Y'gel

Urlene

Pleased with herself and with his response, Urlene crawled back up and
lay beside Y'gel, burrowing next to his warmth. "That was nice..." She
sighed softly, resting her head on his shoulder.

"Very," he agreed with a chuckle. He was willing as long as she was.
But, he'd never try and divert her from her hearts desires. He'd had
true and deep love now twice and could acknowledge her need to
experience it. He kissed her forehead and enveloped her in a warm
embrace. "I'll be here for you when you want me," he growled softly in
her ear.

"I know. I just...maybe we should wait for anything more until I know
for certain about Lorican." Her voice was soft. She didn't regret what
they had done, nor did she regret her closeness with Y'gel. "He's not
like weyrfolk and I told him about you, but he wouldn't share intimacy
with someone's he's not...Well, at least, that's what I think..." Her
voice trailed off. "But I could be wrong, couldn't I?"

He kissed her gently. "It is completely up to you," he smiled. "But I
think you'll be surprised by his reaction. Don't think you can figure
out what he's thinking or going to say before you tell him he may be a
father. Let him have the joy of that moment. It's not like anything
else in life. Who knows how he's going to react." She was just going
to have to ride this runner to the end of it's race.

"I hate uncertainty." She admitted softly with a sigh. "I honestly do.
But I think you already knew that." Urlene stroked her hand over his
arm, completely relaxed in his embrace.

"Yes, I did figure that out," he said and tightened his arms around
her for a moment. "Of course I can't help hoping it's mine."

"We won't know for a while. None of us will. We may never know." She
had seen other women of the Weyr in similar situations and had quite
honestly not thought very highly of their situations unless they were
children of green riders. But now, being in the same situation, she
was forced to view it differently. It made her think of herself
differently. The holdbred perceptions that she'd carried for turns
were fracturing in more than one way. "I'm still wrapping my mind
around it. That may take some time too."

"Very true," he said. "Talk to someone if you need to. That would be a
healthy thing to do. But remember, you don't have to carry thing by
yourself... not ever."

"Well, technically, I do have to carry this baby by myself. And I'm
fine, Y'gel. I'll be fine. Like I said, I just need some time to
really consider everything and all the consequences of it." She sat
up, but brushed a kiss over his mouth as she did so. "I'm going to
take a bath."

"You would take that literally," he chuckled. "But I know pregnant
women," he said soothingly. "There will be times... I just don't want
you to hesitate to let me know if you need me."

"You're talking about libido, I assume?" Her lips curled up. "I've
spoken and worked with pregnant women too, Y'gel. I've heard about the
appetite, the sickness, and the moodiness. Now that I know that I'm
with child, I'll be on guard for it. But thank you. I'll keep it in
mind."

He shook his head sorrowfully, "No, yes that is a part of it. But, not
what I was thinking about. Sometimes you'll just need arms around you
or mushrooms from Bitra, or your feet, neck or back rubbed. You're
going to be emotional and cry at the drop of the hat. All of that is
part of what the hormones are going to do to you." He smiled at her.
"Go get your bath but as you get bigger your center of gravity will be
off, you might need help getting out of the pool. And I'm just saying
I'll help."

"I appreciate it, Y'gel, and if I have a need, I'll let you know."
Urlene rose, her face still glowing at the thought of carrying a
child. There was so many things to do, to prepare for. "Care to join
me in the bath?"

"Sure," he smiled and followed her.
