relea would
choose one of them. If not, they could always refinish something. Heading
towards the young woman's quarters, she smiled. Qorri liked projects.

The door was locked when Qorri arrived, but her new kitten sat up so
suddenly, ears pricked forward and eyes fixated upon the door that it
alerted Relea to a visitor. Perhaps the creature would be good for more
than keeping tunnelsnakes at bay. Relea patted the critter behind his
ears, then rose to cross over and open the barrier between her and the
arrival - who turned out to be the Headwoman. A smile appeared and
Relea nodded before she signed 'hello'.

"Good afternoon, Relea." Qorri was for sure going to have to learn some
words in the language she used, but then she wondered-who would teach her?
"I was hoping that you were ready to go look?"

One single written word was all she needed to reply. "Certainly." Relea
had been working on a hat, but hats didn't move and she could certainly
return to it at any time. She might as well take a break and do
something outside of the room. While there had been no more incidents,
it was partially due to the fact that Relea had yet to venture out of
her quarters unless she was in someone's company, usually Coran's.
Qorri's company would be just as much protection, if not more
considering her status in the hold.

"All right then, here we go." Qorri led Relea down the hallways, taking
the time to say hello to folk as they passed. It was good for her to be seen
as
the sister-in-law to the Holder and not as just some woman. Qorri knew that
better than most. And they more they saw of her, the more they could know
that her
infirmity didn't matter much. When they reached the storage rooms, she
unlocked them and led the way inside. "I've put out a few pieces that might
fit your needs."

Relea nodded in affirmation and let her eyes shift over the pieces that
Qorri had indicated. They immediately settled on a desk that was
compact enough to fit comfortably in their corners but boasted a tall
portion of shelves that allowed for more storage space and made of a
medium-hued wood. She motioned to it, then wrote, "I like that one for
Coran."

"That's a fine choice." She made a mental note so one of her men could move
it later to Relea's quarters. "Now for a chair...must be comfortable of
course to work in. Some of these have good makings. We can upholster and put
some
cushion in ourselves as long as it's a good stout frame." Qorri liked making
use
of things again. It was much better than breaking down furniture for
kindling.

Relea nodded, but just looking at the chairs wouldn't let her know which
one to choose. Even if the upholstery had to be redone, she still
wanted to get a feel for it. The young woman lowered into the first
chair and wrinkled her nose. It was rather hard, and while one needed
to stay awake to work well, that didn't mean she wanted to Coran to be
uncomfortable. The second one had a back that was very low, not good
for leaning at all. A third was revealed to have a serious case of no
arm rests. The fourth chair, however, was in pretty good condition all
around. While the back was high enough to make it comfortable to ease
into, it wouldn't tower above the healer. The cushion offered comfort,
but not to the point where Coran might easily fall asleep unintentionally.
After a few moments of shifting and bouncing, Relea nodded, smiled, then
motioned to the chair in a silent but effective way to say 'that one'.

"Very good choice, Relea. I'm sure your husband will thank you." Qorri made
another note on her scratch hide. She surveyed the rest of what was left.
"Got
a few lamps and small tables and things I thought you might want but wasn't
sure. There's always time to pick more later if you feel you don't need
any of it."

"No tables, but that lamp is nice." The one indicated was of wrought
metal shaped into vines that wound about to decorate the molding of the
case that would host the flame. Relea picked it up and traced a finger
over one of the leaves. Even the glass was intact and not at all
cloudy. It was a lantern that would allow her to move from one room to
the other without fear of putting out the flame.

"Fits perfectly with the décor at Green Valley. All the stones and woods..."
Qorri liked the natural setting and it blended together as long as you put
some color into things.

"I agree." Relea tapped out with her chalk, then smiled before she
added. "Thank you Qorri. This was very nice of you."

"You're very welcome. And feel free to let me know if you need me.
My folk will move these into your rooms. For now, lunch?" She was
hungry herself, to be honest. All that walking.
