"Hey there, Wingsecond," Gaiya said with a salute. "Mind if I sit with
you a while?"

"Not at all, plenty of room" J'ren smiled, he recognized her as one of
the foster mothers.

"You really don't remember me, do you," the fostermother said with a
knowing smile. "Gaiya... We were in harper classes at the same time.
Of course, I was a but younger than you."

"Gaiya?" He paused for a moment "Gaiya! I rember, you where always
getting in trouble for things that wern't quite your fault. I'm sorry
I've been so busy with the wing and everything..."

"No, I wouldn't expect you to remember. I was just a bratty little
kid," she nodded. "And I have to admit, a _few_ of those things were
probably my fault."

"Who didn't get into trouble? Isn't it part of being a weyrbrat?"

"I suppose so. In fact I _know_ so," she said with an exasperated, yet
fond sigh. "I'm a foster mother now. I have seen my share of trouble
makers."

"Pay back. You get what you gave to others you know."

"I suppose so." She wondered how to segment into the _real_ reason why
she was there... "Your fostermother was Aminna, wasn't she?"

"Yes, wonderful woman. You could learn a few things from her. I not
saying that you wouldn't be a good foster mother but she's done it for a
long time."

"Yes she has... And yet I could..." Shards... How could she just bring
it up? "So... Have you seen Aminna lately?"

"A few days ago, she told me that one of my old foster brother's just
had a son. I went to see them and the kid is kinda cute."

"Wonderful," Gaiya grinned. "You like kids, I take it?"

J'ren shurgged, "They're all right. I don't see myself as the most
involved of fathers anytime soon, but you never know."

Shards, she was going to have to be more direct. "I seem to remember
you had a sister..."

J'ren's face became a mask. "Yes."

"In fact, Aminna and I talked about her the other day..." She was
trying to give him the opportunity to jump in so she didn't have to be
blantently forward. **How do I get myself in these messes!?**

"what about her? You didn't even know her, no one did, except me."

"Uh..." Gaiya was taken aback by his sudden vehemence. "She just told
me your sister was sick and that you took it pretty hard."

"She was all I had, until my bronze came along. Our mother was dead, our
father had transfered. He's dead now too."

"I'm sorry to hear that, J'ren," Gaiya said quietly, lowering her eyes.
She knew what it was like losing someone who was the whole world to her.
But then there was Hezri...

The bronzerider shifted moods agian, shrugging. "I hadn't seen him for
turns anyway."

"No, I mean... for everything..."

"Why? I can't go back in time, ot change anything."

"Aminna seems to be really worried about," Gaiya said, gently laying a
hand on J'ren's arm.

"Aminna worries about everything. Isn't thathwat foster mother's are
supossed to do?"

"I suppose so. I know I worry," Gaiya nodded. "She thinks you have
been thinking of your sister lately."

"I have. Why wouldn't I? SHe's my sister and I miss her."

"I know. I miss my mother still, after all. Anyway, I just wanted to
say that if you ever wanted to talk about it that I would be happy to
lend an ear."

"Thanks."
