"Whew finally," Cyradis said and leaned her back against the door as
the last of the wingleaders and their seconds left their weyr. "I
didn't think they'd ever leave," she added and pushed off to start
grabbing the remains of the meal and glasses from the table to move to
the sideboard where the drudges could easily remove them all later.

"Well they have now," K'deren said as he grabbed a tray to stack plates on.

"Serves me right for serving good booze, right," she twinkled at him.

"Oh yes, and I hope you saved a drop or two for the poor beast of burden
here doing the clearing up." K'deren grinned as he began stacking plates.

She twinkled at him a moment. "Only the best for you brownrider," she
said. "And what is that I hear," she added cupping
her ear. "Silence? Are there no children in our Weyr tonight?"

"Their foster mother and friends parents will want a drink or two after
coping with all of them."

"Do you mean," she moved closer and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"That I have you all to myself tonight?"

"Oh yes," he replied. "Or should it be that I have you to myself tonight.
because if that is the case, I feel a need for a long, sensuous time in our
bathing pool."

"Oh yes," she sighed. K'deren had the best hands she could ever
remember and the thought of some extended and, more importantly,
_uninterrupted_ time felt wonderful. "I'll have to grab a bottle of an
especially fine vintage so we can celebrate."

"Now that sounds like a plan," a slow smile crossed his face. "I wonder how
fast we can clear this up and get to the fun part."

"Pretty fardling fast," she turned and began the rest of the clearing
knowing he'd pitch in as he always did. He was no lazy partner. In
fact he worked harder at keeping things going than anyone she'd ever
known. He was a great father to all of their brood and not only that
but a wonderful lover. Her eyes twinkled as she anticipated the way
this evening was going. Then another thought occurred to her. "Did I
tell you that our problem bronzerider tried to flirt with me in my
office the other day?"

"No," an eyebrow raised in question. "Was he very blatant about his
intentions?"

She chuckled knowing how hard the young man had taken her shutdown.
"Yes, rather but I saw it coming a mile off," she shook her head.
"He's got a lot to learn about women."

"We all did at some point, and I don't blame him for trying. When an
attractive goldrider walks into your view..." The tray piled with dishes was
put down as he turned to face his weyrmate and open his arms to her. "It can
be hard to resist."

"See?," she slid into his arms with a sigh. "You always know the right
thing to say." she hugged his waist.

"I try," he said as he dropped a gentle kiss on her forehead, before leaning
down to find her lips.

She deepened the kiss, happy for the few moments they had alone.
K'deren always made them count. They were both busy with their jobs
and busy with the children but it was these precious moments that
always reminded her of how much she needed this solid brownrider. As
she'd told J'ackt. He was a man and a wonderful one.

"I think these plates can wait til later," she whispered when they
finally broke the kiss. She slid her hand into one of his and backed
toward the bathing room.

"Oh yes," was all he could say as he followed.
