Characters: Y'sani, L'pin, Xuxha
Description: Y'sani, L'pin and Xuxha discuss the Senior Weyrling's Blooding, deciding it will take place on m11d4.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 26 of Turn 3

Y'sani had always enjoyed mornings, but he was well aware that not everyone shared his affection for greeting the dawn. For that reason he made sure there was plenty of hot klah and food in his office when his new staff arrived.

He had every intention of making the meetings a regular event, if only to avoid the danger of not including Xuxha as much as he should. He and L'pin had known each other for nearly thirty turns, and it was habit to fall back on L'pin as his wingthird. But Xuxha was the only consistant teacher the weyrlings had, and L'pin had his own duties now.

Just a few moments later, there was a knock on the door. After gaining permission, Xuxha stepped inside. "Good morning Y'sani." She grinned and motioned to the klah. "I see you're all prepared."

**Shards!** L'pin swore mentally, a bit of mental distress thrown at Chaneth. **I was supposed to be up by now, you lump!** only to be rewarded by a smug sense from a dragon that _had_ tried to wake him. He was rather upset by oversleeping, so much that he wasn't paying attention when he dressed and managed to put his shirt on backwards. Not that he _noticed_
this. He pelted as fast as he could to Y'sani's office and arrived only a scant few seconds after Xuxha, darting into the office behind her. **I'm not late I'm not late please _Faranth_ don't let me be late...** he thought, rushed.

"Gooood morning Y'sani." he said as he entered, nodding to his long-time friend. Then he turned and nodded to Xuxha. "Pleasure to meet you, greenrider." he said, sketching a quick half-bow in his direction, which he often did when meeting new people to be polite. It might have looked better if he was properly dressed- considering his shirt was on backwards, and patched anyway, it just looked a tad bit quirky.

Y'sani quirked an eyebrow, shaking his head. "You still can't get up on time, can you. I'm sure Xuxha would be far more impressed with you if you'd managed to learn how to dress yourself by now."

Xuxha bit her cheek to hide a smile. "Perhaps some klah might help." She took the pitcher of klah and poured three cups, handing two of them to the men.

"Thank you." L'pin said gratefully, accepting the cup and taking a sip.
"You're Xuxha? I'm L'pin, of blue Chaneth."

Xuxha took a sip of her klah before training a smile upon the bluerider.
"Hail and well met, L'pin. Welcome to the insanity that is being a weyrlingmaster."

"Now that we're all friends..." Y'asni gestured to the chairs he'd pulled up in front of his desk. "The oldest weyrlings are ready for blooding now.
Xuxha's been working with them the longest, so I'd like her to start with any concerns she might have. We've already delayed their blooding to give us a chance to make sure they're ready, so I don't want to rush it now."

Xuxha took a sip of her klah before making her answer. "I'm a little concerned about Renina. Her attitude is rather lacking and disrespectful at times."

"Do you think she's been listening to us about how serious a business blooding is?" Y'sani asked. An attitude that made a weyrling disregard warnings could end up with them dead.

"To be honest, I'm not sure. She seems to listen half the time and half the time she doesn't." Xuxha set aside her mug for a moment. "I think, perhaps, it might be a good idea to have a talk with her."

"Talk in the sense of telling her to shape up or else consequences are going to result?" L'pin asked.

"Who does it depends on what sort of talk she needs," Y'sani said after a moment. "Frightening sense into them has usually been left to me. I've always had a problem with getting the younger girls to confide any sort of personal fears in me."

"Whereas I can do that." L'pin said with a laugh. "I wonder why she's so disrespectful. Actually, she hasn't really been to me, not always. Has her green risen yet? Could it be proddiness?"

"No, she hasn't risent yet." Xuxha shook her head. "But I don't think that's it. I think part of it is, I'm not the head weyrlingmaster. I also think part of it is, you're a man, I'm not, and you're a rather good looking one at that. Of course, I'm not sure how well she listens to you either. She often has a day dreaming look about her."

Y'sani rolled his eyes. "Well, I can give her a talking to that will make sure she doesn't dream about me ever again. If that's the only problem, I think we can get on with things. This class has waited long enough to be blooded, and the new weyrlings have been around for nearly a month now. I suggest we tell them tomorrow that we're sending them against Thread on the fourth."

Xuxha nodded slowly. It was always nervwracking to her when the weyrlings first went against thread and she knew that injuries, sometimes even death, were unavoidable. "Yes sir."

L'pin closed his eyes. He hadn't known the weyrlings as long as Xuxha- or even Y'sani- but he still felt awful about this. He always felt awful when a weyrling's first Blooding came up. "And we'll make sure that they know we're available to talk to beforehand, right?" He looked at the others for confirmation.

"Of course," Y'sani replied easily. "If we tell them today, we'll have enough time for them to voice any concerns, but not enough time for them to get themselves too worked up with nerves. We'll give them a candlemark or so to ask questions about it today, and then we'll work rope drills."

Xuxha nodded slowly. "Hopefully nerves won't be too high."

"We'll work them hard enough today that they'll be too tired to be nervous tonight," Y'sani replied with a faint smile. "Well, if we're all in agreement, why don't we enjoy our klah and breakfast before dealing with the day ahead."

"Sounds good to me!" Xuxha agreed heartily and poured herself another cup of klah.
