A'dryn woke with the usual sense of disorientation, his body feeling
heavy and sated. And then the rush of panic as he realized Nalarith
had flown. He squeezed his eyes tight as his breathing sped up,
wondering who was sharing the bed with him and afraid to find out.
V'rel yawned and stretched out, feeling satisfied and happy. He felt a
warm body next to him and heard the breathing become more rapid. Had
Rymeth won, or was he with T'lin?
}:I won Nalarith,:{ Rymeth interjected, smug.
"A'dryn," he said in a low voice as he rolled onto his side to look at
the greenrider.
A'dryn finally dared to peek. "V'rel?" His eyes widened and he blinked
in confusion. "But..."
}:Yes, Rymeth caught me. He was very clever.:{
"She...she likes bronzes. But I guess Rymeth must have surprised her,"
A'dryn was hardly aware of what he was saying. He knew V'rel, he was
nice. And V'rel liked men... of _course_ he did, he was weyrmated to
one.
"He's a tricky one. I don't remember how...but I hope she's pleased."
V'rel stretched out a hand to brush his fingertips carefully against
A'dryn's face, not wanting to startle him. "I hope _you're_ pleased."
A'dryn's pulse jumped at the touch. The leftover flight lust surged
forward. "I'm used to bronzeriders. I..." His head was spinning. The
shame was still there, but this time there was no reason to worry that
the other man was disgusted by him.
A'dryn seemed skittish, so V'rel tried humor. "I hope a bluerider
knows more about how to treat a greenrider than they do."
His face heated. "Oh, yes. I suppose you would." A'dryn swallowed, his
mind turning toward the kinds of things a bluerider could do to him.
"It was pleasant for you, right? No harm?" V'rel hadn't hurt anyone in
a flight yet, but...
"I'm fine," A'dryn replied automatically, then he considered being
more honest. "Well, a bit sore but that... it seems to be common for
many greenriders. With flights being...what they are." Even female
greenriders talked about being sore, and that wasn't necessarily a bad
thing. A'dryn himself had been sore in a pleasant kind of way on a few
occasions after sex with B'jon.
"They're more intense than regular rounds," V'rel agreed. "I sometimes
wish Rymeth and Calaroth can catch each other, but the post-flight
losing sex is stilll...stronger than normal. Their desires make it so
good."
A'dryn pictured V'rel with his handsome weyrmate, rolling around with
each other after a flight. His body's reaction was immediate and
A'dryn bit his lip. If he moved, if he did anything, it might draw
V'rel's attention. The bluerider was so close and A'dryn
wanted...wanted...
A’dryn’s silence worried V’rel and he reached out and touched the
greenrider’s face. “Still with me?”
His touch was like fire. "Yes." A'dryn swallowed. "I--I've never
stayed. . . after."
"I was worried you were zoning out." V'rel's hand went from the light
cupping to trailing a finger to A'dryn's lips. "I can stay if you
want. Show you what the round after feels like. If you want it."
This was a Weyr and he was a greenrider. It wasn't wrong to want
things. It wasn't wrong to _do_ things.
}:You should stay. Rymeth's rider will make you feel good,:{ Nalarith
said sleepily. }:I will feel good with you. I would like that.:{
A'dryn's hearbeat thundered in his ears. "I think I might want to
try," he said in hardly more than a whisper.
"Then let's try," V'rel said, brushing his thumb across A'dryn's mouth
a few more times, circling his lips, before removing his hand to lean
in for a kiss that started gentle and coaxing.
The greenrider melted against him, all his hesitation forgotten for a
moment as the dragonlust took over and he responded eagerly to the
kiss. It felt _so_ good to press himself against V'rel's body.
It stopped being gentle soon as V'rel nipped his lip. Residual
dragonlust mixed with a genuine desire for the other man. V'rel's hand
roamed down A'dryn's side and stroked along his ribs, flicking his
thumb over a nipple, and then skimmed lower to brush over a hipbone.
A'dryn gasped, a sharp pulse of desire shooting through him. He
gripped at V'rel, his tongue sliding against the other man's as he
moaned.
}:Yes, this feels good.:{ Nalarith's presence was warm in his mind,
pushing back the flicker of shame that tried to take hold of him.
"I'll show you flying without dragons," V'rel promised, and then made
good on his words...
Afterwards, he luxuriated next to a panting A'dryn, and brushed a kiss
to his cheek first. Then he stood up and reached for the bowl of water
and cleaning cloths the flight weyrs stocked. "Let me clean us up, he
said, first swabbing stickiness off of himself, then coming over with
the bowl and the more cloths to get A'dryn. The way they'd done it
would have left him covered in fluids as well, and V'rel wasn't going
to leave poor A'dryn alone to fix it.
A'dryn was too boneless with satisfaction to protest, and as soon as
V'rel touched him with the cloth he sighed at the bliss of having
someone care for him. "I didn't know it could feel like this. I mean .
. . people said, but . . ." That had been in theory. Something for
other people. He shared in Nalarith's pleasure but afterwards there
was nothing but shame and embarrassment and getting away from the
other rider as soon as possible. Well, to be fair some of them were
very nice about it, especially A'kades.
}:Volaith is big and strong but Rymeth flew me very well,:{ Nalarith
said sleepily.
"It can feel pretty sharding good, huh?" V'rel asked. "If you need
more experience in this...well I hope it's not too forward to offer.
At least I'd like Rymeth to catch her again."
"I _hope_ Rymeth catches her again but I don't know if she'll listen
to me." Or at least another blue with a rider as nice as V'rel.
"Have you ever hoped really strongly for a certain dragon _not_ to
catch, and him to still get her?" V'rel asked curiously. "I've talked
to Rymeth about how I don't want to get specific greens, and then he
doesn't. So, maybe if you ask Nalarith to have Rymeth win, and I ask
Rymeth to be sure to win her, we can make it work."
"She seems to do what she wants when it comes to flights. Maybe my
mind is too weak to control her." The corner of A'dryn's mouth turned
up in a wry smile. "Good thing I'm not a goldrider."
"I don't think that's necessarily what it is. The rule about "the
dragon decides, the rider complies", is absolutely true, because they
have preferences of our own. You control her fine for Fall and
everything, this is just our one reversal." He patted A'dryn on the
shoulder, a gesture totally ignoring the flight lust for kindness
instead.
A flicker of desire kindled, but it was mild. Oddly comforting in a
way because A'dryn didn't need to do anything about it, but he knew he
could ask for more if he wanted. "When I was a Junior Weyrling I was
terrible at denying her things." He'd gotten in trouble for it, but
now he could smile fondly, remembering the enthusiasm and delight of
young Nalarith.
"I know the feeling. You want to give them everything in the world,
because they are your world."
A'dryn nodded. "I'm glad she didn't get what she wanted this time. Uh,
that is, Rymeth surprised her, though she's very much pleased."
"I'm glad she is. I'm always nervous when I wake up after flights,"
V'rel admitted, hoping the other rider would feel better if he was
vulnerable and honest about it - it wasn't only greenriders nervous,
after all. "What if I've hurt the other person? What if it's someone
in my wing or an older greenrider with wingrank?"
A'dryn blinked. "Oh, yes. It's difficult for the males' riders too.
Bronzeriders certainly don't want to wake up with me." He frowned, but
he didn't want to dwell on unpleasant thoughts. This was _nice_. Very
nice. "I do hope Nalarith chooses Rymeth again. Or he's clever enough
to outsmart her. This was . . ." His cheeks heated to admit it, but he
felt sated and surprisingly comfortable lying here with V'rel, and he
wanted the bluerider to know. "The best flight I've ever had."
V'rel kissed A'dryn again. "I promise we'll do our best to win it. You
know, I hear you can influence your dragon towards another if you
become close with their rider. If blues could fly each other, Rymeth
and Calaroth would!"
"Could you _imagine_!" A'dryn laughed. "That would certainly shock
everyone." Then he grew more serious. "It's difficult, isn't it?
Knowing that your . . . lover can never share a flight with you." That
was true for many in the Weyr, after all riders frequently had
relationships with non-riders. It was simply that it stood out more
when your dragons were both the same color.
"It doesn't bother me, actually. If one of us rode a green, there's no
guarantee we'd win the others dragon every time. Plus, that's only
every few months. If you ride a male dragon, and if you lose, you've
still got all the flightlust in you. The same flightlust we used to
have the seconds," V'rel said. "So you can go off with a flightmoth
like many riders do and burn out your share. Usually the moth doesn't
feel the lust though, so it's just you with it, and them responding
more normally. Whereas if T'lin and I both chase and lose, we're both
still riding the flightlust, and it can be more than every few months.
"Oh, that does sound nice." Being with V'rel after the flight wasn't
as intense as the flight itself, but A'dryn had been fully aware, and
able to control himself, and could remember every detail. "It's not
the same for greens though."
"You're guaranteed to be caught and have what's hopefully a good
time," he agreed. Then a thought occurred to him. "You could try
mothing for a flight if a boy you like is chasing. You might be able
to get some secondhand amount from your green if his frustrated dragon
passes it on by curling with her."
A'dryn's eyes widened. "Oh, no! No! I could never . . . You never know
what might happen in a flight circle, who might grab you." It was bad
enough that he had no control in flights, but that was the price of
being Nalarith's lifemate.
"It's true. Though you could invite him to meet you just outside the
circle, or your weyr. It's all up to you, outside of the flight.
Anything that would be good for you." V'rel kissed A'dryn's forehead
again.
"Let's go take a bath, or go get food, eh? Relax ourselves more.""
It was habit to refuse, to say no to anyone who wasn't B'jon.
}:You should go,:{ Nalarith said sleepily. }:It would be nice. I like
when you feel good.:{
A shy smile curved A'dryn's lips. "All right."
