It came in with Traders most likely and started with the children. They always start that way. It was Alrog's mother who first informed him that some of the hold's children
had firehead.

"Can we isolate them?" Fieayz asked. "I'm going to send a message with Arva
to the Healer Hall, maybe they can get someone up here, or tell us what to do."

Alrog nodded. "We moving them all to the common rooms in second floor," he
told her.

"Good," she said. "I'll ask the staff to keep as many people away from there
as possible," she said, even as she got to her feet and began to hunt for a
hide and some ink to go with the pen she had just picked up. "Are we
definitely sure it is Firehead?"

"So they told me, I honestly can't tell chicken pox from measles," Alrog
replied.

"The risk is, those children have probably already infected their parents,"
he sighed. A dangerous infectious decease was last thing his hold needed.

"And probably anyone else they came into contact with," Fieayz's expression
was grim. "Your mother too, possibly."

"I know," Alrog looked worried and rubbed his face. "Harper classes, play
rooms...shards, pretty much everyone in the hold can have it." It was scary
situation. This must be how his grandparents felt when the Plague hit Garnet
Valley and Iron Lake. "Plague killed half of this hold's population and we
are still not back in full number."

"How are we off for Redwort?" They could make people wash their hands coming
in and out of rooms like healers did, it might help slow it long enough to
get a healer to them.

"I don't think we have that much of it," Alrog replied. Getting up from his
desk he started to pace around his office. "And getting supplies may be
tricky. One good snow storm will block the passage to Garnet Valley and then
we are isolated," he continued fretting.

"Maybe I should send Arva to the Weyr as well when she gets back from the
Healer Hall. If we need things to come a dragonback, they'll need to know
sooner rather than later."

Alrog nodded. "Aye. We can't risk infecting dragonriders but they can do
aerial drops for us."

"Do you think it could get that serious?" she asked, studying her husband's
face for a moment.

"I hope not but I fear for the worst," he stopped to take her head between
his hands and kiss her. "I can't have a better woman at by my side in a
crisis like this."

"I love you," she said. "We'll get through this."

"I love you too," Alrog said tenderly and then get back to business. "Could
you take a stock of your medical supplies? What we have and how much?" he
asked.

She nodded. "The healers will want to know what we have, so they can send us
what we need."

"Yes. I'll send Lapis with message for Lord Warden in Garnet Valley hold. We
need to keep him informed too."

"We haven't got much time, have we," Fieayz said as she got to her feet.
"The sooner we get people notified, the sooner we can try to get this under
control."
