It had been on her mind the past few days, so when she saw V'tian crossing the Weyrbowl she walked faster to catch up with him. "V'tian, hey! Can we talk?"
Sky, perched on his shoulder, let out an inquisitive trill even as V'tian turned to look. "... Saedyna." He greeted, raised one brow. "... Okay. Where?" The other greenrider asked. What did she want?
"Somewhere private. Or at least not where people will overhear," she said. "Maybe we can walk down to the beach?"
"Sure." V'tian agreed, and whistled, summoning Radiance back from where she'd been perched nearby to land back on his shoulder. "Good." He praised, gave her a treat, then faced Saedyna again. "Lead the way? The beach is always nice."
They walked in silence for a while, crossing the Weyrbowl. Finally Saedyna said, "She's very pretty. Your gold."
"... Thanks." V'tian responded, after a moment. "I have a blue, too. You can see if Radiance will go to you." He added. "I've got their treat pouch."
That got a little smile out of her and she held out her hand for a treat. "Your blue is cute. You found them yourself, didn't you?"
V'tian offered Saedyna one of the treats; quick as a tunnelsnake, Radiance snapped it up. He laughed, and offered Saedyna the treat bag instead.
"... I did." V'tian confirmed. "Why should I pay someone when I could find them for free? And it was worth it." He added. "Aren't they beautiful? And Radiance is nearly fully grown. I hope she flies soon. You want an egg?" He continued.
Saedyna considered that as she pulled a treat from the bag and offered it to Radiance. "I thought about it." Once she'd started getting getting marks and back when she thought she couldn't Impress. "But Avarith is more than enough for me. At least for now."
Radiance crooned, her eyes whirling blue-green, and took wing to fly to Saedyna, taking the treat with a quick bite.
V'tian hesitated, a moment, and then came to a sort of decision. He could always charge someone _else_ double.
"Well... if you want one later... come see me." He said finally. "I'll give you one cheap."
Saedyna smiled brightly as the firelizard claimed the morsel. It _was_ tempting to think about getting one of her own, especially if she could have a lovely little gold like Radiance. She turned that bright smile on V'tian. "Thank you."
She fed another bit to the gold and then her expression grew more serious. "So, I know you've been. . ." She didn't want to say 'fooling around' in case he didn't see it that way. "Spending time with C'pier. It doesn't bother me. I actually . . . think it might be a good thing."
"You're welcome." V'tian responded, loftily, though he didn’t call Radiance back to him.
Sky vanished, then popped out of _between_ with a chitter of his own, swooping down to hover near the treat bag with a woebegone sort of trill. Treat for him too!
And then V'tian huffed a sigh. "C'pier, huh? I'm fairly sure _Indith's_ the one keeping that going. She's sweet on Yuliuth-- not that I'm complaining." He added, except maybe he was a little bit.
"So it's not serious? That's what he said, but he also seemed worried about pushing you into something you don't want," she said as she held a treat out for Sky. "So if you want more, you should tell him."
"You think I didn't _try_ that?" V'tian huffed. "Wait, you talked to him?" He blurted, briefly distracted, then refocused. "And I _tried_ hinting." He muttered. "He just said he's happy to come over whenever Indith tells Yuliuth." He made a face. "I don't see why _I_ have to do all the inviting, if he's so willing to send Yuliuth after Indith."
Saedyna sighed. "I think he might need more than a hint. He's not very . . . he doesn't think he deserves nice things."
"I'm plenty nice." V'tian huffed with a faint scowl. "He waved it off." Not that V'tian had poured too much effort into the convincing.
Radiance warbled demandingly, swooped at the treat pouch and tried to make off with it.
Saedyna clutched the pouch tighter. "No, no," she scolded, before pulling out another treat. "Just tell him you want _him_ to invite _you_ over sometimes. Or whatever it is you want."
Radiance trilled approval, and snapped the treat up with delicate precision. Yes. Feed her.
"Or maybe I'll stop inviting him over entirely and see how long it takes him to even reach out." V'tian muttered. "If Yuliuth chases Indith, maybe he should chase _me_ for once."
Saedyna was beginning to wonder if she might need to fix this herself. "Tell him that. Tell him you want to be chased."
Sky chirruped expectantly. Feed him now? He was a good flit.
V'tian scoffed, if lightly. "... Maybe." He muttered.
Or maybe he'd wait. See what happened.
Ugh. Men. Why couldn't they just talk about their feelings? Saedyna handed a treat to Sky as she considered shaking both V'tian and C'pier.
