The Vintner Hall has a new addition in the tavern maid Shyow. She makes quite an impression on R'mer! The bronzerider is visiting the tavern when he notices her slip a few of a drunk man's marks into her pocket. He confronts her, demanding that she return the marks to the man. She then explains that she needs the mark to aid her unfortunate family, who has been suffering terribly as of late. Feeling a kinship with the young woman, the bronzerider not only lets her go, but also contributes marks to her cause, with the understanding that she would return the marks.

The Lord Holder also has a slight run-in with Shyow. When Zathris returns to his old favorite watering hole, he meets her as she serves him ale and stew. Though she doesn't recognize him as being Lord Holder, she can tell he is a man of means, and picks his pocket as well. Only as he leaves does she understand that she has robbed the most powerful man in the area. How long can she keep this up before she is caught and truly gets into trouble?
