Description: In the aftermath of a lost flight, K'mai makes a big mistake.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 10 of Turn 12
Sebeth hadn't fully thought through the consequences of his lessons,
and now he had a huge bronze hulk blocking his way. }:Move!:{ he
shouted at Aluenth. The blue dove and twisted around him but by then
it was too late. The green had made her choice, twining with a
different blue. Growling in frustration, Sebeth dropped away from the
pair.
K'mai was suddenly back in his body, burning with need. Through the
blur of men around him, one face came into sharp focus and K'mai's
lust surged even higher. "I'serin," he growled as he grabbed the
Weyrleader with both hands. He pulled the other man to him and claimed
his mouth in a kiss full of Sebeth's frustration and K'mai's heated
desire.
I'serin met that kiss with a hungry moan, still trying to separate
himself from Aluneth's lust. }: Practicing, :{ was all the bronze had
said when he took off after the green, absolutely derailing I'serin's
priorities for the moment and dragging him into a mating flight. A
green's mating flight! What was Aluneth _thinking_?! I'serin could
count on one hand the number of times that Aluneth had chased a green.
Why now? And practicing for what? Once I'serin got K'mai sated, he
would have plenty of words with the bronze about--
There must have been another sound, someone speaking in the room,
because suddenly, I'serin was aware enough to realize that K'mai's
lips were on his and they were _not_ alone and--
"No!" I'serin shouted, pushing K'mai sharply away.
As K'mai stumbled back, reality came crashing down. They were in
_public_. K'mai froze, eyes and mouth open wide. Oh shards what had he
_done_? "I . . . I . . ."
But then a hand entwined itself with his and H'run tugged K'mai toward
him. "Do you...?" the harper asked, his eyes half-blurred with lust
and dragonwings.
I'serin's eyes were wide, a sea of emotions -- panic, betrayal, lust,
heartbreak, desire -- as he stumbled back another step and then
escaped to handle himself in another way.
K'mai was still half-turned toward where I'serin had gone, pulled
toward him like gravity. But he couldn't have him, not where anyone
could see. A few of the other chasers were blinking at the scene with
confusion. Some of the flight moths were laughing and smirking. K'mai
was supposed to keep I'serin _safe_ and the guilt flooding through him
was beginning to edge out the lust.
}:Go with Calcifeth's, he will make you feel good,:{ Sebeth said
irritably. He didn't like the conflicting emotions coming from his
rider. K'mai's job was to make him good after he lost a flight.
The push from his dragon was enough to send him into H'run's arms,
desperate kisses begging the other man to drown him in pleasure, to
make him forget the terrible mistake he'd just made.
Half-distracted by Rhalith's disappointment and the warm body of the
woman pressing herself close to him, sliding her hands under his
loosened shirt, it took L'keri a moment to make sense of what was
going on. He shook his head, concern for his friend breaking through
the daze and heated lust of the lost flight. "K'mai? What are you
doing?!"
"Hey...it's just some bluerider got confused and kissed the Weyrleader
by mistake." The woman giggled throatily and slid against him. "Ignore
them. Come with me."
L'keri frowned, but when he looked again K'mai was very clearly _not_
with the bronzerider any more, and he wondered if he'd imagined it all
- and by then, he was being led away to ride out the mating urge in
private. H'run would take care of it for now, was his last coherent
thought. There'd be time to talk to K'mai...afterwards.
K'mai was kissing H'run and that should have been enough. He _wanted_
it to be enough. He moaned against K'mai's mouth as he tugged the
bluerider from the flight room. Even with dragonlust blurring his
senses, K'mai's fervor felt... misplaced, even with I'serin's ringing
rejection. But he was a Harper and if anyone was good at playing
pretend, it was him. Perhaps if he pretended hard enough, it might
come true.
