I Somehow Find, You and I Collide (1/2)

Writers: Avery, Heather
Date Posted: 12th April 2024

Characters: A'vel, R'nar
Description: R'nar and Eranar are supposed to be joining A'vel for a 'beach day' at Dolphin Cove. Tsogath has other plans.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 17 of Turn 11
Notes: Mentioned: Cyradis

"Whee!" R'nar exclaimed as Iorath popped out of /between/ above
Dolphin Cove Weyr.

From inside his father's riding jacket, where Eranar was strapped to
R'nar's chest, the boy squealed in delight, chubby cheeks shining in
the sun.

**He's so shardin' beautiful,** R'nar thought, his heart swelling as
he watched the wonder in his son's bright eyes as they began circling
the Weyr.

Iorath bugled a welcome to the Watchdragon. Today they had set up a
playdate on the beach with A'vel, and then R'nar was going to take
Eranar by to see his grandmother, Cyradis.

"Here we go, champ," said R'nar, swinging his leg over Iorath's neckridge once
they were safely on the soft sand of Dolphin Cove's beach and leapt to
the ground with Eranar still strapped to his chest. This earned
another squeal of excitement from the toddler.

He was just unbuttoning his riding jacket when the sound of a green
rising split the air.

A'vel had wondered the prior evening if Tsogath was proddy. She'd been
reluctant to come back to their weyrledge, as she'd been enjoying
attention from other dragons on the rim. When he woke up, his
suspicions had been confirmed - she looked bright in the morning
light, and then she insisted on being bathed and oiled to a shine
as soon as he was awake enough to do it.

Nevermind that knew he had plans with R'nar today to spend some time
with him and Eranar. That they involved the beach. **Let's just have
it be tomorrow,** he hoped. He actually wanted to spend the day with
his friend. Even if it meant dealing with proddy Tsogath overnight
again.

So he'd tried negotiating with her - **do you really need to be oiled
and bathed right now? We're going to be on the beach sand. I could
bathe you after.** but the green was having none of that. In fact, her
response was that she'd look even better for Iorath.

He shook his head and had complied with bathing her, then took his own
bath. He had no wing drills or sweeprides today, which was good, as
he knew she'd be hard to control and it would drain him.

He was crossing the Weyrbowl when he saw Tsogath plunge off the weyr
rim in a showy dive directly to the feeding pens. Through his own eyes
from a distance and through a glimpse from hers, he saw she struck
down a wherry and bit its neck.

The punch of her lust that clouded his own mind and went straight to
his groin was more familiar now, after her several flights. It still
wasn't _welcome_, but he knew what to do. **Blood only! You want to
fly high and fast, to enjoy it.** he shouted at her as he ran towards
the mating weyrs.

Other dragons were coming to the pens, attracted by her call. She saw
three blues, two browns, and a bronze. Only one? Tsogath thought.
There was something wrong with that. She deserved more bronzes!
Fortunately, as she went for her second wherry to blood, she saw more
dragons arriving.

A'vel got to the flight weyrs and leaned against the cool stone
outside one, cooling down his suddenly heated self in the moments
before they merged. Hoping for her to please, please pick another blue
this time.

Tsogath watched the males to ensure they were blooding as well and
that she was being watched ardently, before throwing herself into the
sky to spread her wings and fly, fly.

}:It's Tsogath! It's Tsogath! R'nar! My straps! Get them off! _Now!_:{
Iorath's talons were raking divots into the sand in his agitation.

R'nar's head snapped to the air where he could see a familiar green.
His bronze's need to chase her was so overwhelming that he almost lost
his balance. **You've got to be kidding me!**

Cursing his fumbling hands, he managed to unbuckle and rip the leather
straps from Iorath.

}:Tsogath!:{ the bronze called, launching from the sand so quickly
that a cloud of the grainy stuff was thrown around him in a sandy
wave.

"Come on, R'nar, focus," R'nar gritted out between clenched teeth. His
brain kept flashing between Iorath's view in the air, and his own view
on the ground as he began jogging towards the Weyr. He wrapped his
arms around Eranar, stabilizing the toddler against his chest as he
ran. Eranar thought the 'zooming' to be _lots_ of fun and waved his
arms wildly for the ride.

"I need help! Help!" R'nar called as he skidded into the creche of the
Dolphin Cove Lover Caverns.

"Bring 'em here," an older worker said, who had clearly seen this type
of panic before and knew without asking what was needed.

"Thank you so much. Thank you," R'nar was panting as he yanked Eranar
out of the harness and passed him over to the woman. "Daddy loves
you!" he yelled over his shoulder at his son as he raced towards the
flight rooms, still battling the spinning vertigo sensation as Iorath
raced after Tsogath.

Tsogath had indeed gotten a few additional suitors since she blooded
her wherries. She noticed that two more blues had joined. She went
winging out parallel to the beach, keeping the sun warm on her back
and stretching her wings out. She could outrace these dragons any day!

Iorath didn’t have time to blood like the others, but he wasn’t
deterred. No one else could have Tsogath. She was meant for _him_. He
arrived late into the back of the pack of males, but he _knew_ this
green. He would wait for the right moment.

**I made it. I made it. Faranth.** R’nar was gasping for breath by the
time he stumbled into the flight weyr. His eyes swept the room, sizing up
the other contenders before he edged his way into the semi-circle
around A’vel.

When he looked at A’vel a jolt of white hot desire shot through his
core. It was as if he could see A’vel and Tsogath at the same time,
sharing in his dragon’s desire to have the green.

Taking a deep breath, R’nar closed his eyes, finally fully able to
join Iorath in the air.

Tsogath lost herself in the joy of flight for a few minutes, taking
the sun on her back, diving low to skim along the vegetation. She
would not be caught so low! Or so fast. She needed to perform at her
best, and so did her suitors. Performing a whip turn, she aimed high
upwards and back, charging through and scattering the pack before
looking to see what trouble she'd caused.

Two dragons collided, a bronze and a blue, dropping out. She focused
on the second bronze, and then realized a third had arrived. There was
Iorath! She bugled in delight. She wanted him - but he'd have to work
for it! Her interest in the blues and browns immediately waned.

Iorath-R'nar grinned eagerly as Tsogath-A'vel noticed them. As the
other remaining bronze bumped his shoulder, Iorath snarled, snapping
at his competitor. The jostling between the two continued as a brown
surged past them, his focus unwavering from Tsogath.

A few more minutes passed, a few more dragons dropped out. It was down
to blue Rymeth, bronze Volaith, and Iorath. Tsogath felt her wings
ache and wanted to make it _her_ choice. Motivated by their recent
closeness, she turned and threw herself in the path of Iorath.

On the ground, A'vel scrambled to R'nar, pulling him in to kiss him
even before their dragons twined.
