Tears filled her eyes as she looked out over the Weyrbowl. The return
flight from Dragonsfall had been far less positive then the flight
out. She and N'vanik had barely spoken. They'd attended the hatching
feast but she for one had just gone through the motions. Both of them
seemed stunned
from the events of the day.

Cyradis blew out a soft breath and hugged herself as she stood there
near her beautiful lifemate.

}:It is a hard thing to lose a little one,:{

"It was awful hearing her cry in despair," she said and dashed away
another tear. "Poor Saibra and Chioneth, they were so hurt and even
angry. I wish I could have said something to ease their pain."

}:You tried:{

**Yes, I tried, but I don't think it was enough. I don't think there
are enough words**

She heard a footfall behind her and turned to see her Weyrmate in the door.

"Are you ok?" he asked softly as he came closer. Today's events had to have
been hard for her, he knew that.

"I will be," she said with a sign. "It happened to us before," she
stroked Panitath's hide. Then she sniffed and wiped her eyes before
walking into his arms.

He held her close, sensing she needed that more than anything right now.
"I'm here, for you and Panitath, as long as you need me to be."

"Thank you," she said although her voice was muffled in his tunic.
"I've lost one before and this just brought it all back fresh. More
for me than for Panitath."

"Want to tell me about it? Only if you want to though"

She nodded. "I guess I must have suppressed the memories," she said. "But it
all
came flooding back today when...," she pressed her lips together for a
moment. "Well, when it happened, R'nar was little and Kielya hadn't
even been thought of yet. Yumath sired the clutch." She shook her
head. "I didn't handle it well back then. Compared to me, Saibra was a
rock today. She even danced at the Feast."

"What happened on the day?" asked K'deren gently. "Did D'hol have to do what
my brother did?"

"He did," she nodded. "I still can't unsee what happened today. I knew
D'hol would understand so I went to see him."

"I get that," K'deren said after a moment. He knew his weyrmate well enough
to know that she would have wanted to check on him after the news spread. It
had been one thing to see it from his seat in the stands, but to imagine the
memories it might stir. "Was he okay? Should I reorganize to lead tomorrows
drills to give him a bit of time?"

"I don't think so," she said. "He gave me his last bottle of good
stuff. So I know he isn't drinking. Besides that, he was comforting me.
Like his old self before... all the bad stuff. Does he seem different
to you lately?"

K'deren thought for a moment. "Not so strict maybe. There's been a little
more chatter in drills than normal."

"I don't know what to think," she shook her head. "But maybe just keep
your eyes open and let me know if he seems off." She always worried
about the riders around her and particularly about the leadership of
the Weyr. With D'hol she wasn't exactly suspicious, just puzzled by
the recent changes for the better. There wasn't a new woman in his
life, that she knew of, but that probably wasn't it. She shrugged. "I
don't know what to think." The grief washed over her again. "I'm glad
you're here," she whispered and leaned into him.

"Any time you need me."

"Always," she said to his tunic. "I don't think I could do this
without you." He was the glue that held their family together. The one
who made her work possible and that he understood all that and still
loved her was his greatest gift to her. He always knew how to distract
and jolly her out of her more intense moods.

K'deren didn't speak, merely held her close, sensing she needed the contact
more than words at the moment.

She laid her ear against his chest and just listened to his heartbeat.
That was a thing that always seemed to calm her down.

}:Donneth's is good for you,:{

**Yes, he is,** she smiled and hugged his waist. **He makes me happy.**

K'deren's hands began to move gently in a caress, asking an unspoken
question even as he shifted slightly to gently kiss her,

Her arms stole around his neck and she responded to his kiss letting
go of the grief she'd been feeling. "I love you," she murmured against
his lips.

"Let me show you how I feel," K'deren said softly as he began to lead her to
their bed.

She smiled and willingly followed him smiling.
