O'rosin

O'rosin

Somewhere at Dolphin Cove Weyr, a green was rising. It wasn't a new occurrence, by all means, but only known because O'rosin felt Aeoluth stirring out on their new ledge. There was a vague interest there as the brown came out of a nap, which usually meant the next activity was going to happen with all the gusto of a feline that finished their meal. This time, though, the brown only watched the speck of green in the air and the flurry of blues and browns after her before settling back down again.

He did this a lot, almost immediately after the most mortifying 'talk' R'lor had given the weyrlings. The pamphlets the Weyrlingmaster had seriously pressed into his hands afterwards were left discarded in a drawer in his weyrling weyr. The brown would _notice_, would consider, and then go back to whatever it was he was doing. Each one of his clutchmates went up and he did the same: think about it, watch for a minute, and made no move to join them. O'rosin was still dreading the lack of control and the lust-fueled chaos of the flightrooms, so it wasn't a bad thing, per se, but there was a lingering fear that his own anxiety had somehow broken his dragon.

And so this time O'rosin wandered out to the ledge where Aeoluth still lay, making his way around to the big brown head. The green eye that opened was the size of a dinner plate, and the head that wanted to cuddle nearly bowled him over. He squeezed the big jaw as tightly as he could, and Aeoluth hardly felt it. The brown had been full grown for a while now but his size was still overwhelming.

"You weren't interested in that green?" O'rosin asked as he reached to scratch the brown's eyeridge.

Aeoluth rumbled a low, lazy sound that could have been one of dismissal.

"I mean, you're always sorta interested. But you don't go chase. Not once."

}: Do you…want me to go chase? Nalarith is nice. Hers probably is, too. :{ Aeoluth asked.

"It's not about what I want, it's about what you want." O'rosin not-answered. Dragons didn't really think about consequences the same way that people did, and Aeoluth especially so: he took what came next with a nonchalance that stressed O'rosin out. He reacted to every little impulse, to the point that they almost ever graduated.

Aeoluth snorted at the flashes of memories and shook his head, like a runnerbeast displacing flies. He shoved his snout under O'rosin's hands, directing the scritches. }: That's different. :{ Aeoluth said finally, though he didn't have the words to really convey why. }: It's a feeling. When the feeling is right, we'll chase. Not now. Maybe later? :{

"You couldn't have found impulse control at any point in weyrling training, could you?" O'rosin asked.

Aeoluth exhaled, ruffling O'rosin's hair. }: I could go fight Bastiath. :{ Aeoluth offered. O'rosin almost didn't catch the humor in his mindvoice. Aeoluth rarely teased him. }: On the ledge. That would be fun. :{
