N'vanik

She slowly emerged back into herself as if from a very vivid dream.
All the raw emotion of Panitath's flight and her choosing Loseth this
time caused her lips to curve. N'vanik's arm was a familiar weight
across her waist.

Cyradis felt secure in the knowledge that she wouldn't have to feel
out a new Weyrleader. He was a good choice for their current situation
with the holds and while some of the malcontents might be unhappy, she
knew they would work well together.

"Hey," she said softly when she felt him stir. "Congratulations Weyrleader."

He made a sleepy, content noise and pressed a kiss to her shoulder.
"Good to know the dragons are still on the same page." He didn't know
what he would have done if Loseth lost. **I've gotten spoiled, being
in charge.**

"It's confirmed," she said lightly. "You're still the best man for the
job!" She leaned back into his warmth. "Loseth didn't have to steal
her this time."

"Well he shouldn't, because this Weyr is ours." He trailed fingers
along her stomach and side, enjoying being close with her.

"Yes it is," she smiled and turned in his arms. She cupped the side
of his face and kissed him gently. "We've come a long way, you and I."

He laughed. "Yeah, I wasn't in a good place when you took over as
Weyrwoman. Janani had just up and abandoned us, and that wasn't even
Turn after Traelyn . . . well." A shadow crossed his eyes. "But you
were thrown into a situation you weren't expecting, too. You didn't
deserve me being an ass."

"I didn't," she smiled and kissed him again. "But you didn't know that
at the time and couldn't take it out on the real culprit." She turned
slightly and looked up at the ceiling. "I didn't take it well either.
Oh and that first flight." She pinched the bridge of her nose and
shook her head.

"_That_ was not my fault." He laughed harder. "I rolled over on my
injured shoulder and I wasn't fully conscious yet. It was completely
an accident."

Her eyes were still amused but she stuck to her normal response. "So
you say _now_." Then she twined her arms around his neck. "But I can
let bygones be bygones."

He kissed her, soft but with a hint of promise. "Does that mean you
aren't leaving me all cold and alone in bed?"

She gave a low throaty chuckle. "Not _this_ time." She hooked one of
her short legs around one of his much longer ones and made her
intentions very clear.

"Good." His voice was low and deep. He kissed her again with intent,
hands roaming over her body as the leftover dragonlust quickly rose.
Cyradis was gorgeous, smart, compassionate, fierce . . . why didn't
they share a bed more often?

She responded to his caresses warmly encouraging and accepting him for
the fine leader he was for Dolphin Cove. **You chose well,** she sent
with her final coherent thoughts.

}:I know,:{ Panitath replied sleepily from her position entwined with
Loseth someplace on a beach.

N'vanik used his body to show her that he was grateful, that he was
glad they made a good team, and that he cared for Cyradis herself
beyond her role as Weyrwoman. And he was also happy to have this
little time away from all the worries and dangers they faced.

She climbed and climbed until she could hardly breathe and finally flew
again with N'vanik wrapped around her bringing her safely back to the
ground. "Oh my," was all she could say when her brain finally settled
back into her body.

"Mmm." In between trying to get his breath back, N'vanik was still
pressing kisses to her neck and shoulders.

Maybe the dragons were right and bonding in this way was good for them
and good for the Weyr. She tucked her head under his chin with a hand
splayed on his chest. "Maybe we should do this after an argument. Do
you think that would help us better work together," she said with just
a hint of a laugh in her voice.

N'vanik laughed outright. "That's just an incentive to have fights
with you." His voice grew softer. "Maybe we could do this sometimes
just because." He gently ran a hand through her sweat-tangled hair.

"That's not what I meant and you know it." then she added under
breath. "like you need incentive." Then she rolled on her back and
looked up at the ceiling. "Yes," she said. "Just because."

He kissed her cheek and then shifted onto his back as well. "Maybe we
could hide in here a little while longer. It's nice not to think about
anything else."

"Good idea," she smiled. "Want to eat? I think I see popovers and jam."

"I definitely want to eat in bed." He grinned. N'vanik got up and
began moving food from the sideboard to the end of the bed. He'd just
have to be careful not to kick it later.

She chuckled in appreciation and didn't worry about crumbs as she sat
and stuffed some little cakes into her mouth. Closing her eyes in
pleasure as she chewed, a small shiver ran down her spine. She
swallowed and said. "This is just pleasure after pleasure."

"We've earned it." N'vanik set one of the small plates in his
sheet-covered lap and started spreading jam on a pastry.
