Characters: Aishara, E'rae
Description: The two of them meet in the stables.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 11, day 12 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Aivorn
}: Why do you insist riding with food when you can fly with me?:{ Ayumith
asked with pouty voice. For some reason she didn't like it when her rider
went to ride with runner beasts.
** Because it's fun. Different kind of fun than flying with you,** Aishara
replied and grinned. She placed the saddle and tacks back to their places
and took brush and blanket. Taking care of your runner after the ride was,
to her, part of the fun. She dried her mount with the blanket and then let
it rest on its back, starting to brush it. **Are you jealous?** Aishara
teased her dragon.
}: I'm not jealous over food,:{ Ayumith said indignantly and turned her back
to them ostentatiously. }: Hi Leith,:{ her voice took a flirty tone.
}:Good day lady fair. What are you doing here?:{ He was dropping off his
rider who had decided to go shoot things with an arrow from the back of the
runnerbeast. He hadn't figured out just why yet, but he didn't bother to
argue. E'rae himself dismounted and headed inside the stables, only to bump
into the greenrider.
}: I watch my rider play with the food, :{ Ayumith replied to Leith. She had
never actually eaten a runnerbeast though. Just herdbeast, fish and
wherries.
}:That can't be very much fun. Why don't you sun with me instead? I have a
spot on the Rim all picked out:{ Leith was cajoling and the blue was in a
good mood because his rider's mood had been slowly improving. E'rae was
slowly letting go of some parts of his recent past, though it would never
really be truly gone.
}: That sounds so much better thing to do,:{ Ayumith crooned an agreement.
}: I'm going to go sun with Leith,:{ she informed her rider before taking to
the air and joining the blue's company.
That made Aishara chuckle out loud.
Of course the bluerider heard the laugh, but didn't know what it was for.
"You sound like you're in a good mood." He moved to see which runners were
available for a ride, searching the names of the list. **Which would have
the temperament I need?**'
"Well, yes, I am. You know, dragons. They say and do such amusing things,"
Aishara replied.
"Of course. What brings you here?" He hadn't met many women that rode, to be
fair. Then again, most riders had a dragon to mount so the runners were far
less used. Most of them were put into service by the crafters and most of
them were men.
"Love for these four legged, furry creatures," Aishara said and patted the
runner she was tending. "What about you?"
"To keep in practice. Sometimes I prefer not to hunt from Leith's back, but
from one of these. Better if I need to keep to the ground instead of the
air." Of course not all riders hunted like he did, so he didn't expect her
to understand right away.
"Oh, you hunt? I presume it's different done with a dragon," Aishara said.
She had nothing against hunting as long as you ate what you killed. Or you
were hunting predators that were danger to herds or people. Her own father
hunted now and then.
"Very different from running myself through the trees, aye. Cover a lot more
ground quicker and you can see a lot better. Plus Leith's faster than I am
and can get to places I can't." Plus with the blue, he could use a net which
was quite useful.
"When my father hunts, he usually hunts wild felines and canines that prey
on herdbeast. You can't really hunt those from the dragon, since they tend
to hide in under foliage," Aishara said.
"Unless it's a clearing. Of course most ground beasts are easier from
runnerback or on foot aye. Always better to have a dragon nearby though.
Leith can pull me out if things go south. Felines especially will actually
hunt you." E'rae hadn't believed it until he'd seen it happen with his own
two eyes.
"Yes, there's always that danger," Aishara said and flashed him a smile.
It was refreshing to talk to a female that knew what he was talking about.
"So your father hunts a lot then? Where is he?" He wondered if maybe he knew
the man. He didn't know her-or at least he was pretty sure that he didn't.
"He lives in Emerald Falls Hold, he's the master beastcrafter there. There's
lot of wilderness surrounding the hold and the predators don't always stay
there," Aishara answered. "If you're looking for good hunting grounds, you
might want to visit there. Dad can tell you where the best game is."
"What's his name?" **I'll have to remember that.** E'rae hadn't gone into
Emerald Falls territory yet. He didn't know the land around Dolphin Cove
like he had around his home Hold and River Bluff. Perhaps this was a good
opportunity to learn.
"Aivorn. Don't let his grumpiness to bother you," Aishara answered.
"Noted." He looked up at the light and judged that he'd better get going
soon. "Well, greenrider, unless you want to go with me, you'd better get
going or it'll be dark before you get back." He pulled his things across his
shoulder and made his way to the runner coming toward him with a groom. "See
you around though?"
Aishara shook her head. "I've nearly done here and then I head for meal. See
you around!"
