}:Move. Move. Slide over. Make way.:{ Chioneth commanded as she wedged
in beside Kohath, Sanderveth, and Isaroth. }:I hope you haven't
started without me.:{

}:Of course not,:{ Kohath was the first to assure the queen.

}:We haven't even really _looked_ at them yet,:{ Isaroth said,
although she had been tempted. The large green dragon, still dwarfed
by the others, had her snout half-buried in the snow. She was lying
flat along the mountain ridge with her full length pressed flat. She
enjoyed the cold on her belly.

Chioneth had squeezed in between the two bronzes, one younger and one
older, but she had noted that the green Isaroth was often on the same
ledge as Kohath - which was interesting indeed. She did not sense they
were a bonded pair, but they were in the same place at the same time
frequently. Too much for coincidence.

Sanderveth's dark, sandy hide stood out in stark contrast to the snow.
He was smaller than Kohath, but had Turns more experience, and
Chioneth was not the first gold he had sat on a ledge with....
Although Tabanirth was not a very cuddly gold, he would admit.

}:Okay, everyone choose,:{ Chioneth demanded, swiveling her head
toward the Summer Lake, which was frozen over and currently swarming
with ice skaters.

}:I'll take the one in the green scarf,:{ Isaroth said, sending a
mental picture of the female human to the other dragons.

}:Typical,:{ Kohath snorted. }:You always choose someone wearing green
who looks remarkably like your rider.:{

}:Oh? Well, who are _you_ going to choose, then?:{ The green sniped back.

The amber-bronze craned his long neck as high as it would go, making
him look quite comical as he surveyed the ice skaters. }:I'll take
this one, in the purple and blue coat.:{

Sanderveth snorted, sending snowflakes flying in a dizzying swirl. }:
Amateurs. It'll be the one in all black for sure, with the red hair.:{

Chioneth silently agreed with the older bronze. She gave him another
glance. He was ruggedly handsome, she decided. The scars on his hide
were evidence of the many Threadfalls he had survived. He was a bit
small, but.... Maybe he could catch her next time?

}:The brunette with the blue puff ball on her hat.:{ Chioneth said,
staking her claim.

The quartet of dragons all stilled to the point of looking like
statues. Each had their eyes fixed on the frozen lake below.

The girl in the green scarf swirled around on the ice, and all four
dragons flinched as she wobbled, but she remained on her feet.

}:Shells,:{ Isaroth hissed with annoyance.

The red head in all black collided with the man in the purple and blue
coat, nearly sending them both to their feet, but they managed to
right themselves, heads thrown back in laughter.

Sanderveth let out a huff of disgust.

}:It could still happen,:{ Kohath insisted, talons raking through the
snow until they found purchase on the stony ground underneath.

}:It's going to be mine,:{ Chioneth said, her voice exuberant with
triumph as the human with the puff ball hat began flailing, arms
windmilling at maximum speed to keep themselves upright.

Just before the puff ball human fell, the girl in the green scarf
caught the toe of her ice skate unexpectedly and crashed onto the ice
in a magnificent display of elbows, knees, and a loud squeal.

}:YES!:{ Isaroth exclaimed, wings flaring wide, tail snapping back and
forth like a whip. }:I won!:{

Chioneth's jubilation faded in a flash as she mantled her wings
against her back. }:There's a first time for everything. Best three
out of five. Everyone pick someone new.:{ Her words were clipped.

}:Told you I'd win,:{ Isaroth said to Kohath, and if she'd had
eyebrows, they'd have been waggling with swagger.

}:Go ahead and brag. It was a lucky guess. I'm winning this next
one.:{ Kohath retorted, his eyes already fixed once more on the humans
below.

}:This really is an odd habit they have. I can't imagine what is so
fun about sliding around in a circle.:{ Sanderveth mused as he
selected his next victim.

}:Me either, but apparently my rider is going to drag Aluneth's out
onto the ice one day. Although, she'd better be careful. He seems like
the accident-prone type.:{ Chioneth's voice was dry.

The other three dragons' eyes whirled with amusement. }:Aluneth does
his best. Sometimes riders can be difficult to train.:{ Sanderveth
said this with a note of experience in his voice.

}:You're telling me. X'eri is thicker than the Eye Rock sometimes.:{
Kohath's head swayed back and forth.

}:I can't really complain about mine, Yasmeane is -:{ Three dragon
heads all swiveled sharply in Isaroth's direction, cutting her off.
}:Okay, well, she's a bit of a prickly fruit sometimes.:{

Chioneth reined them back in. }:Enough chatter. Everyone choose your
next human.:{ She couldn't let herself lose to a green after all. She
wondered if Isaroth's ability to Search made her more likely to detect
which human would fall....

}:You select first, my queen,:{ Sanderveth said, ever the voice of wisdom.

}:I know exactly which one,:{ Chioneth said, her keen eyes narrowing
down on the figure of some unsuspecting human below.
