She'd snapped at Z'ku this morning when she'd left for drills. She was
irritated with everything and everyone around her for some reason. Not
only that but when they were done Liddith had just flipped her tail
against the nearest blue startling his rider into yelling at her.

Pierka had snapped back and stomped off to sulk in her own weyr. She
didn't even bother to try and figure out why she was feeling this way
and threw clothing at the hamper cleaning and muttering at the same
time.

A scream from her lifemate and a surge of emotions nearly tripped her
and she ran toward the ledge only to see a glowing Liddith dropping
into the middle of the feeding pens. She slapped her forehead. "Of
course," she said as she turned and ran out the door and toward the
flight rooms.

}: Liddith's Rising,:{ Ked informed his rider, voice filled with excitement.

** Go for it! ** N'mor urged. He rather liked Pierka, although they
weren't close friends. He was suddenly happy he just had time for a
bath after the drills. At least he would be clean if they happened to
win. He had just time to drop off his bathing gear to their weyr,
before climbing up to Kedvencth's back and flying to the feeding pens.

Sh'dori had just gotten a food plate and drink when Rahmuth declared
his intention to chase. **Aww, couldn't I eat first?** the brownrider
complained.

}: No, there's no time, she's mine! :{ Rahmuth replied.

Sh'dori sighed. ** You do like them young.** He gave the plate back to
drudge with apologetic smile, gulped down the juice and then hurried
out.

S'avn enjoyed mating flights, whether the rider was male or female,
but he was always more relieved when it was a woman. A woman he knew
what to do with, but a man was still foreign territory for the young
bluerider. He was also glad to get an excuse out of his current duties.

Mayfeth unfurled his dark, midnight blue wings with a wingspan long
enough to match the smallest brown dragon in the Weyr. A deep throaty
warble was all the blue gave to declare his acceptance of Liddith's
challenge.

}:Liddith rises. I will catch her:{ Quarterioth informed his rider as
if this were a forgone conclusion. Grinning at his brown's confident
tone, R'taran turned on his heal and changed direction, heading for
the flight rooms. It had been some time since Quarterioth had chased
and R'taran found his pulse quickening as he allowed his lifemate's
enthusiasm to take hold.

Once more ignoring his rider's ideas in the matter, Leith leaped to the fore
and put himself into consideration. The River Bluff hatched blue had already
made it clear he needed to build up his reputation in this new Weyr and how
else was he supposed to do that without chasing?

Taken aback for the moment, E'rae knew it was fruitless to argue and walked
down to the mating cots. He wondered how many others had went down that
same path only to wonder if this was going to end well. Hopefully, it would work
out perhaps. Seeing the young greenrider, he had a momentary qualm and decided
standing there and waiting was the best decision.

A rush of lust made N'vanik pause in the middle of hidework. }:Liddith
rises!:{ The Weyrleader got up with a little smile and hurried toward
the Bowl.

When Z'ku saw the other riders gathering around Pierka, a stab of
jealousy went through him. For all that he'd tried to embrace the ways
of the Weyr, he couldn't help the twisting, dark feeling at the idea
of another man touching her.

}:Mine!:} Xemroth roared from the heights.

Yumath bugled his own intent, sweeping his wings wide and crouching in
preparation for the chase. He ignored the other males, deeming them
less important than the glowing green. She was young and lovely and he
was in his prime.

D'hol appeared in the fight rooms moments later, his eyes finding
Pierka with a slight arch of a brow. He didn't know the girl well, but
Yumath would chase none the less.

Pierka caught Z'ku's eyes with a smile of hope before her eyes snapped
opened almost rolling back in her head and her green lifemate launched
with a scream of defiance. }:Who is fleet,:{ she screamed. }:Catch me
if you can.:{

}: I am strong and can carry you for a long time, :{ Ked replied to
her challenge with a boast of his own. He was quick to get in the air
after her.

Rahmuth discared the herdbeast he had been blooding for energy and
launched to the air too. He roared.

Mayfeth met the green's challenge with a shrill trumpeting. He was
fleet, and as a blue, quie agile in the air. The young blue was more
than ready for this wily green.

Adding his bugle to that of the other males Qharterioth took to the
air, his massive wings would give him stamina but he tried to gain
some altitude first thing so that he might then descend upon the
dazzling petite green with more speed.

Xemroth shot ofter the green, his rider's emotions intensified his own
and he growled at the other males. }:She is mine!:{ Z'ku shouldered a
rider aside when he got too close, his gaze fixed on Pierka as his
mind merged with his dragon's.

Having caught this green before, Loseth was confident he could do it
again. }:Choose me, Liddith. I'll make you feel good again.:{

These Dolphin Cove males didn't scare Leith in the slightest. After all,
he was the best blue ever shelled if he did say so himself. The bronzes
were way too slow. He had no problems passing them. This blue here was
obviously more green, being young and untested. Seeing the browns laboring
so, he quickly used his wings to carry him farther and closer to his target.
A fine green indeed. Imagining twining with the likes of her, he gave an excited
bugle and pressed on.

}: Choose me, I am strong! :{ Ked boasted, flying strong and steady.
The young bronze couldn't follow all her acrobatic loops, but he could
go on for a long after she tired herself out.

Rahmuth didn't bother with boast. The experienced brown was studying
her flight patterns, in trying to find the best position to take her
by surprise.

Mayfeth happily soared through the skies behind Liddith, effortlessly
weaving in and out of the larger, bulkier males who had stamina but
not agility. There was always something so exhilerating about chasing
a beautiful green through the clouds that buoyed Mayfeth's mood, even
if he didn't win. }:Oh sweet, Liddith, let's enjoy the skies
together!:{ He called to her happily, his wings beating the skies in a
lively staccato.

Attaining the altitude that he'd hoped for, Qharterioth descended with
some speed toward the glowing Liddeth, watching for an opportunity to
catch the beautiful green unawares.

Liddith was almost done and looked behind her. She didn't see the
descending blue but did see Mayfeth gaining on her. It was too late to
do more than try and dodge, but that put her directly in position for
Qharterioth and her wings were entangled with his.

Xemroth's growl of frustration was echoed by his rider, who staggered
away from the cluster of riders. Disappointment and jealousy burned in
his stomach and Z'ku pushed away the first two women that reached for
him. But when a third approached him, he told himself that this was
the way of the Weyr and he needed to accept it. Between rough kisses,
the woman led him away.
