Loella

~*~
It had been more than three months since Lady Benani had been found
and returned to her family. Since she had lost their son and Karhal
had lived in rage at the man who'd perpetrated it all. It had been a
dark time of healing followed by another attack and then finally the
hunting parties had located what remained of the Harper and brought it
back.

But that was really the beginning of their healing.

~~~~Flashback~~~~
After disposing of the rotting remains, Karhal waved off his
accompanying guards, and strode purposefully to his home. Daihmin
would take the next shift, and he wanted nothing more than to get the
stench of burning corpse off of him. He opened the door to his home,
stepped in quietly and closed it behind him. The click of claws
sounded and Karhal looked down with affection as Livie slowly ambled
forward, still bandaged, but healing. She greeted him with a wagging
tail and he dutifully ruffled his fingers through his hair.
"You're back," Loella smiled and started toward her husband and then
the reek hit her like a wall. "Outside," she pointed at the door. "You
smell like something dead."
"Considering that I just watched Crolarin's rotten corpse burn, I
think I can stand the smell." Karhal arched his brow and his lips
barely turned upwards in a thin, but triumphant smile.
"Good for you," she nodded to him in acknowledgement of his victory.
"I'm sure I'm glad he's no longer a threat but I don't want to smell
him in my house for days. Go shuck those clothes and leave them
outside." She turned to to their bathing room to start a bath. "You
have clean clothes in the bedroom after your bath."
"I would have thought you'd be ecstatic that he was dead." Karhal
groused as began to strip off his clothes. "I didn't even get a
welcoming kiss. Just 'outside'." He huffed and in short order was
bare. He gathered up the clothing, cracked open the door and tossed
them just outside.
"Much better," her eyes raked him with an admiring smile as he stood
there in his all together. "Bath," she pointed. "I'll have the dinner
ready in a few minutes and then you can have all the kisses you want."
A glint appeared in Karhal's eye as he arched a brow. "I think I'll
have my kiss now." He stalked towards her, holding out his arms and
giving her a wide, mischievous smile.
Loella giggled and tried to dodge out of his reach around the other
side of the table but she knew it was, at best, a delaying tactic.
Rikka of course thought they were playing and began her own little
bounce around the room. "You are a bad man," Loella squealed as he
caught her. Then she offered up her face for a kiss.
He chuckled deeply in amusement as he tugged her against him and
thoroughly rubbed his chest against her shoulders and back. Only then
did he bend to kiss his willing wife. Livie watched with a wagging
tail, still too bandaged to do more than watch her pup cavort around
the pair.
Karhal leaned back and sniffed slowly. "Oh dear. It looks as though
you'll need a bath." He gave a false resigned sigh. "It looks as
though we'll have to share the bath."
"Ach," she said with a grin. "You're right. Especially after you
rubbed all over me." She began to strip herself and soon her clothes
were outside on the stoop with his. She pulled the pan from the stove
and set it off the heat. "Dinner will be late."
"It'll keep." He wrapped an arm around her waist and hurried into the
bathing room. He looked at the tub, then at her. His smile slowly
widened as he felt the water and then turned the spigot off. "Not much
room, but no matter. You can sit in my lap." He climbed in, splashing
just a bit of water and reclined before crooking a finger towards her.
She smiled and settled a toe into the tub before easing into the water
slowly so as not to slosh it out over the floorboards. "It will be
very hard for me to wash you from this position," she said over her
shoulder.
"But very easy for me to wash you." He pulled her back against him and
nuzzled his face in her hair. "Besides, now that we have the Crolarin
business settled, I thought we might get to continue ours." He slipped
his hand under the water to rest on her abdomen. "I did promise."
Her eyes closed and her lips curved even more. "You did," she agreed.
She relaxed happy for the playfulness that had replaced the mounting
anger he'd been carrying around the last several sevendays.
He picked up the small tub of sweet sand and took a handful, dipping
it into the water to cause it to bubble slightly. He began to rub the
sand into her shoulder and down her back, his fingers lightly
massaging. The touch was slow and sensual as he slid over her ribs and
across her abdomen. His voice was a heated whisper in her ear. "I want
to see you swollen with my child, wife. " He reached up to lightly cup
her breasts, kneading the sand in to them with light strokes of his
fingers. "I want these full and tender, and even more beautiful."
And she wanted that too, more than she could say. "Mmmm," was all that
came out. He was such an expert at pushing her buttons and it had been
a long time since he'd been so playful. She arched her body in
reaction to his hands but hers wanted to be busy too so she squirmed
around so she was facing him in the tub. "It's all yours," she smiled
and leaned in for a kiss.
His sudsy hands wound into her hair and brought her flush against him.
If he had his way, they'd be doing this every night. He didn't think
his wife would object. He kissed her eagerly, shifting beneath her.
"So take what you want, woman."
She responded to his kisses as she always did and her arms slipped
around his neck for a moment until she leaned away and took some of
the sweetsand to begin lathering his chest between kisses. But then
her hands dipped low and lower until she found what she sought and
smiled into his eyes.
"Oh, you _do_ want this," she said flaring her eyes and leaning in for
another kiss while her other hand stayed where it was...
~~~fade to black~~~

He kept her cradled against him as he tried to catch his breath.
"Shards..." He exhaled as he stroked her back, his hands gentle and
loving. "I can't seem to get enough of you."

"And that, husband, is fine with me. For I cannot get enough of you
either," she said softly. She was exhausted and shivered in the now
tepid bathwater.

He grunted, tired from the exertion, but like his wife, beginning to
feel the chill. He patted her hip, lifting her and then pulled the
drain to the large tub. He rose, easily scooping her up and stepped
out of the tub. The floor was a horrible mess, but he had no will to
clean it. Instead, he bent with her in his arms and swiped two towels.
"Time for the fireplace." He nestled Loella close to his chest and
carried her into the living area where the fire still crackled. He set
her down and gently wrapped the towel around her.

She thanked her stars that he was so big and carried her so easily.
She barely had a moments thought for the mess on the floor. She was
pleasantly sated and happy in his arms even though the shivvers were
trying to distract her. The towel and fire began to warm her and she
smiled up at him. "Thank you," she said softly leaning toward him.

He sat on a chair in front of the fire, his own towel wrapped around
his hips. Kissing her brow, he took her towel and began gently rubbing
her down to both dry her and warm her up. "Come sit with me."

She pushed off the floor and curled into his lap, laying her head
against his shoulder. "I've missed this so much."

He shifted her comfortably into his lap, one hand stroking through her
damp hair. "You don't have to miss it any more. I'm not going anywhere
else."

~~End of Flashback~~

"Good evening husband," she said as he came through the door at the
end of his day. "Just a few more minutes and your dinner will be
ready." The table was set as usual but there were a pair of candles
and a bottle of wine on the table. They were a bit unusual.

He glanced at the table and shrugged off his jacket. "Loella. " Karhal
bent to brush his lips over hers slowly. "It looks nice. What's the
occasion?"

She put her arms around him and smiled up into his handsome face.
"We're pregnant."
