As soon as K'don felt it was safe to do so, he went to visit Naradis. He was not sure exactly what he expected would happen, but one way or another, he needed to know that she was all right. Despite all that had happened, he was still surprised to find that she had been confined to one of the upper weyrs.
"Naradis?" he called into the weyr from the ledge. "It's K'don. Can I come in?"
Naradis met K'don in the entryway with crossed arms and the most venomous glare that she had ever aimed at her brother. "No," she flatly said. "Get out and don't try to talk to me again."
K'don's eyes widened with shock at the look. What reason in all the world did SHE have to be angry with HIM?
"Wh-whatâ€" why?" he demanded. If she could go on running her mouth while he begged her to stop, then he could ignore her demands that he leave and stop talking to her just as easily.
"Wouldn't you rather be writing letters to Kadira?" Naradis sneered. "After all, you made sure everyone knew I'm the monster harassing that poor innocent little girl who never, _ever_ said a thing wrong."
She didn't allow him a chance to respond before she pointed at the door. "Get the feck out. _Now_."
"I didn't say anything like that!" K'don insisted. She could point all she wanted. "Who told you I said that!?"
"_R'lor_ certainly seemed surprised when I told him what Kadira said." And when she told him that she had been trying to _help_, that she wasn't just some feral monster going after Dragonsfall's most special girl. But of course, K'don didn't care about that, because, "The way she treated me doesn't matter though, does it? Only that I didn't roll over for the riders."
Another jab toward the doorway. "Get out, or I'll tell mom that you used her little punishment to corner me."
"I didn't tell him what _you_ said, either! I went there to tell him about how _I_ messed up because he's my leader," said K'don. "Why is it so important to you that you _win_ at being nasty!? Tell Cyradis whatever you want! It's my turn to win. Or are you going to push me off the ledge to shut me up?"
"_Fine_," Naradis growled. "You won't leave? _I will_." She shoved her way past K'don and stroke over to the edge of the ledge without another word, where she carefully crouched down and lowered a leg over the edge as she tried to gauge how to make the long climb down.
"I'm sorry," said K'don. "I didn't mean to make you look like a monster. I was just trying to get you away from the thing that was hurting you. You can't bandage a burn while it's still on fire."
}:You are going to fall if you set out to climb down that way,:{ said Maciath to Naradis.
"I don't care!" Naradis shouted to Maciath in a moment of impulse and fury.
She froze up as her own words washed over her. Slowly, she pulled her leg back up and positioned herself so that she was sitting on the edge of the ledge rather than climbing down. Her voice was little more than a whisper as she stared over the edge and said, "I'm not ready to talk to you. Maybe later, but for now... Please, please leave."
At least he couldn't see her crying from this angle. She didn't think that she could stop the tears if she tried.
"All right. I'll go." K'don wanted to help. He wanted to stay until everything was fixed. But she truly wanted him gone. "Nothing she said to you was true." He climbed back up onto Maciath, and they flew away again.
"Thank you," Naradis whispered.
She waited until Maciath was well out of sight to go back into the weyr and truly break down.
