Im're entered the infirmary, cradling his other hand with the other. Of course he had to go and hurt the already scarred hand. He looked around to find a free healer.

"Hello!"

Lokkun had only just sat down for a short break near the entrance when he heard a male voice call out. He waited a moment to see if anyone else was available to help, but it appeared he was the only one close enough. Stifling a pained groan, Lokkun got up and walked out, and immediately forgot his aching legs on seeing such a good-looking dragonrider. His cheeks heated up, and he had to compose himself and work up his nerve before he got close enough to address the new patient. "Good day, sir. How can I help you?"

"Can someone take a look of my fingers?" Im're asked. "I managed to get them squeezed between hide strap and dragon's hide," he said sheepishly.

"Oh, that has to be inconvenient," Lokkun said sympathetically, taking the injured hand in both of his and looking it over carefully. "It looks as though there's some swelling, but I don't see any blood blisters. How do the bones feel? Do you have any range of motion?"

"It's painful, that's what it is," Im're grumbled. "Seems to have normal range," he continued after carefully curling his fingers to fist. Of course it was his thread-scarred hand, so the moment of the fingers was already limited by the scar tissue.

Lokkun nodded approval. "Let me do a little prodding, please," he requested, "just to double-check the bones, but I do think you're all right. Some numbweed will set everything to rights, but you'll need to give your hand a rest if at all possible."

"Right," Im're nodded and offered his hand to be probed.

Lokkun prodded as gently as possible, but there was no truly nice way to do that. "Sorry for any discomfort," he said, finishing up. "You're in luck; there are indeed no breaks. I'll go get that numbweed, and once it's run its course, I recommend soaking the fingers in cool water to help bring the swelling down."

"Thanks...what's your name, by the way?" Im're replied. He was pretty sure he had seen the healer around the Weyr but never talked to him before.

Lokkun paused, surprised and oddly flattered by the question. That was stupid, though. The rider wasn't being anything other than polite. "Lokkun, sir," he said. "Might I ask yours?" Now why had he said that when he should be fetching medicine? Any excuse to stick around an attractive rider, was that it?

"I'm Im're and Gormth is my blue," Im're said. He felt no need to withdrew his hand from Lokkun's hold. The healer was kind of cute.

"I'm pleased to meet you, sir, though I'm sorry you had to hurt yourself to it to happen." Oh, that was just lame. Lokkun's cheeks flamed red, and he let go of Im're's hand. "I, uh- I'll just, um, get that medicine now," he mumbled.

"Okay," Im're said with amused tone. His blushing was very cute.

Thoroughly embarrassed with himself, Lokkun hurried off, found a good-sized jar, and brought it back. "Here you are, sir," he said, looking at the floor as he held out the medication. "If by chance it doesn't help, come back and I'll refer you to a journeyman or master immediately."

"Thank's. You don't have to call me sir, you know. Makes me think I'm riding bronze or something, instead of blue."

Lokkun hesitantly peeked up through his bangs. "Um, okay, if you're sure," he ventured, and felt the sudden desire to ask Im're to join him for breakfast tomorrow. But that was too forward, wasn't it?

"Yes, I'm sure," Im're flashed him a smile.

That smile was something else. Well, what the fardling shards. Lokkun took the plunge. "Would you like to join me for breakfast tomorrow?" he asked in a rush, cheeks turning even redder.

"I will, happily," Im're's voice took a husky tone and his sparked with interest.

That tone made Lokkun's socks roll right up and down, mirroring the thrill that shot through his spine at the bluerider's acceptance of his invitation. He wanted to do a happy dance. "Would- Would nine be okay?" he asked hopefully.

"Can it be bit more earlier? I have drills in the morning. Half past eight?" Im're suggested.

Oh, whoops. He had forgotten how early the majority of dragonriders had to get up. "That's perfectly fine," Lokkun assured him, starting to feel the buzz of anticipation and excitement. "I'll meet you at the dining hall entrance, if that's all right."

"Oh, yes, sure, I'll see you then," Im're said, feeling excited too.
