It didn't take long for Ç'pier to answer her summons and Saedyna waved him closer. "I know you're trying to be respectful or whatever, but you don't need to act all weird every time I talk to you. I know you don't have a weapon. As long as you don't like, loom behind me or something, it's fine."
It wasn't _completely_ fine. Seeing him still made her tense up, her thumb throbbing with phantom pain.
Ç'pier's remorse was not _plain_ on his face. But it was still there. Saedyna had had plenty of time to recognize it by now.
"Far be it from me to loom," said Ç'pier. "To what do I owe the pleasure, my lady?"
Best to get right to it. "I talked to V'tian. He wants you to ask _him_ over sometimes."
Ç'pier looked genuinely puzzled. Why would V'tian not just tell him that?
"Huh. I guess the whole... being in charge thing really was just a bedroom thing, then, eh?"
She pressed her hands against the sides of her face. "Oh Faranth." Why had she gotten involved in this? "I think he wants to know if you actually . . . want him."
"I feel like we already talked about this. I don't come running when someone calls me if I don't want to," said Ç'pier. Crackdust. The way this was going, he was going to lose Chandrany _and_ V'tian to their own insecurities, and then who was going to warm his metaphorical bed? Maybe he would run into I'mrei on the beach again...
"But if you only come when he calls, maybe he thinks you're not very interested?" she said.
"I mean, I get what you're saying. I just thought we'd already worked this out," said Ç'pier. "Why is he sending you to speak for him, anyway, 'cause he knows I'll do whatever you tell me?"
"He didn't send me. I'm trying to _help_ you two dimglows!" She heaved a sigh. "Clearly you didn't work it out if he's getting all huffy and talking about wanting to be chased."
"I chase him every time Indith rises!" Ç'pier protested. "He's not going to make a big fuss about whether he's my only lover, too, is he?"
Saedyna's eyes widened slightly. "You have another one?" She reminded herself that this was a weyr and things were different here. Afterall, she'd propositioned B'lyse and C'rand and ended up bedding both of them. But . . . that was a special situation.
"You didn't know about Chandrany?" Ç'pier had not meant to keep it a secret. She had certainly found out easily enough about V'tian.
"No. So are you just . . . sleeping with anybody who'll have you?" She realized that sounded kind of judgmental, but . . . she was kind of being judgmental.
"They've come to me!" Ç'pier insisted. "It's not as though I've got any charm left. I thought I'd never see another naked body in my bed again after what I've done, but here they are. Why wouldn't I enjoy their company? These are the only two who have made a fully regular thing of it, though..."
"Do they know about each other?" she asked.
"Chandrany knows about V'tian," said Ç'pier. "I have no idea whether he knows about her. It hasn't come up. I didn't know he was feeling so serious about everything."
"That's because you don't _talk_ to each other! Not hint or assume, but actually _talk_." She sighed. "I don't know exactly what he wants, but you really need to talk to him."
"I'm happy the way things are. If he's so unhappy, then _he_ needs to talk to _me_ for real," said Ç'pier. "Chandrany did. Last we talked, he seemed just as content."
Of course, he was still not quite sure how everything with Chandrany was going to work out in the end, but the point stood-- she talked to him.
"He sure wasn't content when he talked to me." She put her hands on her hips. "You better not break his heart."
Ç'pier never should have gotten into a holdborn's bed in the first place if fragile hearts were going to be involved. If his head had been on straight... The old Ç'pier never would have bedded a holder he was going to see again tomorrow.
}:Perhaps you have grown since then,:{ Yuliuth suggested.
"I'm afraid that ship might have sailed..." He sighed. The thing was, he _did_ care for V'tian. As he had told Chandrany, the both of them were special to him.
And what of _his_ heart? Were they going to discard him and leave him alone for the crime of loving both of them?
}:There's that word again.:{
**You know what I mean.**
}:Oh, I most certainly do.:{
"I never set out to keep them secret from one another. Things just didn't... start out like they've become. At first, it was just sex, but now... Now they're both special to me, and I can't..." Again, he sighed.
"Faranth's first egg, just _tell_ him that! Tell him that he's special." Saedyna couldn't believe how thick-headed he was being. "And tell Chandrany, too. I don't know what kind of mess you've made, but this is the weyr. People can have two lovers. Even two weyrmates."
"I did tell Chandrany. Because she came to me and asked me what we were and what was going on with V'tian," said Ç'pier.
Saedyna made a frustrated growl. "Ok, so now go tell V'tian. Maybe he's too shy to say anything to you because he's worried you don't feel the same. Tirraze has been nothing but sweet to me, and we were friends before, but it's still scary to feel that way about someone."
"Fine." It was not going to end well. He was going to admit what he felt, and then they were going to crush him anyway. He just knew it. "I will."
"Good." She relaxed, satisfied that she'd finally gotten through to him.
"Good," Ç'pier repeated. "Is there anything else?"
She shook her head. "Just be good to him, okay?"
